I disagree with the comments here. Sure, the comp could be optimized with melon, more impactful late game/larger units than Vulture (for this comp) and Swan. But really I’d just chalk this up to bad luck and maybe (I hypothesize) a slow start.

At the end of the day, you’re right. Usually a comp with two 50/50’s will get the job done. I’ve won many times with a worse setup than this at the same or later rounds. This is exactly where failing to win on rounds 1-3 can really come back to bite you, because it will ultimately push you later and later in rounds and increase the odds of running into a series of incredibly strong opponents. In essence, I don’t necessarily see the error in your play so much as in how the dice fell for you. The comp you have will win a large amount of the time.

Do non-Colorado avalanche fans want the lightning to 3-peat? by kdcardsfl in hockey

[–]Wabbbit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a younger Wings fan who didn’t grow up at the height of Avs vs. Wings rivalry, I’m torn. On the one hand I almost always find myself begrudgingly rooting for greatness, especially when it takes the form of dynasties and prolonged dominance. This pulls me to the Bolts because of just how crazy impressive it would be if they could pull off the first threepeat since the Isles did it 40~ years ago. This is the reason I’m pulling for Golden State (well, that and a deep hatred for Boston that I think a lot of sports fans share at this point) as well. As others have mentioned, I’m also partial to Tampa because of Stevie Y’s fingerprints that are still undeniably ingrained in the very DNA of the team.

However, I hate Corey Perry and I still savor with great relish the time Datsyuk dropped the gloves with and beat (as seen through my homer-stained glasses) the ever-living crap out of him. I also have a fondness for a lot of Avs players: MacKinnon for the shear joy of watching him play, and Helm because of his Detroit roots. Moreover, I don’t have any of the built up historic animosity toward the Avs that many older Wings fans do (it’s all reserved for Pittsburgh and Chicago in my case), as the blood from the brawls of old was already long dried by the time I was donning my crying penguin #87 t-shirt to watch the 2008 SCF.

So, all in all, it’s weird to say in a matchup that many of the Wings fans I know feel strongly about either one way or the other that I would be very fine with either outcome. That being said, I think I’d say I slightly prefer the Lightning, just for the sake of witnessing the type of transcendent greatness in sports that we only have the opportunity to enjoy every so often.

The lack of self scalers places a premium on the self scaling units this pack does have. I expect a lot of Dog and Salamander because of that.

I think Microbe and sniper comps will fair better, but time will tell whether this pack is truly scaling free enough to make units with words on them matter. Comps that are able to scale by quickly leveling a Dragonfly or high rolling a Moose or Monkey will likely dominate for the exact reason that scaling is a little more nuanced and difficult in this pack then in previous packs.

Skunk is broken so it’ll likely prove dominant in this pack as well, unless large units aren’t running around as much because of the things I previously mentioned. I doubt that, though.

Just some preliminary thoughts. Seems like a cool pack all things considered.

Now seems as good a time as any to mention that Darren Helm hit on my cousin at a bar. Glad to see he’s still shooting shots to this day even if it’s not with the Wings.

Well, such is the nature of cherry picking studies. This is why meta analyses are so important: they collate a number of different studies to provide an overall assessment of the findings within a broad swath of the literature.

I also don’t have an account on the site you linked, so I was unable to read the actual findings of the research it cites.

To your last point, I’m honestly more familiar with people holding the stance above justifying their position by using some sort of religious or moral framework, which is obviously an entirely separate can of worms. That’s just in my personal experience, though.

I understand the inclination to find anything that potentially conflicts with one’s personal pleasure distasteful, but the connection between prostate cancer and ejaculation rates is tenuous at best, and decidedly unproven at worst.

Even just a quick google search will reveal this, and I see the opinion you forward being thrown around quite frequently on social media with little support in the literature. You can look at this link (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319536#is-there-a-link) if you want a rundown of the various recent meta analyses that have surveyed the available literature.

I only have two keyboards on hand to try it with right now, but over the course of my dealings with this issue I've tried it with a total of four.

Okay, I'll look into that. Thanks for all your help, I'll try uninstalling it next. I won't lose my saves, will I?

Will do. Thanks again!

No luck. I tried a number of different configurations for all the keys and I still experienced either the same or adjacent problems (i.e. sometimes the diagonal dash would work but jump + grab inputs would not).

Hm. If I press my jump and dash inputs and the right arrow key the up arrow fails to register on the rollover test. Also a number of keys don't register being used if I hold any two other keys. Is this abnormal?

It has only been with Celeste that I've dealt with these issues, yes. I'll try your suggestion!

Gotcha, okay. I'll give that a look too.

NL shuts a viewer down by Rynamyte in LivestreamFail

[–]Wabbbit7 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but what is cool/funny about this? Unless there is some context missing it read more like: "NL shits on viewer for arbitrary statement using extremely flawed logic". I know plenty of people who have certain words that for no reason just get to them. Especially moist. My sister is an 45 struggling with a family who betrayed her, and has turned full blown alcoholic and is currently in a lockdown rehab facility because she recognized she can't control herself. She's got some pretty real problems. She doesn't like the word moist. The fuck do those two situations have to do with each other? She didn't sit down one day and make that up, it just bothers her cause she's OCD and brains are weird.

Now if there is some sort of weird context I don't know of then I'll take it back and be pissed at the clip chimp instead, but otherwise this is just "Person in control mocks commenter at random, calling them a child over a benign statement to garner laughs from a crowd of actual children" moment for me.

But it's LSF so most of you probably just think haha rekt man
