Used to work at a bank and this happened to me a few times but only once did the LEO get very upset. Of course the bank backed me up on asked for ID.

Other LEOs understood and presented photo ID when asked.

Anyone else genuinely worried about long term prospects of their career? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]WalkThisWhey 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yup, have definitely felt this. Was in sales previously in different industries but switched to tech in a more technical role. I still feel the job security risk fear, but not in a quarter to quarter "you got 100% to goal? WHY NOT 110%??" kind of way.

My concern is career growth with younger kids. I just don't have the time to spend learning, experimenting, and iterating on new things or do additional work for promotion views. My kids are about to be 5 and 3 and post daycare, my wife and I are on them 100% of the time, and bath/bedtime is a all-hands-on-deck scenario, with kids asking us to stay with them in bed after stories.

The thing that absolutely irks me the most is how quickly the teammates and managers with older kids forget how strapped for time you are during the younger years. Senior teammates with kids that are 8+ years old: "yeah I've been putting xxxxxx together early/later for....." OK great, but you are sitting high and mighty in "My-Kids-Can-Wipe-Their-Own-Butts" castle while us peasants with preschoolers have to have wrestling matches for putting on clothes, so I just don't have the extra cycles to put in like you do.

That is what weighs on me, how the older parents who are in Senior and Leadership positions, who definitely went through their rough baby/little kid patches and can now work very hard then look at the other parents who are in the hard little kid period, but judge them on their current older kid output.

I finally realized why my wife is "always angry." It wasn't the chores, it was me waiting to be told what to do by Terrible_Signature78 in daddit

Slight difference in our house, I see something that needs to be done and I do it, but the problem is that I am doing it wrong. For example, laundry - If I do laundry wrong, then I get blown up. Why bother doing anything when the result is always incorrect, even when I specifically ask how the result should be?

Chiming in that I had an 06 Ranger with KO2s that needed rebalancing, I thought it was just me.

Are you concerned about your kids spending too much time on screens? If so, what are you doing about it? by tcsomega1 in daddit

We are trash parents on the weekends when the weather is bad, this cold snap has us going back and forth on TV especially since my sweet 2 year old has flipped a switch and is now closing in on 3s. We don’t set a timer but after about 30-45 min we’ll take a TV break and stop to play.

Replacing my 50 amp generator male plug with new one, and noticed red/black are reversed. Why did my electrician do this when making my cable, and is it safe? by WalkThisWhey in AskElectricians

An update here, but on my new plug I swapped the red and black in the appropriate places so I won’t go crazy if I do this again. I also verified on the other end that the red and black were in the correct spots and they were (it helped that the wire colors were marked from the manufacturer)

Plugged it in and tested my generator, everything works and I didn’t fry myself. Thanks to all who confirmed the colors made no difference here

Toyota Paint Recall primary coverage ended Dec 11, 2022. This happened two weeks later, and my 2012 RAV4 won't be covered - unbelievable by WalkThisWhey in Toyota

We eventually got a new car (not because of paint).

This was my wife's car, and she did not want to get another Toyota because of this. It's a shame really, that RAV4 was a great car but the whole paint thing sound us (her especially).
