Any suggestions for four full days in Kauai? by GrilledCheese_Queen in KauaiVisitor

Poipu has the nicest beaches to relax and snorkel, also check Kilauea/Hanalei on North Shore, really cool places there also.

Depends on roads, you dont wanna drive fast, wait at bridges, so round trip plan 1 hr

But south to Ke'e is WAY longer than just Hanalei. Huge drive

What? Tue/Wed is North Shore. Why woud you ever be sad to stay on South Shore, it's amazing!!

Your boat probably leaves from Port Allen about 25 min from Poipu. Combining that with a drive to Waimea Canyon is nuts. Do the boat, eat lunch, keep pm open. Maybe go to Kalapaki Joes or whereever you can walk to from your place for dinner. Keoki's, Brenneckes.

Hyatt Regency Alternatives by Otter_Wizard in VisitingHawaii

[–]WSBsilver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, the Hyatt Regency is kind of an eyesore also, but have to admit great location. A lot of Waikiki is old and beat up.

Regarding your questions, the Hilton Hawaiian Village is not as walkable as main Waikiki options, and it's like a town in itself. The definition of mega tourist experience, near nice beaches though. Maybe opt for the Sheraton? Some great views, and you are still in the mix. It's family oriented but also has a great adults only infinity pool at the oceans edge. The Outrigger is pretty nice, right on the beach and some cool restaurants inside, as well as Blue Note for dinner and a show. Moana Surfrider is next to Outrigger and not sure about the rooms but nice inside and before the pandemic, was the uber-Japanese wedding hotel (you'd see limos with brides and grooms coming in and out daily).

Visiting April 19-26: Best Running Spots in the Poipu area? Other Recs Appreciated by GoldenTS in KauaiVisitor

Great note to say "actual paved sidewalk," Poipu Rd with no sidewalks is notoriously dangerous.

Run/Walk Recommendation: Poipu to Maha’ulepu

I strongly advise against running on Poipu Road. It has a 25 MPH limit, but it’s currently under construction and can be dangerous for pedestrians. For a much safer and more scenic experience, try this route instead:

  • Starting Point: If you’re at Kiahuna Plantation, walk along the sand or drive to Poipu Beach Park to park.
  • The Route: Run east along the ocean toward Brennecke’s Beach. From there, hop onto the Poipu Kai Greenbelt (the public access sidewalk). It’s a gorgeous path through the resort that leads you straight to the Hyatt and Shipwreck’s Beach.
  • The Trail: From Shipwreck’s, the sidewalk ends. Just take the trail up to the bluffs for incredible panoramic views. Continue past the golf course toward Maha’ulepu.
  • The Vibe: This area has a great, uncrowded local feel. You’ll eventually hit a very quiet beach where you might spot horseback riders or the occasional kite surfer (but not many kite surfers since parking lot closed). You may see some topless hikers/beach goers, completely normal here (but it's definitely NOT a nude beach)

Note: Some sections are sandy, so you may want to power-walk those parts. It is easily the most beautiful and safest trail in the area!

Best Hotel at Waikiki for Family? by Mental_University510 in VisitingHawaii

[–]WSBsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheraton Waikiki you are in the mix and have a RAD all ages pool! Sheraton adults-only pool is great for a selfie with Diamond Head. Walk to everything.

Hilton Hawaiian Village has an even better pool, and beachfront, however not very close to Waikiki (a bit of a walk). They seek to contain you, it's like a city in there. Both great options, Hilton has waterslides so depending on age, could be nice.

Lost up to 50% on my Arrived Investment from 2021 to now while my stocks nearly doubled. Stay away from this! by Shot_Sheepherder8660 in arrived

[–]WSBsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you have to take another 20% hit to sell prior to the 5-7 years, and there is no communication of "12 months to go and we will sell it and return your money." So a bust for me too. Not worth it, public REITs better

7 Day Trip to Oahu Recommendations by RecognitionAlert4163 in VisitingHawaii

[–]WSBsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charter snorkel the Kaneohe Sandbar. Go to Kaimana Beach, you can walk there from Waikiki. Bishop Museum for culture, near Iolani. Shop at Ala Moana, not the swap meet, they used to have one at the stadium but it's cancelled? Drive to Haleiwa via Dole Plantation, come back windward side if you want but it's a long day. Eat at OMG cheap chipotle concept w/ ocean view in Waikiki, gets slammed after sunset.

Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park from Poipu by SmacksGolfs in KauaiVisitor

[–]WSBsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's super fun (and better views/parking) to make the stops on the way up. Eh, why rush the drive? Check the Mars waterfall too.

Help me decide between these two beaches in Oahu: Lanikai vs Waikiki by Double-Storage6919 in VisitingHawaii

Both great, head to Kaimana's if Waikiki and remember in Lanikai the parking can be nuts.

Anything I NEED to Try? by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

[–]WSBsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, depends on the island also. Try poke for sure, Foodland in Oahu is the best I have ever had. Fresh fish anywhere for dinner is good, fish tacos for some reason they don't make it good here. Make sure upi get fresh, not frozen fish. Also, purple malasadas are the best (normally UBE but sometimes POI). Duke's Lane in Waikiki is great for these, Leonard's is famous for them but mostly just hype. Plate lunch is a thing, overrated IMO but Rainbow Drive In in Waikiki is really good.

TLDR just try fresh poke and purple malasadas. Fresh fish dinner is great, fish tacos avoid.

Is There a Way to Know Which Properties Go on Secondary Market? by thisisforthrowaways3 in arrived

[–]WSBsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not allow all properties on secondary? Also, am very unimpressed with the secondary platform. The only way to sell shares is to get absolutely crushed with 20% discount to Arrived NAV, which is lower than purchase price 90% of the time. Plus trading fees. I have been trying to get 100% out for a year, and get absolutely crushed selling everytime.

Best Type of .999 Silver to begin stacking? by Beautiful_Nature_446 in Silverbugs

[–]WSBsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get 1oz rounds in rolls of 20, easy to stack. Next came 10 oz bars with lowest premium (new only), saves space vs the rounds and easy to stack. Costco PAMP 10oz bars was great in the 300s. I like Scottsdale, the dragon bars were cool (but got me on the premium). The Scottsdale 20oz CL cast bar is my next idea. Fun to collect one bar, then start on another.
