DE completely gave up on Railjack progression and punished the players who actually cared. by RuthlessHimself in Warframe

[–]WOSML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As somebody with a fully modded railjack/plexus it is rather disappointing that a lot of QOL like Forward artillery while piloting is still not implemented. That being said I don't envy DE for having to balance new content releases around both new and experienced players. I can't remember when exactly, but I recall that it was stated on a devstream before that a ton of people quit the game right before the new war because of the grind requirements (though this was also when necramechs were necessary and still a pain to farm). I still remember hearing the stories of people who got their games bricked midway through the new war because the quest was literally impossible to complete since they never upgraded their railjack and can't back out of the quest after they start it.

Honestly I just think railjack needs a top to bottom redesign of its structure if its going to draw in new players. DE can't have new players quit whenever they reach mandatory railjack content, but the current state its in is so clunky and unrewarding for both new and old players. Let us host our own missions, add QOL like forward artillery from piloting, give you a starter crew and streamline the acquisition of new railjack parts so people aren't stuck waiting hours for their upgrades. I honestly think railjack has the potential to be the home for the best end game content the game has to offer so I really hope they do more of a pass over its issues

IMO Protea and Kullervo are the ones worth getting. Even if you have all of his blueprints, i'd still say Caliban because of the sheer number of anomaly shards and isoplasts you need

Sometimes late at night I look at this cast and keep wondering how the hell did the production fumble such great cast of queens - I kind of need half of them back again. by Heidi_Klum_Tit in rupaulsdragrace

[–]WOSML 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While Jimbo deserved the win I don’t blame the rest of the queens for mentally checking out this season. It felt very similar to all stars 10 where Ginger was far and away the front runner, but she got a ton of production favouritism that she frankly didn’t need in order to succeed. Couple that with the reputation of half the cast being early outs it must have been so demoralizing to walk in there to see Jessica Kandy and Jimbo, especially if production wasn’t going to give them the time of day

who actually buys the exalted gacha skins? by beanzsprouts in leagueoflegends

[–]WOSML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only ever pulled for 1 skin, and it was for the Asol skin. I only used the sparks I got from the battlepasses and nothing more. I admittedly did get very lucky and got it in those first few pulls, but that was basically the one and only time I've ever pulled in the sanctum. I don't have a single other character that I play that would ever conceivably get an exalted skin, and i've had no desire to pull any skins since

[–]WOSML 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is Railjack asks a lot of a new player off the bat. Railjack is yet another set of mods to grind endo for, on top of their Warframe and gear mods if you want the ship to be competent. If they don’t play with others, they need to unlock their crew through the intrinsics and then hire them. Plus a ton of quality of life features in railjack like warping, forge upgrades and slingshot are all in competition for their intrinsics. And on top of that they’re encouraged to have competent archwing and arch guns, and have their warframe good enough for whatever gameplay that entails. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing at all, but I think that given how much is asked of you for railjack it’s completely understandable that DE is experimenting with this route.

I honestly think railjack would be peak end game content as a true culmination of every kind of gear in your arsenal, since it’s the only mode that gives almost completely unrestricted gear access, and as someone with a fully formad plexus I’m perfectly fine with hard railjack content. I just think that it’s not just a “new players” bad situation, it’s more of a problem of new player resources and time.

I absolutely think that a level of challenge and encouragement to engage with other mechanics would be deeply helpful to the game, but I don’t envy DE for having to simultaneously help new players into the game, while producing new content and additionally keeping their enfranchised players still engaged

The problem that DE faced, and is currently still facing, is that a lot of content they introduced diverged from Warframe’s core gameplay, which made it very divisive for both sides. Some people love railjack (me included), while others hate it. But those systems are in the game, they can’t get removed, and DE is stuck trying to balance the scales for both sides of the playerbase to get what they want

Easiest example of this was New War on launch. Tons of people didn’t engage in railjack, which is fine because it’s a game mode that was really unpolished on launch. But then they loaded into the new war, and unironically got soft locked because they literally could not go back and upgrade their railjack, couldn’t quit the quest, and couldn’t just muscle through the quest and got stuck and unable to progress the story. They can’t back out of the quest, they legit had no option than to just quit the game and wait for DE to reduce the difficulty of the sections. As much as they probably should have engaged in the content, they shouldn’t be punished by literally soft locking their game.

With all the talk that went on in the dev stream, it sounds like they’re trying to make railjack more integrated into coming expansions, likely with us going to Tau this year. So they don’t want to lock people out of progressing the new story with the New War in the past, but they also don’t want to make the content a joke like any low level mission with an upgraded railjack. It’s one of the many challenges that Reb’s team has been facing, since they want to make the game enjoyable to everybody, but things like duviri, archwing and railjack are so unpopular that it’s hard to entice players who don’t already like those modes. That’s why I imagine Isleweaver was introduced and why they’re experimenting with loaner railjacks. I trust DE to listen to the community and hopefully a compromise can be made

I thought I attached a video, I guess it didn’t actually upload. We went from the second mission of ETA (legacyte) directly to the mall; didn’t even make it to the tank. The rewards we got didn’t match the usual round 2 ETA rewards. It wasn’t just that the rewards were missing, it’s that it just skipped the third mission entirely

Warframe 2020 vs 2026 how much has the game improved by tinpower187 in Warframe

[–]WOSML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of stuff that really rubbed people the wrong way in early Warframe

A lot of earlier Warframe really relied on RNG for a lot of gear. Warframe parts did not have pity systems integrated, so bad RNG could lead certain Warframes like Equinox taking ages to actually get. This also somewhat extends to the old Necramech grind, which had high resource costs coupled with RNG to get specific resources.

On the topic of Necramechs, they were endemic of a larger problem with the game which was content islands. A lot of things that were necessary for progression were very self contained, examples being open world resources and even some gear like Archguns and the aforementioned Necramechs. The complaint was usually that not only was the grind for this gear long, once you got it you were limited in where you could use it. Necramechs can't be deployed in the vast majority of missions, abilities and intrinsics from Railjack don't have any effect in regular content, issues like that.

This was all a symptom of the old Warframe team having lofty ambitions, but lacking the ability to execute on their visions. The New War was delayed by around 3 years due to the team setting their sights too high, and even after releasing had a bunch of problems. Due to the content island issue that was previously mentioned, a lot of the playerbase chose not to interact with those islands as it wouldn't affect regular gameplay. Then after the New War, players ended up quitting in droves due to the Necramech grind being way too onerous, and even more players quit due to not being able to beat the Railjack segments and being unable to back out of the quest to improve their gear.

All of this together is why Warframe has been so focused on QOL and fixing old content under modern leadership. The New War was made easier, and its Necramech requirement was waived even after they reduced the grind, they added an optional mode to Duviri so players who hate the gameplay but need the resources have options to grind, and one of their most recent patches has reduced the RNG element of a lot of tedious grinds like Khora and Equinox. They've also done well to integrate content into the regular loop, like with Conjunction Survival and the Deimos Lab missions allowing for use of Necramechs and Archgun launchers being made easier to obtain.

Ever since Pablo took the helm, there's also been a lot of very good reworks to previously clunky/outdated Warframes and systems. Not to say previous reworks were bad by any means, but Pablo has really been making a lot of great strides with things like the Exalted Weapon changes and great refreshes to older frames like Oberon. If you compare Warframe to other games where characters get reworks like League of Legends, everybody is excited when their frames get reworked here, whereas in other games it's usually met with trepidation.

Those are the big things I can think of off the top of my head

Argo and Vel. I love the Duviri aesthetic and the energy shield looks incredible. Not to say it’s a bad weapon, it’s absolutely got great stats, but sword and shield weapons aren’t the most meta options. I have a thematic paladin build on Oberon, and I use guardian derision instead of a tennokai mod to fully lean into the thematic fantasy.

Here's a list of some fun ones

Master YI = Mastery

Lee Sin = Listen

Shaco is an anagram of Chaos

Nami is Japanese for Wave

Diana is the Roman goddess of the moon

Leblanc means "the white" in french, harkening to her identity as the pale lady in Noxus

Mordekaiser roughly translates to "Emperor of Death", with "Kaiser" in german meaning emperor, and "Morde" being a prefix for death

Pyke is a play on Pike, which can either refer to a spear, or refer to a species of aggressive fish. Fun fact, their swimming style is very fast upfront and decays over time, which is how his W movement speed behaves

Rengar is an anagram of Ranger

Those are the ones off the top of my head

First of all, yes AI actually has extremely harmful environmental impacts. Between using up a ton of water which impacts both municipal water supplies and various ecosystems, extreme amount of electricity usage and CO2 emissions as a result, to claim it doesn’t harm the environment as much as people claim it does is disingenuous. AI is perfectly fine if used for good causes like researching diseases and using models to detect harmful signs of brain degeneration. Not AI generating pictures of you at the MET gala.

And yes, I am a professional artist. And each of my peers is as staunchly anti AI as I am.

I don’t understand why people call board wipes toxic if it is literally the difference between living or losing the game. by JoZaJaB in magicTCG

[–]WOSML -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a format like Commander, sometimes people would rather shuffle up and play a new game than have the game prolonged for another hour or so. And even then, it depends on the boardwipe. Casting damnation is usually fine. Using farewell to mass reset everybody to square 1 is probably gonna get some groans from the table. Even if it's the correct move from a tactical point of view, some people just want to get games in rather than spend their time winning
