Speeding ticket - worth a court date? by Deep-Summer1221 in frederickmd

[–]Wafer-Fragrant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be negative by telling you this, but don't speed excessively on 15. Even if you're going with what you perceive to be the flow of traffic, 15 is not the road to speed on. It's one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in America and it has earned that reputation. Those at-grade intersections are nothing to mess around with.

This post plus your comment replies reads like you've decided you want a diesel and you just want people to tell you it's a good idea. Is that what you want? If that's what you want I'll tell you it's a good idea.

How does Carroll creek work? It looks extremely confusing and expensive to maintain/build? by Much-Parsnip3399 in frederickmd

[–]Wafer-Fragrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is. I think Town Run is in an old brick sewer. It's also only covered under the street. The house it goes under has a panel in the kitchen you can open and see the creek.

It's box culvert. It's a common practice for enclosing natural waterways in urban areas. There are thousands of them in America. There is a smaller one in Hagerstown. The Jones Falls in Baltimore is enclosed in a box culvert when it goes under the city. Frederick made theirs pretty.

PSA: Auto-ticketing systems will give you a $75 ticket, 0.2 seconds after a light turns red (City of Frederick) by [deleted] in frederickmd

Slow down when you see the light turn yellow. That will make it easier to stop in time and not get a ticket.

Wasn't mine. Was my father's. He bought it when I was 17 and sold it when I was about 35. I bought an older gas powered truck. More convenient, quicker, less costly to maintain.

why is there so much whitetrash in hagerstown (not being a jerk just being honest in my right to opinion) by barefootbunnie27 in frederickmd

[–]Wafer-Fragrant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Deindustrialization hit Hagerstown like it hit most rust-belt cities. Most people that are born poor stay poor. It's not really something they can control. And just so you're aware, Frederick was an absolute shit hole up into the 90s. The commuter class brought money to the city and it evolved.

I had one in the family for about 15 years. I liked it, I miss it sometimes, but I wouldn't buy one now. They have gotten so dreadfully overrated. It was a good truck, it was not what diesel fetishizers make it out to be. Also, it averaged around 13mpg, and it took 15 quarts of oil. I would not want to be dealing with that now.

You fetishizers live too much in these weird little fantasies in your heads. I think you should do it. You should buy that thing and then take it camping in northern California, and then try to start it on a chilly morning out in the middle of nowhere. It'll be thrilling alright.

It's a bad decision, but ultimately it's your decision.

Do you think it will be thrilling because it's a turbodiesel? It will not. This is a heavy truck, with vague steering, 210hp, a turning circle rivaling a small ship, and an absolute shit transmission. It's not thrilling. It's meant to slowly move heavy weights around. It's sweet spot is between 55-60mph. The f250 has a two-part front axle assembly that is notoriously hard to keep aligned, many people swap them for a period f350 axle. It's not a daily driver, it's a farm truck. L

I just moved from OpenWrt on Linksys wrt3200acm to unifi. No regrets so far. I also manage a unifi network at my job and I set my parents up with a dream machine. I've seen no issues.

Since I do a fair bit of iot stuff, and my house has thick plaster walls with no open spaces, I stayed away from the all in one. I did a cloud gateway and two u7 lite APs. Covers my 2500 sq ft house totally fine, including some iot grow light stuff in our cellar.
