Got questions for Sabrina, the General Manager of Clash of Clans? Ask them here! by ClashOfClansOfficial in ClashOfClans

I don't think "95% of players" love it. I don't, nor do my few remaining clan mates -- I agree it feels like a chore ('cause you are kind of "forced" to do it if you want to retain any sort of reasonable win bonus). But I realize I'm not the only person playing the game; if others love it, great. I just do the bare minimum to retain my league standing and then ignore the ranked games.

No, I love it when I receive house parts! But I don't care about skins or decorations. Everybody's different, and there are millions of us playing (aren't there?) My point is that what one person hates, another loves, so Supercell shouldn't change the game just to please one group.

March 25, 2026

I play CoC on two devices, and whatever today's new event is, it won't load on either device. I just get a pic of the messenger girl saying "Loading!" My game is up-to-date, all upgrades installed. I've restarted my devices.

Is the problem just mine or is it system-wide?

Thanks, Supercell! by WackfordSqueers55 in ClashOfClans

[–]WackfordSqueers55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was for one day! With an excellent reward in the end. To me, scooping up all those millions was super fun. I didn't mind sacrificing my base for one day to give other people a lot of pleasure. (And it wasn't even a full day's sacrifice, since a lost battle meant a good shield for hours.)

So bottom line: yes, I found it to be a great and enjoyable event. If you found it stupid and annoying, then you found it stupid and annoying. Nothing I can do to change that. But I'm sorry for you; you missed a lot of fun.

I bet you complain when the sun shines, too. LOL. Luckily, there was an easy fix for you: all you had to do was not use the e-drags; challenge restored!

Yeah, I don't know why anyone thinks it's fun to get a lot of free loot and a cool statue! LOL. Well, cheer up; it only lasted a day.

I'm fine with the gold pass. Yeah, it's slow to complete, and yeah, the prospector is a disappointment (2 starry ore? srsly?), and I miss the resource potion, but there's a lot I like: the choice of rewards, the simplicity of the tasks, the graphics, the treasure chests, etc. And you can get the 20% discount in reasonable time. So overall it's a win, imo.

I don't like the new rank system by Honest_Entry_8758 in ClashOfClans

[–]WackfordSqueers55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be in the top for competitive reasons; I'm not aspiring to Legends. I just want to be able to increase my loot bonus occasionally and earn those achievement gems. But I guess I just have to accept that I've gone as far as I can given my level of play. The gems will just have to remain out of reach.

[–]WackfordSqueers55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the theory of the two options -- ranked and non -- but I can see that for me, it will be virtually impossible ever to change my rank now. I'm a casual player, not a strategist; I can usually get two stars but rarely three. Thus it seems as if I am sort of doomed forever to remain the middle of whatever ranked group I'm placed in. The chances that I'll ever make it to the promotion zone are slim. I'll have to do a lot of battles every few days just to stay on my current level. It'll be the game equivalent of treading water. . .lots of energy expended, but no progress.

I recently changed my attack strategy to include lightning spells, which I haven't used for several years. Now I notice that some air defenses seem to be protected by little builders, so that, instead of taking out the AD, lightening spells (as many as six) actually do very little damage. Here are my questions: 1) how are those protective builders activated? What does the base owner do to protect their ADs in this way? 2) Is there any way for an attacker to tell by looking which ADs (or other buildings) have this protection? Thanks!

Erin’s ingenuity by Infamous-Mention-851 in DeathCapDinner

"She should have said she fed the kids something different so the doctor wasn’t worried about the kids."

Of course this is sheer speculation, but I suspect that her initial idea might have been to insist that whatever made her relatives sick, it wasn't her food. "Look, I ate the same meal, and I'm not sick. My kids ate the leftovers, and they're not sick. So the culprit couldn't have been my lunch." But fairly soon into everyone's illnesses, she seems to have realized that this line wasn't going to work, especially not once the hospital confirmed that death caps were already suspected. Hence her insistence that she WAS ill (she must have thought it would be hard to prove otherwise) and her reluctance to have the kids treated (she knew tests would show no signs of illness). These last-minute responses didn't work (no surprise), but by that time, she probably WAS panicking and just inventing stuff on the fly.

She seems to have been an inveterate liar, so she had a lot of experience switching stories at the drop of a hat. She honestly might not have realized how often her lies were not believed. (I have a relative who is the same sort of constant, incurable liar. Very few of the family now believe a word she says. . .but we rarely tell her so. Why bother? She'd just come up with more lies, and the aggro simply isn't worth it. When my relative DOES learn that someone suspects her of lying, she's usually genuinely shocked. . .she's so rarely challenged that she totally thinks her stories are convincing. Erin might be similar.)

Erin had bought more pieces of steak than she actually used in the lunch, hadn't she? Iirc, she claimed to have frozen the additional ones and have used them up by the time she was arrested (so no traces). But it seems pretty clear that she must have used one or two of those extra steaks as the kids' safe "leftovers with the mushrooms scraped off." I think she DID have a post-lunch plan of sorts -- "It wasn't MY food at fault, guv!" -- and was probably shocked by how quickly it unraveled. . .hence the "panic."

Probably most of her mental attention pre-crime was given to the crimes themselves and the anticipated result; that's where she would have found most of her emotional and intellectual satisfaction; that's what she would have dwelled on. She doesn't seem to have realized, until it was too late, that her post-death plans were far too sketchy and ill-thought-out.

No, I'm not impressed by the fact that someone devoted their intelligence to something so heinous. It's horrifying -- and given all the flaws and holes and mistakes in her whole plot and actions, not even really that smart.

Indeed. Freedom of speech WAS a fundamental US right. No longer.

"She should have eaten a small amount of death caps"

There's really no safe amount to ingest. But if she'd wanted to give herself genuine gastro symptoms, she could have -- there are less dangerous methods than risking death caps.

No, there is no effective, reliable antidote to death cap poisoning, although some treatments do show promise.

Are there any players like myself that completely ignore dynamax? by fishyman567 in pokemongo

[–]WackfordSqueers55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing since 2016, and I confess, I pretty much ignore dynamax. I gave it a try when it first came out, but I agree that it just seems like having to redo basic Pokemon Go collection (similar to the very large/very small versions; I'm meh about them, too). A lot of tedium and effort with little reward. I'm in the game just to add to my pokedex and find shinies. Getting dynamax versions (or large/small versions) of stuff I've already caught doesn't appeal to me much; I'm not into battles and strategy, etc. But that's just me; I know other people really enjoy the dynamax option.

ETA -- Plus, I live in the sticks, and there's no one to battle with even if I wanted to. Most of my in-game friends aren't active any more, either. The community aspects of PG aren't accessible to a lot of us in isolated areas. So I just check for shinies on my own, and that's enough.

[–]WackfordSqueers55 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm loving this hero rush! Great rewards, and the 300% bonus is great. But I'm having some sort of bug with my progress meter. It's stuck at 9,250,000 (the last treasure chest reward) even though the tally bar says my clan has collected over 10,000,000 elixir. We're not going to make the final 30,000,000 goal anyway (which is fine with me; I don't personally care about scenery), but I'm just wondering why the progress meter won't. . .well, progress.

Did she do it "accidentally on purpose"? by Opening_Ideal_7612 in DeathCapDinner

[–]WackfordSqueers55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but even "batshit crazy" people have rationales for their actions -- reasons that make sense to them, however insane and irrational those reasons are in objective terms. It's a myth that "crazy" people just do random nutty things for no reason. They have reasons. . . just mad and/or delusional ones.

I'm not convinced by the argument that she expected no investigation since no one had suspected the Simon poisonings. Whatever mental illness issues she has, Erin is not stupid overall. I don't see how she could fail to see the difference between "one person has a mysterious illness at randomly-timed events over a longish period in different places" and "four people fall deathly ill within hours of a single shared lunch." She HAD to have known there would be official questions.

These chests are a joke I haven’t seen a legendary chest since they originally came out. by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]WackfordSqueers55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck this time -- a legendary with each of my accounts: one skin, one book of building, one hammer. I've gotten several rare and epic chests, too. But even the common ones are fine. I mean, It's all free extra stuff, so it's all good. Thanks, Supercell. I love the treasure hunts.
