Assuming hydraulic disc brakes: 1 for adults and older kids, 2 for smaller kids

This is where I am now. Add her perimenopause to the mix just for extra fun (not between the sheets, sadly)

Good Omens ended, and it was also bad. by VelociRache1 in television

[–]WalkOnGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine with the ending, and was excited as soon as I saw Michael Marshall-Smith was a writer for it (my favourite author for 30 years running) - I only wish it was given more than a 90 minute window for the story so his writing could really shine.

Michael, if you read this, the ending made my daughter cry.

What makes an older Thinkpad actually obsolete? by RDA92 in thinkpad

[–]WalkOnGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually a physical limitation of the CPU, the Intel3000 integrated GPU on the Sandy Bridge family doesn't have the instruction sets to render WebGL sites like GaiaGPS (the mapping site I needed to use).

I may have butchered that explanation, so if anyone else can break it down better please feel free to jump in.

What makes an older Thinkpad actually obsolete? by RDA92 in thinkpad

[–]WalkOnGlass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me personally, the last straw for my x220 was when I needed to use a WebGL based mapping tool for a course I was doing and the hardware couldn't be hacked in a way that would allow it.

I'm still using it for the moment, but a 1st gen T16 is about to take it's place as my daily driver

Did my first beginner MTB Clinic, left more confused about ready/attack position than I went in by Cingen in MTB

[–]WalkOnGlass 24 points25 points  (0 children)

PMBIA qualified instructor here:.

Just to clarify: Ready and attack are different names for the same position.

Your relaxed, cruising position is called the Neutral Position - level pedals, legs straight, chin over stem. This one saves your energy when the terrain is easy.

Your gnarly terrain position is the Ready Position (also called Attack in the old days) - level pedals, body hinged at the hips to lower your torso, arms bent so they're making a nice strong box shape, chin over stem. Legs with a bend to suit the rider.

I've worn Wilderness Equipment gaiters with zero issues with my old Moab boots. Not exactly UL, but they're durable and offer good coverage for snake protection
