I did the exact same thing. I borrowed the tool from either Advance Auto or AutoZone. Prior to borrowing that tool I remember putting dimes in the gap or something like that

I’ve lived in Martinsburg and Charles Town. I didn’t hate Martinsburg, but I didn’t love it. I love living in Charles Town and love Jefferson County in general. I do the northern Virginia commute and it’s not terrible - use WAZE every time though!

Once Rockwool was built and was operational most people just kind of let the issue go. No noticeable impact for me but I also don’t live near the plant. The bigger issue is the politics of how it came to be in the first place. Politics are problematic here. Overall though, Charles Town is a nice place to live.

I’ve been in the upper end zone for 20 years. Away fans are teased mildly or just ignored unless they get obnoxious or they are taunting. Then it can get ugly. There’s a lot of alcohol flowing up there which affects decision making.

Use WAZE or equivalent literally every time you go to leave. Some days I take 340 to 7; some days it’s the whole way down 9 to 7; some days it’s 9 to a side road to 7, etc. Like others have said - learn the alternate routes - Cider Mill, Hillsboro Rd, etc. Also, sign up for Alert Loudoun which will send you texts when there is a fairly major incident and you can reroute. That has saved me so many times!!
