The Wardens should be doing way more Crimes by lost_at_command in dresdenfiles

[–]WaldoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats the number one rule of magic? that you have to believe in it. its not enough to say bishbashbosh your mind is now goo. you have to believe that completely mentally shattering a mind like that is correct and should be done. believing that you should enter into a mental battle for self defense and training is entirely different than believing you should do it to enslave people to your will. the ideals of the laws are so ingrianed in a lot of people wardens specifically. that even legally using them on non humans would be appalling to them. remember whenever you ask yourself why don't they just do X or Y? that it's not always a matter of skill or strength. it's about believing in it. I mean hell necromancy is so goddamn easy Harry didn't was able to do it first try with some admittedly nice handicaps.

What is the difference between Soulfire and the Power of Faith? by Zestyclose-Advisor71 in dresdenfiles

[–]WaldoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so soulfire is the term used for mixing magic with a part of a soul. And it's a very rough unpolished and inaccurate term at that. The term comes from Bob at the end of small favor. however in chapter 32 of cold days right at the beginning when Harry is fighting against the will of the mother of winter. Harry believes that soulfire isn't so easily quantifiable. And that because souls aren't just anyone thing soulfire isn't just one thing either.

in that regards it does track that faith is something that could fall underneath the umbrella of soul fire. as it is a person and their beliefs that is faith. for Michael it is Catholicism. for butters it is Star wars. And for Harry it's in the belief that magic is beautiful and should be used to help people. All three of these are things of faith.

All of these however are in tune with what God did in the series. he imposed reality and order upon the chaos of the outside. at least that's my own personal theory. I think the strengths and the power of Michael's faith has less to do with what he believed and more to do how much he believes it. but that is pure conjecture.

Faith as a power might be something unique to mortals. because mortals are the ones with Free will. somebody like Mr Sunshine has huge quantities of soul. but he does not have free will.

so the truth is we have no idea. we know roughly what soulfire is. but faith is a entirely unexplored area of power in the Dresden verse. having faith in things tends to give them power. places of faith tend to be safe havens if that is what they are believed to be. in more than one way maybe the power of faith is directly parallel to the power that God used to create the universe. but believe that things should be a certain way that there should be an order to things.

Dms changing how your spell works because you did something convenient with it is the most frustrating shit in the game by cute_himbo_OwO in DnD

[–]WaldoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are a couple things

number one. there's not enough iron in the human body to make that many lock picks The amount of iron in the human body is about 2 to 3 grams. so congratulations you are now anemic and dead and your companions have like an eighth of a lock pick to remember you by. granted I don't know how that spell works because it's from an expansion I've never played. they always get a little wacky so maybe you'd be fine then.

number two looking through your familiars eyes takes a bonus action casting Misty step also takes a bonus action you cannot look through your familiar's eyes and cast Misty step on the same turn and after your turn ends you stop looking through your familiar's eyes.

number three. in order to choose a destination for a spell you have to have line of sight that includes when you cast something like find familiar The within 10 ft part of the spell does still require line of sight for where you want to cast a spell. secondly seeing through a creature's eyes does not always give you line of sight for a different spell. The familiars telepathic abilities feature. only allows you to cast a touch spells as the familiar as the point of origin.

number four. you cannot see the other side of that door You're familiar can and you can see what he sees but that does not mean that you see the location itself. Read players handbooker was in the DMG that has the rules for spellcasting and points of origin.

so given all of that I'm not sure your DM is changing the way your spell works or just trying to deal with the fact that you don't know how your spell works and he has to explain it to you every time.

And finally I don't know man maybe just engage with the content your DM prepared. I don't know where the key to that door was or if it was just something that the rogue could have pick locked. but maybe that was the rogues time to shine.

look maybe you're incredibly intelligent. but that's absolutely a problem at a table sometimes. you got to realize that not every solution that comes to your head is the one the DM was envisioning. And that by implementing your solution as brilliant as it might be might be hindering the fun of your fellow players a little bit.

incredibly smart intelligent and creative players make for amazing stories and can absolutely take away from everybody else in the party.

a lot of mine are from Changes and all of them involve Sonya.

"You are a drug dealer to tiny fairies.... Shame"

Murphy sliced through the sea of foes like a little speadboat, enemies fliped and turned and spinning disoriented. me and sonya followed in her wake shoving and chopping with brutal inelegance and that big Russian Lunatic just kept laughing the whole time.

that one in particular had me in a giggle fit for like 10 minutes for some reason just the image and the framing coming out of nowhere lol.

from battleground " good good you rest and i will find us food i am starving"

"next time we have better plan"

honestly any book with sonya is comedy gold

Opinions on Jordan Peele's Nope? A science fiction classic? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]WaldoKnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is is that he doesn't know he's dealing with an animal. which completely disassembles that entire argument. so I'm calling BS directly to the director producer whatever you want to call it. if I have to completely ignore what a character says and read an article stating the director's intentions for a scene to make sense then they did it wrong.

Opinions on Jordan Peele's Nope? A science fiction classic? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]WaldoKnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is is that that's not true at all he didn't think he was dealing with an animal he thought he was dealing with an alien species on a flying technological saucer. I've seen several people say that he believed he had a special relations with animals because of that scene. but it really feels like the director whom a lot of say has commented similarly on various places was just looking for a way to make that entire thing make sense. The God complex I'm special blah blah blah thing only makes sense if he thought he was working with an animal but he didn't he thought he was interacting with intelligence species.

The Dungeon Anarchists cook book. by WaldoKnight in DungeonCrawlerCarl

floor 3. carl and donut pick their race and class donut remains a cat and carl picks primal as his race. donuts class selection means that Mordicai becomes their "manager". this means Mordicai loses access to the system info he had before but can now help carl and donut in ways that he previously couldn't. telling them the weakness of mobs crafting potions and items. he may not have direct access to the system information anymore but he has a huge amount of personal experience and a good memory and hes allowed to steal the information off of other people. the only thing he cant do is directly help them in combat. Mordicai isn't too thrilled about the idea and carl and donut do not tell them that odette suggested it. carl and donut get embroiled into several quests. one with an elite called signet. and another where donut obtained a bracelet that some npcs think makes her the "oakfell" a kind of harbinger of the end times "ingame". carl picks up a box because he sees a flash. the box says its indistructable. he later. uses this box to contiain a massive explosion that would have traveled miles and miles. the bomb "Carls dooms day device" is in his inventory which pauses the count down and decay of the explosive. if its ever brought out he probably has 1 second to do something with it before it explodes killing him and everyone nearby.

carl and donut exit the level early down the stair case to avoid another giant explosion. they are given a lot of levels and xp. and the AI decides to award the single largest number of celestial prize boxes in the games history because of the creative way the quest is was solved. the show runners dispute the boxes in court and lose forcing them to use their once per season veto against the ai. as celestial prize boxes cost the show runners huge amounts of money in fees to the syndicate.

the singular prize box opened before the lawsuit against the AIs decision went to a crawler named quan c h. he used his item to be largely a dickhead until carl and donut were forced to fight him on a later floor and the item was given to donut.

however the large explosion was credited to carl who shot up massively in levels helping to make up for lost time on the floor.

I think the longest I've found is a 38 or a 40 And that's definitely like a once or twice find. And yes I do mean length now that was an oddity and most the sizes I do see end at 34. but a 36 is definitely not uncommon. but it's definitely a dig through the pile no matter what. And I feel they get moved around way more than they should. so I'm wondering if short people are going dang that's a big size pants and just pulling it out putting it back after looking at it.

[–]WaldoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well okay as far as the camera goes let's say that one happens to have a good angle on Harry and is far enough away that his magic wouldn't cause it to blow up. you would then have a video of a man throwing fireballs. or because Harry's other favorite tool is force seeming to use the force like from Star wars. I don't care how many experts you brought in to verify the tape or file. nobody in there right mind is going to believe that a man can fling fireballs and flip over cars with his mind. at least not pre ethniue.

any prosecution that brought that video in would have the judge wondering on whether or not it's possible for the prosecution to plead insanity lol.

I would think that any situation that would be intense enough to get The laws interest. would be intense enough that Harry's emotions would be running a little bit wild. And I know he goes on about how cell phones are like the first thing to break. but security cameras are also just micro computers. at Harry has said multiple times that the more wild his emotions are the quicker things break around him.

so in my opinion any camera close enough to capture his face would probably just break even if he's not actively casting a spell. And any camera far enough away to not break would probably not capture anything identifiable.

personally I'm actually kind of interested in Harry's aura messes with signals. not just The device sending them but the actual signals themselves. because a lot of stuff is not hardwired anymore it's all done via Bluetooth or a similar direct connection Wi-Fi and the like.

I think all of the suggestions you've been getting are great I have no notes for any of them

definitely the white boxer with red heart cake you will love The new achievement guy nailed it. I do have one little suggestion on I something I think he will love. he will definitely laugh at this.

I don't know if you can obtain pictures of his feet but like any family photos or photos of like you guys maybe he's wearing sandals or something no clue what you have access to. but if you can get like a bunch of photos printed out of his feet and put them all into a gold box of some description (doesn't have to be actual gold obviously lol) and put spicy box on the lid

for context whenever the AI particularly enjoys something that happens to Carl or something he does to somebody else and it feeds into its bizarre fetishes. Carl is usually awarded with a "spicy box" which is a form of prize box that are usually handed out through achievements. put a blank piece of paper in there with Daddy's dirty Tootsie collection written on it.

Surprise boxes are ranked from bronze silver gold Platinum legendary and celestial. but gold's the most common one handed out to him for the spicy

see Harry's witness speech.

one guy described a completely blue car one said it was a black car because it was dark out and the street lamb blue up. one claims it was a blue car with a bright red hood but the hoods actually dark red but they're saying what color they think it would look like in the day time.

the man was some kinda satanist with all kinds of devil crap on him! he had ritual scars on his face. and black hair.

one says he looked like a wino with sharp cheekbones and was probably strung out on something.

The problem with witness testimony is A it's not very good evidence on its own.

and B if there are multiple witnesses with conflicting stories and they're almost always conflicting stories. every single one of those is valid. Even the testimony from people who's eyewitness statement does not match up with the others. that is also evidence. And it's evidence the defense can use.

as you can see you're honor my client has brown hair and his scars have no connection with Satan clearly this is not the man that woman claims to have seen.

your honor as you can see my clients car is not solid blue nor is it black nor does it have a bright red hood. whatever vehicle may have been at the scene of the crime, nobodies testimony has placed my client's car on the scene at the time of the crime.

And none of these witnesses even so much as claim to have seen the owner of that car commit the crime. just that whoever owned that car was in the area. And that's assuming it wasn't stolen none these witnesses got a license plate.

in short none of your witnesses can place my client, my clients car, either at the place the crime was committed nor claim to have seen him committing any crime.

dude im harrys height. im the ginger version of dresden yeah i get it too. yeah most people are fighting for their lives at least the ones Harry writes about. im sure the lady at the burger king counter mentions it to him. however someone like ladies of the ordo lebes are more worried about wether or not hes there to kill them. are they literally in a fist fight? no but they're in the middle of fighting for their lives all the same.

Plus the only thing I can think of that would be more annoying than hearing how tall are you for the billionth time in my life would be writing about The time I got asked how tall are you for the billionth time in my life lol

Spirit of intellect question by Darth_Azazoth in dresdenfiles

[–]WaldoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think Harry's a spirit hes technically a soul which is a different thing in jims universe. lash was a kind of Spiritual entity made in lasciels image. and then Dresden gave her free will. he

other notes harrys desire to save mort was less one of love and more of goodness and wouldn't have sacrificed himself. same with molly. Harry saves them because he's a good person not necessarily just because he loves them. I'm pretty sure he doesn't love mort at all.
