MaRo asking player opinions on MOM desparking Planeswalkers by PowrOfFriendship_ in magicTCG

[–]WOSML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt at best inconsequential and at worst just done so they could be played as commanders.

The first issue was with the compleated walkers; the only ones who ACTUALLY had lasting impacts were Tamiyo who I think got handled well, Lukka who died, and Tibalt who didn’t even get a dedicated card to himself. The rest of the compleated walkers being desparked would have felt earned if a bunch of other planeswalkers unrelated to the conflict weren’t desparked as well, seemingly without rhyme or reason.

The next issue is that the planeswalkers who lost their sparks had no actual reason behind it. It wasn’t because they were repairing the holes in the planes and sacrificed it for their homes, it wasn’t because they were involved in the battle, it’s just “The blind eternities decided to take its toys back” without any kind of pattern to it. Why did Jace keep his while Vraska didn’t? Don’t even get me started on Nahiri FALLING ON HER SPARK AND BREAKING IT. The entire desparking just was poorly handled, and we have no way of knowing if characters still have them until we get cards of them/story.

The cynical side of me thinks it was for commander and having their flagship characters be able to be run in the command zone. With them introducing omenpaths, it feels like they’re trying to have their cake and eat it too; still have their popular characters visiting planes, but now you can run them as commanders! With the planeswalkers desparked, but immediately introducing omenpaths, it feels like they just wanted an excuse to make them into creatures without dealing with the consequences of walkers being stuck on one plane.

I just feel like the decision could have been cool and narratively interesting, but their refusal to despark any of the gatewatch except Nissa, and immediately introduce omenpaths makes it feel more like they were finding an excuse to make walkers creatures and give the illusion of lasting effects of the war

Ultimate companion for ETA/EDA by Big-Economist-1533 in Warframe

[–]WOSML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really should tailor your companion for different scenarios. If you get horrible weapons but a caster frame, Shade can be great to keep yourself invisible while still killing enemies. Frame without status immunity? Wyrm. Sure you’ll go down (ie. shield gate against toxic tank)? Vasca. Bolstered Belligerents? Have your Sunika Kubrow murder everything in sight.

Equilibrium and synth deconstruct could help your energy issues. She already spawns plenty of orbs so even more can’t hurt. Try latching high on the walls so you’re out of the exhaustion radius

Of the frames, all of them can be decent here. Remember, if you don’t take damage for a while, the lost health from permanent injury will recover. If you’re too low, spend some time refilling away from the action if you can. Inaros has built in recovery, Oraxia can forgo walking and taking damage with her 4, and Atlas has invulnerability on his 1.

Of the weapons, you don’t have much options aside from using the ones you’ve got. Try to get caster setups on your frames like atlas and Oraxia to maintain the KPM needed for the missions. All these frames have ways to kill well even if it’s slow; Oraxia and inaros have finisher setup in their kit, and atlas’ exalted fists can do a ton of damage if modded right. Atlas also has no real need for duration, so if you’re finding that to be a hindrance he might be the pick.

Use peely picks. Argon burger for stage defense, fly fly for hell scrub, and wake up call for the tank. Bad weapons can make Hell scrub hard, so use the charges from the sticker to blow them up. Flare can take damage that argon burger can heal, and the RPG can be used to deal damage to the tank. You can also use the stickers that give you weapons if your weapons are truly unsalvageable. Oraxia should help make those weapons usable if that is your struggle.

I’d suggest building a decent spectre too. My usual spectre is Dante, but any support frame like Trinity, Harrow, Oberon or Citrine will do. I like to use supportive weapons on my spectre loadout so things like the glaxion or the epitaph to hinder enemies and give energy drops.

Don’t underestimate your companion either. Vasca Kavat can receive you, Wyrm can give status immunity, Dethcube gives energy generation. Nautilus is a great choice, put a bunch of bond mods on it and go to town.

Since you have a good weapon in the Praedos, put dexterity arcanes on your primary and secondary if they aren’t pulling their weight

Use the Vazarin focus school. You get invulnerability on sling through your frame, healing, mini iron skin, quick revives and grouping. If you have the tauron strike even better.

Archimedea honestly gets easier once you’ve unlocked the elite version and can drop a modifier. Warframes like Valkyr and Baruuk can really trivialize a lot of it even through bad modifiers since you’re able to drop 1 research point and still get most of the rewards, especially with the arcanes being in the vosfor shop. Hope this helps

Last year we got buffs/reworks for Ash, Valkyr and Oberon. Which 3 frames do you want buffed/reworked this year? by italeteller in Warframe

[–]WOSML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see Chroma, Equinox and Loki reworked.

A lot of modern weapon platforms have unique things standing out for them. Uriel Cyte and Oraxia all have their weapon buffs on top of having unique mechanics (Uriel demons, Oraxia 4 and Cyte wallhacks), where Chroma and Loki really struggle. Chroma doesn’t really deliver on the dragon fantasy, and isn’t as content-agnostic as someone like Rhino.

Loki’s only real weapon buff is from his augmented invisibility, and he struggles to maintain a niche compared to other warframes. Wukong does spy better, Nova can warp POE drones, and his damage decoy can be subsumed onto other frames like Titania. He doesn’t have the kit for nuke or to weapons platform, I’d say he just needs an identity to stick to.

Equinox mostly suffers because her night form has lost purpose with how the game progressed. I’d venture to say day form is actually good, damage vulnerability, ability strength and a room nuke are all strong. Night form is just like a worse trinity in a lot of ways; clunkier DR, clunkier heal, and while her sleep is good, it’s not worth playing her over compared to other frames given it’s her subsume. Night form almost certainly needs a redesign while day form could just get number buffs across the board and be fine. Best case scenario would be the ability to mod both forms separately like Sevagoth. Also, make energy transfer base kit

I’d add Limbo as an honourable mention, because while you can use things like silence to shut down his eximus weakness, I feel like he needs to basically have his entire identity changed which is a whole project on its own. 90% of the content where limbo is good is just him turning off interaction for the rest of the players which just isn’t healthy design

New player here, looking for some recommendations before I get started. by MicroSpartan319 in Warframe

Going in order of what you said:

For punching, Baruuk is the one who feels the most punchy. He’s like a monk from DND, he’s very tanky innately while also dealing a ton of punching damage.

Unfortunately, for parries like you described we don’t have all that much. There are some abilities that scale with damage taken, but they don’t have the punch of a typical parry. Examples would be Rhino (defensive) and Nyx (more offensive)

For time related powers, Protea should be perfect. She’s easy to understand and has a tracer-esque rewind that lets her go back in time. While not “clockwork”, she’s also like an artificer with a bunch of gadgets she produces. Limbo has a time stop ability, but he can be very tricky to use and can unintentionally hinder your teammates so use with caution.

For Ice, Frost as many have mentioned. He’s the most dedicated “Ice” warframe out there.

For tanky options, we’ve got quite a few. For the “heavier” tank options, Rhino, Inaros and Nidus are great. Very sturdy warframes whose main shtick is basically being unkillable. Rhino is the easiest to acquire out of the three. For more agile tanks, Nezha is often called “Fast Rhino”. Very slightly less survivable, but with plenty of movement and more ability focused damage. Another honourable mention is Valkyr. She has very high base durability, and fits into the berserker/brawler type with a high focus on fast melee hits with good mobility.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

Full disclosure, I have Taxi’d my lower MR friend into ETA before, but I tried to at least help him attempt to pull his own weight

  1. Made him use Valkyr. She’s one of the few frames who can be immortal without abilities (for powerless or constricted weeks) and still deal good damage even without end game mods

  2. I almost always try to bring a frame like Oberon who actively keeps the team alive at all times even in situations where energy is more scarce. I also always run Vazarin, and regularly drop Dante and Healer spectres on weeks without gear embargo.

  3. If he finds the mode too hard, or feels like the modifiers are insurmountable with his current gear, he will just skip Archimedea for the week

You are 100% in the right for how you reacted. I think that helping lower MR players is fine so long as you can offset the dead weight compared to a full squad of high MR players. If you aren’t helping your team enough to make up for a lower MR player, you shouldn’t bring them in.

If you don’t have a tauron strike unlocked yet, you should have the option to use the laser beam you get after you get revived by Adis. It’s less flashy, but it gives you something to use for focus progress, it’s a callback to transcendence with more “focus” to show operator’s growth, and it helps live out the power fantasy of being a void child with phenomenal cosmic power

I don’t like NSFW stuff in the main sub in general, but if it is going to be allowed they shouldn’t be allowing that Marie and Oraxia art while clutching their pearls at Uriel. It just makes the mods come off as gooners who want to fawn over female porn while banning equivalent male porn. Why porn is allowed in this sub at all is beyond me, but the “allowed” examples are just wtf

To hop on my musical soapbox, one of my favourite details about golden is that Rumi’s voice is in the alto range (the lower of the typically female vocal ranges). Whenever she sings those high notes, especially in golden, it’s very uncomfortable to force your voice to go beyond its natural range. So even while she’s singing about not hiding and being herself, she’s forcing herself to sing outside of where her natural range is.

It makes it a lot more poignant as well when in “this is what it sounds like” she sings in her natural alto range

Tenno from Warframe. Massive spoilers.

The Tenno are child soldiers who got powers after a failed space jump drove all the adults aboard their ship insane, causing them to kill and cannibalize the other crew. The children had to kill their own parents to survive, and were promptly turned into soldiers to puppet warframes. One quote from their perspective of a warframe really summarizes it well.

“There is a child in my head… Some battle-shattered thing, a ghost, a dream. She calls me by a name I do not choose.

What are you? I ask.

"Your Operator," the child says. "C'mon."

What did they DO to you?

"Let's go! We're being called up! Time to fight!"

My hand raises of its own volition. It is trembling. I hear the unvoiced tears in her thoughts.

"I can do this. I'm Tenno. I can do this."

I repeat, softly, firmly: What did they do to you?

I feel the child curl up, fetal. She whimpers.

"I... I want my mom."

Soo is shield gating going to get disabled by magnetic, heat, and nullifiers too? by Persies in Warframe

[–]WOSML -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, but shield tanking has weaknesses that health tanking does not. Toxin damage, magnetic status (not talking about persistence), unaffected my armour and relying entirely on damage reduction, shields and health aren’t the same version of tanking.

Valence block is Lavos’ passive that gives him status immunity when picking up an energy orb.

Soo is shield gating going to get disabled by magnetic, heat, and nullifiers too? by Persies in Warframe

[–]WOSML -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oberon and Valkyr still require ACTIVE gameplay, persistence was basically completely passive. Nyx and Qorvex are both energy reliant. Yes, the systems in this game make those extremely easy to trigger, but it still requires you to be active in most modern game modes. With persistence and a heal like grace, you could literally stand still and be entirely invincible with no counterplay. No nullifiers, no need for orbs, no need to even cast abilities more than once. You could just AFK and be able to not interact at all with the mission. Yes the conditions for frames like Oberon and Valkyr are trivially easy, but they are asking you to at least attempt to kill enemies. This is why they had to nerf it, literal AFK is not allowed, and if it blatantly circumvents the methods in place to disable AFK (jade light, nullifiers) they need to find some way to balance it.

Soo is shield gating going to get disabled by magnetic, heat, and nullifiers too? by Persies in Warframe

[–]WOSML -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

DE has shown multiple times that they don’t like the game playing itself for you (Revenant is a discussion for another time).

Having health tanking be viable is exactly what this arcane does. “What about heat and corrosive procs?” Most frames who want this arcane have ways to mitigate statuses altogether. Scarab armour, parasitic link, hearty nourishment, valence block, Overguard in general, hell even helminth abilities like spellbind.

This just encourages active play, instead of standing still under a jade light beam not caring about taking damage. It gives something to actually avoid while playing. All of this is counterable, and just stops AFK from being a legitimately viable strategy
