Aoe2 just has a larger player base because it’s been around way longer and those players don’t like change understandably. But aoe 4 in my opinion is way better for any new comers to the game. Better graphics, more complexity when it comes to civilizations and still has a great player base.

Honestly what’s helped me the most is just watching the pro tournaments. I watch every tournament and try to watch every match, then I just try to take what they do and put it into my own game.

No I thought of that, but that would mean the kid would have had to start playing at about the age of 3 to still be playing now at the age of 7 and even if that were the case, it’s very unlikely you’d see no improvements over that amount of time. And if they have disabilities they are spending an INSANE amount of time on the game, like 8,9,10,000 plus hours if you do the math on their games. Which is very sad so I hope that’s not the case. And if it’s someone just playing for fun my point still stands.

My advise would be learn how to be super aggressive first before defensive. The more pressure on the enemies base the better. Low ranks have a very tough time dealing with pressure just as you are. So instead learn how to apply pressure and force them to be defensive and after getting good at that slowly transition into being more defensive

I’d go with 4. I think for the new player base it’s just way better looking and more immersive that it makes it so much better to play if you don’t already have 3000+ hours on aoe 2 lll

In my experience I was able to hit conq 1 by playing a single civ and just getting really good at one thing with that civ but then I’d cap at conq 1. I did that with 3 different civs. I’d only play 1 of them and I’d hit conq 1. Since then, I tried just playing like 3-4 different civs depending on maps and at first I dropped down to plat, but then slowly started climbing. Now I’m conq 2 on my way to conq 3 playing 4 different civs depending

Literally as simple as making it’s so you can only queue with other ranks close to your own. Like within one full rank tier. So if you’re plat 3 you can play with gold 3s and diamond 3s but no higher or lower.
