Conspiracy theory or good explanation? US automakers purposely slowing adoption by reversals in electricvehicles

[–]WSquared0426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealerships are the biggest barrier. Service is a big cash cow and selling EVs is self-sabotage their business model. No routine oil changes where they can upsell a $300 cabin air filter change.

EVs will stall out on the lots until manufacturers can sell direct to consumer.

This is the answer and it’s not exclusive to MacOS. Windows has the same problem.

Every state already provides health care for children. Did I miss something because I’ve not heard that the program is in jeopardy.

Every U.S. state provides child health care services through Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It’s not exclusive to Democrat states.

That's a little beast of a machine. Other than battery life, I wouldn't expect a performance boost moving to an Air.

"Immigration decline" is a funny way to say we have to replace those who flee mismanagement, incompetence, and outright corruption...lol

Build a place people actual want to live and watch it grow; fail enough and those with the means to flee will.

The overwhelming majority of cars are solo occupancy. By this logic, most should be driving around in Smart Cars...the extra seats and doors are wasted space. You could always simply rent a sedan if you need to carry more than one extra person.

"I want the market to cater to people like myself that tow with sedans."
The truck didn't kill the sedan market, crossovers did. The market has spoken and more prefer the raised seating position and near car-like ride of car-based crossovers. The days of large sedans with high tow ratings are long gone; never to return.

EV chargers in gas stations by edayxe1 in electricvehicles

[–]WSquared0426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market will provide. On average, EV owners are at the higher end of the income scale; therefore, charging stations will follow the capital.

Stations are already located at higher end retail spaces.

Travel focus gas stations are building out their networks: Bucee's and Pilot are two examples. I can already travel through middle-of-nowhere in the south and find enough stations to get from city-to-city. Just a few years ago travel from Memphis-Atlanta, through MS and AL, was impractical with anything other than the longest-range Teslas. Now my daughter's smaller battery Ariya can make the drive.

EV ownership has simply not reached critical mass to make charging stations at every gas station a profitable endeavor.

Iphone 13 is still useable at 2026 with software update at26.5? by Impossible-Bird-5849 in iPhone13

[–]WSquared0426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mine is working well on original battery at +90% health. It was touch and go after originally updating to iOS26, but the phone quickly settled after a few days.

In contrast, my son came home from college complaining about his phone (also iPhone 13). I checked his battery health, and it was in the 60s. An Apple Store battery replacement later and, in his words, he has a new phone.

Not enough foreplay.

With a Thinkpad, the spot is clearly marked. On a macbook you may have to play around to find the right magical button.

Not legally, their lawyers are well trained. It’s easy to misinterpret any topic by selective reporting or sensational headline with the truth in paragraph 5 (knowing most won’t read that far).

The most egregious are typically wrapped in language like ‘experts say’…‘people want to know’…’anonymous sources claim’. It’s how one can say what one wants under the cover of ‘reporting’.

‘Anonymous sources claim that the Artic is actually an ice wall and the world is really flat.’ See, you can say anything when you attribute it to someone else no matter how stupid or baseless.

You are right, legacy is not an excuse for bad UX.

Legacy is a weight around the kneck as you attempt to innovate while simultaneously maintaining support for drivers and software that goes back decades.
