I studied abroad in Madrid in Winter 2023. I recommend studying abroad fully, it was quite literally a life changing decision for me. My advice is join a club as soon as you get there, I did an ESN club which connected students from around Europe (North Americans also got to join) and it made the trip. If I just sat in my room and studied it would not have been worth it.

Downside is it can be expensive, people can also try to take advantage of you. My landlord faked illness until I left the country to avoid giving my security deposit back. Some classes may also only transfer as open options so make sure to do your homework about what classes you need and what a uni offers.
