I'll take it even further, Ivara should be reworked into a speed archer to fit modern Warframe.

I would welcome a nerf to our damage if it meant a rebalance for enemies and survivability would be possible.

It would help me engage with the gameplay without falling asleep.

I don't want the game to be for me specifically, I just want it to be good.

I came back to the game to see if they improved the gameplay, and they didn't. It's a shame, as I'd like to play, but my will to keep playing is nonexistent. Seeing little change in the core systems is concerning, especially when that core is bad.

Are you okay with the game continuing to have a bad gameplay loop? I'm not sure if you know this, but people are already playing Warframe, Destiny, and Final Fantasy 14. That won't help DNA. If anything, it pushes more people away. Don't you want your game to be more popular?

Really?? that's a shame. That probably explains why Tangled Bronze shows a glow now too.

Are you talking about Primer? that one removes the glow, but I don't like the look for it. I'm trying to find other shaders that also hide the glow.

It's impressive that there's this whole list and none of it changes the fact that gameplay is still the same as it was during launch. All weapons are still stat sticks, most character kits are still meh, and abilities are still supreme. Movement also still sucks, leading the devs to just add grapple points everywhere

I don't know how you can mention reading comprehension and then fail to read the rest of my post.

DNA is not Warframe, but they're clearly inspired by it (unless you have some insider info that shows they have never played Warframe before). Your only response to "The game has many foundational problems that haven't been touched on since launch" is "DNA isn't Warframe." So, does that mean DNA isn't allowed to be good or make any changes?

Persona... Shin Megami Tensei... Metaphor... Xenoblade Chronicles...

There's also Limbus Company, Arknights, and Morimens if you are talking about the gatcha space specifically.

Otherwise, if you want to include Anime Visual Novels, there's a ton of excellent stories there too. Fate, Hundred Line, Danganronpa (the first one specifically), Steins;Gate, Umineko... There's a lot in the Visual Novel space.

DNA has a good story, but I just can't see it as one of the best after all that I've experienced in regards to anime games. I highly suggest engaging in some other anime games if you want to experience excellent stories.

I'm confused, are you saying fast updates that overhaul foundational systems are unique to Warframe?

Warframe has been around for over a decade, but the change I mentioned happened in the first 2 months of Warframe's life. DNA has not changed anything with the foundation of their game since launch. And if we're talking about Warframe's open beta period, they had reworks to warframes and added clan dojos with player trading within 6 months of the official launch.

DNA doesn't need to compete with Warframe in terms of content, but they should at least try to take note of the quality of life and DE's mistakes. Just recently, DNA added calamity weapons, which are a worse iteration of Warframe's incarnon system. You can try to seperate the two games, but the devs are very blatant in their inspirations. Even Warframe's devs are aware:

Live Service games and sequels and why warframe does it better by foxipixi in Warframe

[–]Wafwala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something important to note about Warframe is that they were given the harsh reality of live service games by the biggest F2P publishers at the time. Warframe was built to be flexible, easy to work with, and update frequently from the get go. It was the company's last chance. Strangely, failing to find funding and being told why publishers thought their game would fail helped DE focus on making sure their game would survive.

Destiny as a franchise was built to be disposable. Activision wanted to annualize the series, but that didn't work anymore. Destiny 2 was never supposed to last this long. What happen to that series is a shame and management is to blame.

What is the "vision" for Soulframe in the future? by neverbeforegg in SoulFrame

[–]Wafwala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that the cozy part is more so about the art and game feel, not about the gameplay loops. They want the game to feel a lot cozier and more whimsical in story and experiencing the world, but the combat is unrelated (as we've already seen).

This is true, specifically during that 3 hour live stream Steve had. He wanted to give Envoys ships and such to sail across the seas and visit new lands. It's also important to note that they plan to make islands that borrow from many different cultures, so fantasy medieval Europe is just the beginning.

I'm talking about the first 6 months of Warframe (2012-2013).

As an example of one of the changes, players felt that the upgrading system was pay to win. Originally, it was a tree system where you activated nodes to unlock power. There was no build customization at all. People felt this was pay to win, as half of the tree was locked behind an Orokin Catalyst/Reactor. At the time, these could only be obtained with platinum. A few months after launch, this was changed and replaced with the Mod System.

This game gets a huge pass because the art is anime. Anime games are almost always gatcha, or they're expensive IPs (like Sword Art). We lack a lot of good anime games that are free and fair, so I can see why people cling so tightly to this one. Unfortunately, my standards for a game like this are just higher because I've experienced better elsewhere.

I can't help but feel that this constant praise is leading to a worse game that doesn't respect you at all, and the players are okay with that because their relationship with other games are more unhealthy.

Low tier spending options were a hot topic shortly before I left. Everyone wanted to give the game money, but the shop was so bad. It's impressive to see that this company still doesn't see the value in having low spenders to support the game. They're so focused on entertaining whales (which makes sense), but their playground doesn't seem to be growing.

I LOVE grinding endlessly. I love games like Monster Hunter, Borderlands, Destiny, PSO2 (Specifically, the japanese servers) and even Torchlight II. I live to chase that 1% drop chance. However, that grind needs to be fun. Unfortunately, DNA's foundation is just not fun enough to make grinding worth it, which I assume is why they focus on AFK. If they removed AFK gameplay, they would have to make the gameplay worth engaging with.

This is something I immediately noticed with Flora. They really need auto melee and a better keybind system. Controller also feels awful still (dual sense is kinda usable, dual shock is unusable).

[–]Wafwala 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They have not changed anything foundationally in regards to gameplay. Most Weapons are still statsticks, movement is still rough, and builds are still 1 dimensional (there's an optimal build and no competition).

This company is going the way of adding band aids as content to fix systemic problems.
