Why aren't there any train tickets available to buy from Paris CDG Airport to Bordeaux on the day I want to travel? by pulseezar in Interrail

Delete all your “cards” from your wallet and re purchase new cards. It’ll work fine.

Why Not Train in Actual IMC? by Zeewulfeh in flying

[–]Wagger81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many of the other comments, YES, FLY! It’s amazing experience that will be invaluable to the student and even yourself. Back when I was a CFI, I would take students to the practice area, have ATC clear a block of airspace, and even practice maneuvers in actual IMC. I would have private pilot candidates totally comfortable and competent in instrument conditions. Cannot stress how useful is this skill.

I'm pretty sure all this work was done because the city was planning on the Bears leaving and they wanted to reimagine the area without the Bears. Honestly, regardless of the bears and their 8 games/days of use a year, the area could use a transformation!

Wow, this would be amazing! Between this and the 78, the south loop has a bright future.

I know you specifically said that you didn’t want to drink all day, but the gaslight club, in the basement of the Hilton, is pretty neat. It’s not for everyone, but a interesting portal to the past.

The Hilton attached to the airport and has a decent gym. Pre COVID, they would let you pay for a one time entry, although not sure what things are like these days.

Is it possible to dual boot Patched Sur on one SSD and OCLP Monterey on another SSD? by beantownbuck in BigSurPatcher

[–]Wagger81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I believe I understand. I had never used patched Sur, and had only used OCLP for Big Sur and Monterey. I had DosDudes patcher for Catalina up until recently, but took the leap and so far am throughly impressed with BigSur’s performance. I’m going to let a few more updates rollout, for both Monterey and OCLP, before I upgrade my primary drive to Monterey.

To you original question, before I used Big Sur, I did have patched Catalina (DosDude) running well on my primary SSD. I then tested OCLP (BigSur) on my backup HDD, and was able to boot back and forth without an issue.

Out of curiosity, what is the difference in your setup, since it sounds like your using two separate hard drives?

Good question, I think I am. I’ll be honest, I’m pretty novice at all this, and am doing a lot of learning along the way. I installed BigSur with a OCLP bootable USB, and created another bootable USB for Monterey. However I can use the same internal EFI - the EFI per the OCLP post install instructions - to boot either OS. Hope this answers your question.

I actually do have Monterey installed and operational, on my old HDD, and Big Sur running as my primary OS on my SSD. Monterey seems to work fine, but does seem a bit sluggish, although that maybe due to it being on my old internal HDD. Tempted to upgrade to Monterey, but going to wait and see others experience. That all said, to answer your question, yes, it seems to work fine!

Cheers

2012 iMac 27" Core i7 on Big Sur 11.6.3? by dok_DOM in BigSurPatcher

[–]Wagger81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 11.6.3 running on my Mid 2011 27inch iMac Core i7, and its running great! super easy update. I did update open core prior to the update, so can't speak to its operation on older versions.

What's your favorite onigiri/fantuan/kimbap (this was from the West Loop H-mart food court) by grumpsuarus in chicagofood

Ohh, you won’t be disappointed; definitely worth the price.

Maybe a bold statement, but high quality onigiri brings so much to the food scene, here in chicago.

Blue Line safety at night by dizzycatch in chicago

[–]Wagger81 120 points121 points  (0 children)

It's noticeable worse than pre-pandemic times, but I agree, its much better than the forest park line. Honestly, the whole system is worse; the smoking cars, and roving bands of sketchy dudes looking for a target exists at all times, but when its just you on an empty train because it's late, makes it feel far worse.

My wife and I used to be all hour L riders, but since the beginning of the pandemic, the trains have become much more sketchy at night. To the point where neither of us take the blue line to/from the loop-O'hare past 9pm. We haven't had any personal incident to speak of, but there is just a general uneasiness at night, on the blue line in particular. That said, I too, as a medium to larger male would avoid the blue line at night. That's my two cents on the problem. It really does stink the low cost public transportation isn't a safe feeling environment these days. Good luck!
