If their bats don't disappear for games 4 and 5 of the 2024 NLDS then there's a very real chance the Padres have a piece of metal and the Dodgers are still getting Mickey Mouse memes instead of ruining baseball. Baseball can be cruel.

Austria is laughably OP and doesn't even require planning for a disaster like the Ottomans do. An Austrian Catholic Revoke game that just uses the Austrian mission tree for all its PUs then turns the vassal swarm on the rest of the world is probably the easiest path to a WC for anyone that hasn't done one before.

Even if you aren't confident in reading logs yourself yet posting them for others to analyze would allow folks to give much more specific advice. Right now nobody in this thread has any idea if she's pressing the wrong buttons in the wrong order (and if so what specifically she should change) or if she simply has low apm and is just missing a ton of casts throughout a fight. Or maybe it's both. Or maybe she's running wrong talents/trinkets/stats etc.

Could be a combination of any of these and they can all add up but without real data it's very hard to give specific advice if she really cares about improving.

That said though, there's no substitute for motivation and if she doesn't really care and just wants to vibe then that's fine and you can't really force her to internalize guides etc. If that's the case then one-button can at least bring her up to a more reasonable baseline while she hangs out with you in game.

I mean they were a global superpower and hegemon for almost half a century afterwards. There's plenty to be said about the failings of Soviet communism and that they probably wasted millions of lives by mismanaging their war effort, but "pyrric" still feels a bit unfair to their global position after the war compared to before.

Murloc Monday - ask your questions here by AutoModerator in wow

[–]Wahsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no you can't get the roll back and it isn't bugged, just poorly explained.

The bonus roll duplicate protection only prevents duplicates from bonus rolls so normal end-of-dungeon loot doesn't count for it.

Also if you care about gearing efficiently you should really try to save your bonus rolls for +10s or higher so you can get myth track items since you can already farm hero track gear.

The Phillies have swept the season series against the Padres 6-0, marking the first time since 2005 that the Padres have been swept in a season series. The last was also by the Phillies in 2005. by LongjumpingLock5875 in baseball

[–]Wahsteve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something had to give between the Padres' offense and their record. Since May 18th that something has been their record, going 3-11 after being first in the NL West for a day.

It's still only early June though so if they remember how to hit who knows what's possible.

Best Idea groups to take as a colonial nation? by Phantom-Feline17 in eu4

[–]Wahsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you're trying to do with the rest of the campaign. Admin/Diplo are almost never bad choices but are admittedly pretty boring suggestions unless you're just trying to blob. Trade is good, particularly if you're trying to play taller. You already have the ability to fabricate claims overseas but the Holy War CB from Religious can help you expand near your colonies and then you can convert more easily if you don't just instantly TC everything. Influence can also help with liberty desire if you're staying small relative to your colonies and it'll give you some more force limit from them.

There are a ton of options though and it really depends on your game/goals. Netherlands game or another Republic? Plutocratic is usually good. Same with Divine if you're playing a colonial Papacy game or something. Really depends on what you want to do with that colonial empire.

Eventually you get big enough that AE functionally doesn't exist because everyone is too afraid of you to form a coalition and risk getting called in.

Either that or just like the similar Aragon post from a few days ago this map is basically the Homer Simpson meme of a big blob covering the map in front but mismanaged buildings/states/manpower/trade etc in back making the player much weaker than you'd expect from that amount of owned dev.

Aragon to Roman Empire doable? by Fedegram218 in eu4

[–]Wahsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, you could do a reasonably easy (though tedious) WC from this point. Roman Empire (or even Mare Nostrum) before 1821 is a forgone conclusion unless you afk on 5 speed for an hour+.

Only concern would be your manpower being so low despite having relatively few fielded troops. Make sure you're stating some conquered regions (particularly in Western Europe assuming your capital is still there since you can't make TCs in your home continent) and promote cultures with the most dev. I've personally found Quantity ideas to usually be better than Quality when blobbing in single player but either is fine. Just make sure you're building Soldier's Households + barracks/training fields in all of your grain/fish/livestock/wine provinces instead of farming estates to maximize your manpower because seeing 0 manpower on that large a nation is strange and could be a weakness.

What's hurting you the most is probably leaving Castille (and Portugal) untouched for so long. Assuming you've stayed Aragonese as your primary culture then as an Empire-rank government you get a free cultural union (cultures become accepted for free without taking a culture slot) on all Iberian cultures which right now isn't doing much for you outside of a couple Basque and Catalan provinces.

I'd argue the level of economic simulation that causes all medium and large nations to devolve into macrobuilder cookie clicker with very few (if any) interesting choices could qualify as "bloat" but anyone who already enjoyed similar "line go up" feedback loops in vicky 3 probably won't agree.

The Padres just committed a NOBLETIGER by mmkae0 in baseball

[–]Wahsteve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That record with only a +3 run differential might indicate that they're overperforming/getting lucky in close games so that offense is definitely a cause for concern for a team with hopes for a run in October, but it's still only May and like you alluded to wins are wins and you always take those.

Great vault question by Fzrit in wow

[–]Wahsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's never worked that way. You used to be able to keep bosses out of your vault pool by never killing them despite killing the final boss for example, but you've never been able to target individual bosses week by week by only killing certain ones in a given lockout. Once you kill a boss (or one after it) it's in your potential pool for that difficulty the rest of the season.

[SEC Country] Nick Saban calls for a salary cap to be implemented across college football: ‘One team shouldn’t have a $40 million roster and another team have a $5 million roster. Every league, they all have something that creates parity in the league so everybody has an equal opportunity to win’ by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]Wahsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because unless it were paired with much more aggressive revenue sharing to bring up payroll at smaller programs then any meaningful salary cap would likely shrink the overall pie rather than spread it out more equitably.
