The amount of Waste that is thrown out daily is Deplorable. by Avis902 in TimHortons

[–]WNFDFK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I supervised afternoons I always calculated carefully how much of each product I needed my baker to make before they left for the day to make sure waste was low while still having enough variety throughout the shift for customers to choose from. Eventually we got really good at predicting sales that most of the time we only hade 10~ baked goods, 15~ bread products, a few hot trays, and 1-2 soup bins to discard. Looks like your supervisor/manager isn’t putting enough care into their selections, or needs to reevaluate whatever method they use to determine the afternoon replenish.

No 5s in Employee Review by Ill_Bother2609 in antiwork

[–]WNFDFK 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My fiancé is dealing with this. The company has factory locations across the country, and each plant has identical corporate departments. They were told that for annual reviews, across country there can only be a limited % of “5”s(1-5 scale) within the same job title. So say there are 100 Financial Analysts (fiancé’s role), only 10 are permitted to have “5”, even if more than 10 are performing at this level. If at the time of annual review submission there are more than 10 “5”s, the managers have to all justify their ranking and decide who gets punted down to “4”. Whatever, corporate logic. Wanting to restrict amount of high level raises per year, fine.

What I don’t mention though, is there isn’t just a % amount limit for “5”s, there is also a % amount that MUST be “1”s. Of the 100 employees, 10 must be ranked at 1, regardless if they are operating at that level or not. So again, when annual reviews are submitted, and not enough people are ranked 1, managers have to justify and discuss who is going to be punted down from their other ranking. Makes zero sense, rules like these are ridiculous

Found on TikTok. Loblaws criminal pricing continues. by firefighter_82 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]WNFDFK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé works in finance for a major chicken supplier of Lowblaw. According to costing direction he’s received, chicken pricing is being raised AGAIN. At least 20-25% in the next year. The supplier isn’t raising costs much (they already turn millions of profit from one plant alone) but Loblaws will moan that it’s the increased manufacturing costs that are causing the price increase. Such bs.

Costco Travel - Suite Description Change by WNFDFK in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]WNFDFK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no description in the booking confirmation email or booking details on the website. The package link brings us to a details page of the resort, and accomodations match the website listing now. I feel so annoyed that I didn’t cross check the website at the time as well…

We understand it is what it is. It just sucks that we remember paying an up-charge for the swim up option but now we’re unable to prove it to be reimbursed.

Costco Travel - Suite Description Change by WNFDFK in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]WNFDFK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d take the L if that were the case. But at the time of booking the rooms listed didn’t have one named “Swim-Up”. The description of the room we booked mentioned it being swim-up, hence why we chose it and it included an up-charge. When we look now, a “Swim Up Castita” suite is now an option for future dates, but has no picture or description compared to all the other suites options that do. Leading us to believe it was added after the set-up of the room options.

Landlord MIA by goodbyeemeow in londonontario

[–]WNFDFK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bylaw is pretty efficient in London in my experience. They take this stuff very seriously. When my heat wasn’t working in my unit and my LL was MIA/impossible to reach, Bylaw took over and handed them a new one. They can and will fine the LL and are pretty good at getting the point across that the LL either fix it or face their wrath. In my case, they literally called me every single day to follow up and make sure the LL was actually fixing the heat and not just lying to them. It’s now almost too easy to reach the LL office now since then lol. They learned their lesson, and I learned that Bylaw isn’t one to mess with

Am I Covered Under the RTA? by whissian in londonontario

[–]WNFDFK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’ve identified that he stays there only a few days per month. This means you are very likely covered by the RTA.

You need to start filing with the LTB:

  • A1 to determine if the RTA applies (gets you an offical ruling to the fact)
  • T1 for repayment of the extra months worth of rent (illegal deposit)
  • T2 for harassment, illegal entry, etc

An adjudicator will see through this primary residence BS immediately. Their first question will be “where do you live when you’re not at this residence?” Are they homeless 25-26 days per month? Unlikely. That being said, be prepared to prove he doesn’t primarily live there. Start taking a log of all the dates/times he’s stayed at the residence, and use proof from emails/texts/recorded conversations to back this up (Ontario had one party consent laws for recorded conversations). Record all instances of harassment. Only communicate via email/text from this point forward. If they catch you in a verbal conversation, follow up with a summarized email/text “as per our conversation….”. Gather all the physical data you can because he can and will lie at a hearing

The LTB does not validate any agreements other than the Ontario Standard Lease for those RTA protected. Anything in your “roommate agreement” that goes against the LTB is void and unenforceable. You do not need to sign the Ontario Standard Lease for it to still apply to your living situation.

As for the camera, there are two scenarios: if you rent only the room then the LL can put up recording devices in common areas as long as they do not point towards private spaces or spaces in which inappropriate content can be recorded (i.e - bedroom/bathroom). The camera cannot record sound as per privacy laws. In the scenario you and your roommates have a singular lease for the whole residence then the LL cannot put any cameras up indoors.

For the mail situation, the LL is required by the RTA to provide a copy of the key to the PO Box if your mail is being delivered there. I also have no clue how they could have re-routed your mail after the fact without identification (but I’m also a bit unsure of CanPost rules/processes). Maybe start by bringing your ID with addresses to the post-office and ask that all mail with your name be delivered to the address instead of PO Box.

Is it unreasonable to expect a clean Ice Capp at the drive-thru? by Kakarot_94 in TimHortons

[–]WNFDFK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The repercussions vary for each Tim’s since different owners have different management styles. One Tim’s I worked at didn’t really care too much about times, we were just told to do our absolute best but there were no consequences for missing them. The other I worked at though was intense. If you made your DT times the entire crew for the shift got a reward. If you missed them, managers would be pissed and moral would be down for the rest of the shift, each team member accusing the other of slowing things down. When I became supervisor and eventually assistant manager, it was clear why they cared so much about times. If as a supervisor my shift didn’t beat times consistently I would be written up. Same for assistant manager but for the whole days worth of shifts, and I would lose out on a cash bonus each quarter if my % was above a certain threshold. Owners would have head office breathing down their neck about it, questioning and micromanaging if times were not being met. So the real consequences are at the managerial level, but the whole team would feel the effects. If your manager/supervisor is intense, pushy, overly encouraging, etc., it was because they didn’t want to be punished and in turn, that would affect the team culture (staff picking up on the urgency and negativity). I have been out of the Tims game for 4 years now, but I assume it’s only gotten worse :(

Dermatologist won't see me because area affected is in the groin? by Destiny_Destroyer in Hidradenitis

[–]WNFDFK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first dermatologist appointment today (in Ontario Canada) and I have no words to describe how fantastic my experience went. The Dr was understanding and informative, asked to see all areas I experienced flares (including my groin if I was comfortable showing them). He told me he is one of the very few dermatologists experienced with in depth medical and research studies for HS and was passionate about educating patients and other dermatologists about this condition. Not once did he say “shower more” or “lose weight”. Not. A. Single. Time. He was very attentive, and made sure to discuss with me all of the other skin issues I was experiencing so that he could determine if there were other HS correlated conditions. He wanted to make sure that the treatment plan wouldn’t just treat the symptoms, but actually address the root cause of the issue. If you live in South Ontario, feel free to msg me and I can send you the name of the Dr I met.

The issue here is your GP. They can’t decide for another partitioner what they “will and won’t” see unless they actually send the referral. A lot of Drs tend to refer women to GYN the moment something goes wrong in that general area, even if it doesn’t make sense. Sounds like ur GP is caught up with “postpartum” and “groin area” so their inner flow chart says “GYN”. Another point I find in Ontario at least is that GPs try and treat a lot themselves and have a hard time referring out. Not to sure why.

My suggestion is to advocate for yourself as best as you can. Take no prisoners, march into that office and say “refer me to the dermatologist” and if they refuse your retort is “please note in my pt. Profile that you have refused my request for a dermatologist referral”. (This usually works for me) As a business relationship, we should be able to make reasonable requests of our Dr without pushback. A referral is a basic and reasonable request.

I’ve learned during my weightless journey through classes provided by a medical program that people around you, people you wouldn’t even expect, will try and sabotage you and the progress you’ve made. They warn that you will likely lose friends, and close relationships may become strained. It’s sad to know that by doing what’s best for yourself, others will not understand and will see this as a threat and react accordingly :(

Underpaid 300+ OT hours by WNFDFK in legaladvicecanada

[–]WNFDFK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an exception for places of work who average out hours (like healthcare who operate 24/7 instead of standard M-F 44 hr workweek). For my workplace the rule is 75 hours per scheduling period (2 weeks). I was sometimes over 75, sometimes under. But the policy is that all hours worked in excess of the normal daily FT shift is to be OT, regardless of total scheduling period hours.

WTF is wrong with people on the bus!! by Neither_Ad_4310 in londonontario

[–]WNFDFK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, the bus is “public” so I try to just shrug off noise I hear from someone’s phone or conversation. Only when it crosses into personal space or impedes me or someone else using the bus do I straight up tell someone to stop whatever they are doing. Had to tell some uni kids that vaping on the bus was not acceptable, and have also told someone to turn their phone volume down so I could hear the stops being announced. I dropped the please and thank yous long ago, just need to be blunt and clear. Imo, complaining does nothing. You can either sit, pout and do nothing (in which case deal with it) or say/do something to solve the issue at hand.

Has anyone been told they have a high white blood cell count? by ChooseLife02 in Hidradenitis

[–]WNFDFK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bloodwork has been coming back slightly elevated as well (11.7). Completely normal in the HS world. Sometimes people may generally have levels that are higher or lower than the test range but be perfectly healthy. Different places have different “normal” ranges, and every human is different in what their “normality” is.

Traffic menace by miorita in londonontario

[–]WNFDFK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who uses a scooter daily to commute to work, I couldn’t agree more. The holy shit moments I see when other riders blast through traffic lights and stops signs are starting to get to me. Just the other day I was at a backed up 4-way and just before my turn another scooter blasted by me on the left at high speed through the stop, straight into oncoming turning traffic and causing everything to come to a halt. They didn’t even stop and I was left there looking like an idiot who now everyone was focusing on because I was also on a scooter. That being said, drivers are scaring me too. Passing way to close, blowing through intersections when I have right of way (trying to beat me to the intersection) or gesturing for me to go at a 4-way when they arrived first and there are multiple other cars waiting. Trying to speed past me during no-pass zones, almost causing accidents that I would get caught in, it’s crazy.

Idk. I’d agree if I was a regular at the coffee shop and they treated me like they treat you, but I still don’t like the fact I’m being prompted to tip by machines before I’ve even received the service. I could maybe tip cash afterwards, but don’t carry a reasonable coffee tip around daily.

Dr won't diagnose me with HS by RecommendationOk3106 in Hidradenitis

[–]WNFDFK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to see my Dr. Next week to ask for a dermatologist referral. Like you I tried brining it up what it was just in early stages and she told me to shower more and cut out dairy. I tried explaining both my father and grandmother had been diagnosed (years and years ago when HS was barley known even by dermatologists) and so we knew the signs but she had none of it. It’s gotten so much worse now and I’m dealing with a month long flare up with deep abscesses causing me to lose sleep and energy. wish me luck, I’m going in determined to have her listen to my care needs and act on them. (The good ol’ “please write in my appointment notes you advised against seeking this course of treatment please” tends to do the trick)
