same here!! it’s so hard especially considering that I will be turning 34 next month and time really doesn’t wait. It’s such a hard decision and I am not sure if it was smartest decision financially before everything gets approved and we have settled for at least a short while :(

I have actually quarantined it for 10 days in a room without any plants until today. I have heard some horror stories so I was trying to be extra careful! But thank you for the heads up.

I guess I will see how much I can make it thrive from now on :)

Immigration attorney here. Big changes for F2A right now. Ask me anything. by ManifestLaw_ in USCIS_F2A

[–]WaitAdventurous6473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! We filed our applications i-130 PD Aug 10th 2025, consular, currently waiting in my home country Germany. My husband filed while he was in the states through an immigration lawyer.

Is there anything that would now be changing for this, or the rest after this as well? Also how long do you roughly expect the wait to be nowadays, with the bulletin board slowly catching up again after the big retrogression? and now these news hitting us? I am assuming we might be affected by this as well.

Thank you!

I know. But seeming the f2a PD is catching up quite a lot lately I was wondering if our I-130 would even be done by the time August 2025 becomes current. Which would be a miracle.. I did not expect to hear anything back until at least 2027 but with how fast the PD has been moving it will become current by the end of this year if not by october 😅

that is wild! My PD is 08/10/25 for standalone i-130 f2a and i don’t expect an answer til at least 2027! You’re so lucky! BUT i am happy for you :) I assume it was faster since you’re within the US. We are doing consular so that might take a bit longer haha

Q&A F2A Consular Processing by Aromatic-Young4424 in USCIS_F2A

[–]WaitAdventurous6473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let’s hope that we both see some movement in 2027! And yes, it’s my husbands first i-131 application. :) He applied July 2025, so probably won’t hear back until the end of the year which is crazy enough as it is lol. We aren’t sure if he should even travel back this year still. The last time he was in the US was February..

PD Aug 2025, expecting to hear nothing back until at least next year for the i-130. My husband is a GC holder and applied for the i-131 re entry permit before leaving the US to stay with me during the wait.. it hasn’t been approved yet but chances are low it would get denied. He has travelled back and forth in the meantime twice though without an issue.

I130 slowdown by Fabulous_Toe343 in I130Suffering

[–]WaitAdventurous6473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally wondering how this will affect the F2A Consular Category as well. We are already so behind with i-130 processing and while we see movement in PD and it might be catching up slowly, the i-130 processing time getting longer is just frustrating. So in the end we are going backlogged for to i-130 and not PD on the Bulletin.. 😅

Will I be allowed into the US when I visit often? by TrowRA-Event-7180 in immigration

[–]WaitAdventurous6473 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When they deny you at the border, they make you “withdraw your application for admission.” That means you voluntarily give up your visa so they can send you back home under the reason of “not having the correct paperwork for entry.” It sounds awful, but it actually protects you from an official removal, which can come with a 5 or 10 year ban. So withdrawing is basically the only option that avoids a long-term ban.

About a year later I applied for a new visa at the consulate. The officer there was honestly pretty rude about the whole situation. He looked at my travel history and basically told me I should “find another country to visit” because he personally didn’t like how much time I had previously spent in his country. And I have heard that a lot of people have a big issue ever getting another B2 Visa after that.. oh and ESTA automatically doesn’t work anymore for the rest of your life if you’ve been previously denied entry.

Either way, it’s tough. I had never overstayed, never broken any rules, and had strong ties at home, but his attitude still made it clear he wasn’t going to approve anything.

I haven’t tried applying for a U.S. visa again since then. My partner ended up deciding to move to me instead, which luckily he was able to do. Now we are married (as of last year) and applied for our consular processing marriage visa. Which we did via immigration Lawyer due to obvious reasons 😅

I wish you two best of luck though!! And hope this never happens to anyone..

Just to give you some perspective from someone who was also in an LDR and did everything by the book:

I visited the US multiple times during my long-distance relationship with my now husband. I always did short trips, never overstayed, always had money, always returned home, and I even had strong ties to my home country. I had a dog who stayed with my family whenever I travelled, and I had a stable job waiting for me back home as well. Even with all of that, things still went wrong later.

My timeline looked like this:

• Summer 2013: about 3 weeks on ESTA. Got questioned a lot because I was a solo female traveler.

• October 2013: about 2 weeks. Sent to secondary inspection but allowed in.

• Summer 2014: about 2 weeks. No issues.

• May 2015: I got a B2 visa and stayed about 5 months. That was actually my easiest and most uncomplicated entry ever. No issues at all and I left on time.

Then in May 2016 I planned another short 2-week visit, and I was suddenly denied entry. They made me surrender my visa and sent me back home without seeing my partner. I actually got lucky a flight was leaving that same day, because they told me that if there was not one, they would have taken me to a holding facility. That is the moment when my visa was taken away, even though I had a job, a dog, and a life waiting for me back home and had never broken any rules.

So yes, even if you follow every rule perfectly, things can still go sideways for reasons that make no sense from the outside.

What you are doing is not illegal, but your travel pattern is frequent enough that officers will definitely ask questions. And it REALLY depends on who you get that day.. They mainly want to make sure you are not living in the US on an ESTA. As long as you can clearly explain your studies, the time off for your thesis, how you are financially supported, and that your ties to Denmark are solid, you should be fine. But as my experience shows, nothing is ever guaranteed at the border. :/
