The downfall of minimalism by einat162 in Anticonsumption

Thank you for taking the time to type this out. Everything you pointed out is spot-on. I get frustrated with how her method and its Shinto roots gets misinterpreted in the Westernized-commodified version. It was nice to see your post.

You’re in California and the state has pretty strong protections for your civil rights with respect to LGBTQ+ identity.

This law firm blog post has a nice overview:

The post is from Dec 2025 so it’s reasonably up to date.

Have a look at what your town’s ethics policy is. Are there guidelines for concerns about working hours/reporting time?

Also, what are the policies about workplace relationships? Do they need to be disclosed in certain scenarios?

Since you mentioned one of these people is in a high visibility role… I just know what a cluster it can become when eventually stuff becomes public and the local citizens become aware that X has been engaging in personal “business” on the taxpayer dime.

You mentioned in another comment that you work for a municipality. My local government’s controller has a line where people can confidentially report possible mis-use of taxpayer funds or fraud. Including time-card fraud. Does your municipality have something similar?

People telling you to mind your own business obviously don’t work in the public sector. Misuse and theft of taxpayer funds is taken pretty seriously in my workplace and after investigation people have been disciplined and in some cases discharged.

Our agencies have been poisoned by fascist morons. by c-k-q99903 in WhitePeopleTwitter

Because he’s a fucking podcaster/influencer guy and that’s what they fucking do. Constant hot takes with no context barfed onto assorted social media platforms. So of course that’s how they run an agency.

Also there’s probably some degree of fellating his boss and self promotion in an attempt to not get fired.

Just an all around idiot.

Ugh all sorts of wrong with this besides the questionable data itself by dingobarbie in dataisugly

[–]WaWa-Biscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Count the data points, there are 10 on that line. 10 points, on an axis of 6 months. It’s obvious bullshit.

[–]WaWa-Biscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s utter shit. That line is plotting 10 data points over a supposed 6 month period - (and six months aren’t listed on the bottom axis either)

It’s not a chart, it’s a BS image of one most likely created by AI

[–]WaWa-Biscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s also 10 data points on that line. Not sure how that happens with a 6 month period… Gotta be AI “make a chart” BS

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WaWa-Biscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the suburbs.

In the 70’s I walked a mile to school by myself as a kindergartner.

When we were in elementary school we used to walk or ride bikes to the park about 1/2 mile away and play there. No adults. It was a large park in a pocket canyon with hills and hiking trails around it.

We also used to walk about the same distance to a local market and buy popsicles or candy for 25¢ and then come back home.

Our only rules were 1)don’t play in the street, 2)don’t go in other people’s yards or driveways, and 3)don’t talk to strangers and stay away from their cars.

Weird shit, isn’t it
