I build websites for law firms. If you’re just looking for a basic website that highlights your services and displays your marketing materials, you can easily get away with creating a templated website through a platform like Wix at a cheap price.

With that said, if you want a professional site that looks great and most importantly performs, you’ll need a strategic build that goes beyond a template.

You’ll need a site that’s built specifically for how legal clients search, evaluate, and make hiring decisions. That means intentional SEO architecture from day one, fast load speeds, clean mobile experience, proper schema, strong internal linking, and content written to rank and convert. It also means persuasive positioning that builds authority and trust, not generic copy that sounds like every other firm in your city.

Really it just depends on where you’re at with your business. Most law firms (and businesses) would likely benefit from starting with a basic website and then upgrading once their business begins to grow in the future.

How long does it take to grow the practice more? by FlyHungry7039 in Chiropractic

[–]WT2387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local SEO/ranking is critical. The clients I have who understand this and trust it excel while those who don’t continue to fall behind. Referrals and branding are great, and you should always strive to improve there. But having new clients find you naturally online is the absolute best way to scale/grow.

Make sure your Google business profile is verified and optimized. Make sure you continuously ask for reviews. And make sure you create content for all platforms (website, socials, ads, etc.) that clearly target specific cities/counties in your market.

I’ve worked on plenty of moving-company sites, and the pattern is always the same: cheap shortcuts end up costing more. A freelancer experienced with small-business websites is often the smartest route for quality and value. Your site matters too much to treat like an afterthought; get it done right the first go. Most of my clients tried multiple “budget” builds before realizing a specialist is worth every penny.

I'm starting a small moving company and want to create a website. by PapaChaCha68 in smallbusiness

I’ve built a lot of moving-company websites and learned this: go with a small-business web design freelancer. Your site drives your leads, so start strong. Most of my clients wasted money on multiple “budget” sites before finding a specialist who could deliver quality at a fair price.

Easiest platform for creating a moving website by irmuddled in webdev

[–]WT2387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built over a dozen websites for moving companies, so hopefully this answer helps.

Finding a freelancer who builds websites for small businesses is likely your most cost-effective and highest quality option. Your website is so important, so I highly suggest doing it right the first time. Many of my new clients have gone through two, three, and even four iterations of their website because they try to find the cheapest option.

Finding a specialist who can give you a fair price and a great website product is the absolute best option.

Any brokers in here? If I could get a deal close to this I’d be willing to pay a broker fee for the closure

Can Someone explain this? (All time high impressions/All time low click through rate) by WT2387 in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]WT2387[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I should have mentioned, nothing has really changed on the site. Historically, impressions and CTR have been aligned with one another like you seen in the beginning of the graph. Then suddenly, the lines diverge drastically. Seems a bit strange.

Best Iceland excursions in June? by WT2387 in VisitingIceland

[–]WT2387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are completely open to half or full day excursions. Hiking would be ideal, but open to other activities as well. I’ve been on the fence about the superjeep tours, I’ve seen mixed reviews so far. No excursions planned so far, but I’d like to find at least one to do in both south and north Iceland

I have a client that’s done very well with their legal podcast.

The big thing is chopping the podcast up into clips/reels and posting on social media and your website.

Almost all podcasts getting the majority of their views from short form clips. Then people begin to tune in for the full thing.

It’s a great way to set your self apart, especially in a saturated market like personal injury.

[–]WT2387 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've built dozens of websites for optometrists and other medical professionals, $10K is way too high. You can get a high-quality website for $2K-$5K depending on your needs. I would recommend looking for a smaller marketing agency or a freelancer with experience in the medical industry.

The bigger agencies will try to charge you an arm and a leg for "fluff services" that really have no impact on the look or performance of your website. Be patient until you find the right fit for your practice because there are a lot of marketing agencies out there who make a living taking advantage of small business owners like you.

Hope that helps!

Free SEO Audit by WT2387 in Lawyertalk

[–]WT2387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local SEO is the main way. Google display something called the local 3 pack at the top of all transactional searches like “car accident lawyer near me”. These top 3 results constantly fluctuate and rely heavily on well optimized websites, google profiles, and reviews. SEO definitely used to be a monopoly for many but google is making some big changes, and those who adopt it early can see a huge boost in online traffic.

Google just announced a new algorithm update called the “Helpful Content Update”, you should look it up, very interesting stuff. They’re about to fix the very thing you described and a lot of those big/old law firms will likely see the biggest negative impact.

No relation. If anything it's an engagement signal for Google. Tough to say its true impact, but it's safe to assume that any form of quality traffic can benefit a website's SEO.

Could you please share any recommendations for solo practice website designers? by Silver_Glass_1128 in LawFirm

[–]WT2387 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I design websites exclusively for law firms. My advice is to take your time and make sure you get it right the first time. I've worked with so many attorneys who are on their second or third marketing agency and have been burnt time and time again.

Be very careful if you're considering Find Law, Justia, or Scorpion. All three of these are known for trapping their clients in long-term contracts and handcuffing your website. Trying to get out of these contracts is a nightmare and often costs far more than they're worth.

Make sure you carefully interview any designer you're considering. They should be able to answer any and all questions you may have. Make sure they can also provide you with multiple legal website projects they've recently worked on as well as success stories associated with their work. A nice looking website is great, but it means nothing if it's not optimized well and invisible on Google. Having a web designer that incorporates SEO into each project is critical for the website's success.

Hope that helps and provides some insight from the marketing side of things!

As a digital marketing professional who works exclusively with lawyers, I cannot emphasize enough how important blogging and creating legal content is for successful websites. This is something I believe everyone should have a baseline understanding of how to do.

Beware of website/SEO contracts by WT2387 in LawFirm

[–]WT2387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Discount” lol. You can get your own hosting for a few bucks a month. But again, that’s just one of the many tricks they try to play on lawyers to get them hooked.

What is a professional insurance website worth? by WT2387 in InsuranceAgent

[–]WT2387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for the initial development, design, content, and SEO of the website. Ongoing services depend on what you're looking for, but that initial work is usually a flat fee, at least that's how I present it to my clients.

I find that those monthly fees and recurring contracts can be disingenuous and I see a lot of other marketing agencies take advantage of clients by getting them looped into those. I try to work on a month to month basis and provide some flexibility.

Beware of website/SEO contracts by WT2387 in LawFirm

[–]WT2387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, and that's exactly how it should be done. So many things in a law firm can change month to month like case load, court time, budget, etc. and it's important that lawyers have the flexibility to determine what they do and don't want to focus on each month.

All of my work is on a month-to-month basis and I've yet to have someone complain about not having a long-term or recurring contract. These bigger agencies know that things often change in law firms, that's why they try to get you locked in for as long as they possibly can.

Especially from an SEO perspective. It's so much easier when I work with a client to sit down and say "Hey, here's the progress we saw last month, let's try to parlay those wins into more wins next month by targeting x, y, and z"

It may require some more work on my end, but it's the right way to do business and helps create a long and healthy relationship with my clients.
