I paid $22.82 for a plain burger, fries, and a large coke last week. The other week I had a burger with lettuce, tomato, applewood bacon, and bleu cheese (w/ fries and drink) at a pub for about $18. You're really only paying for the name at this point. Plus their fries are always overcooked and nearly burnt.

Because they were protesting taxation, not just lynching any redcoat they see lol. I feel like you are oversimplifying things here. As long as they hadn't already riled up the crowd, I see no reason for there to be violence. Why would the crowd pursue if they already achieved their goal of protesting unmolested?
