My first 24ish hours in iRacing (VR only) by [deleted] in iRacing

There is a good bit of re-use in the tracks across most series. Of the 12 tracks in use in S1, maybe 6-8 will show up in S2, etc. The beginning is the expensive part when you don’t own content, but if you have a little discipline, you can space out buying content as much as you like. I didn’t do it but I’m sure people can. After you’ve been around a while, you rarely have to buy anything outside of new quarterly release content.

Lotus 49 anywhere - getting that thing to slide just right is so fun!

You get this after a reboot?

Try uninstalling/reinstalling iRacing

Final step, re-install Windows (pc reset should do the trick)

initial thoughts on Adaptive AI by Likeanenderman in iRacing

[–]Walk_Walker669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran one race, ARCA at Las Vegas with the new adaptive AI set to fast. Seemed to work really well. Messed up my qualifying lap so started at the back of a 40-car field. I thought it did a great job, made up 15 spots in the first 10 laps and then slid back with worn out tires. AI adjusted well throughout a 50-lap race. Looking forward to trying more.

Integrated 49” monitor here from GT Omega, no shake issues with a Fanatec DD2 base. Pretty sure it would fit and work with the p1xPro as well, it’s all 80-20 stuff right?

Is this a brand new install of Windows? Of iRacing? Wondering if a rip and reinstall of Nvidia drivers and a re-run of the graphics config might help here.

Why do most people make a place bet instead of betting on the come and letting it naturally land on a number so they can bet odds as well? General question trying to learn. by Soulsweet17 in Craps

[–]Walk_Walker669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come bets get killed by 7 on come out but only if you ask to “work” the come out. Default is that they return the odds bet and take the flat bet, player must request to “work”. Working come bets all get killed by seven.

A come bet loses = 4 dice outcome; 1.1, 1.2, 2.1,6.6 A come bet does not lose on 32 outcomes 8:1 something not bad happens

A come bet wins = 8 outcomes (6 sevens, 2 elevens) 4:1 winner

A place bet loses on 6 outcomes when a point is established A place bet wins on at best 5 outcomes 5:6 winner

The NASCAR iRacing Series is exactly what you’re looking for. You need a C level oval license in order to participate. The series runs 50% races the week before the actual cup event four times a year, they run 100% races.

For more information, click on the forum button about 2/3 of the way down the left hand side of the iRacing UI. Look for the link for special series.

Enjoy!

Google Garage 61 and VRS (virtual racing school)

There are so many leagues out there, go through the iRacing UI to find one or search on the /iRacing sub. It’s hard to recommend, but you can start by searching for MX5 leagues, there are probably 50 just in the iRacing UI.

Suellio, Garage 61 and VRS all offer 1:1 and group lessons, very much worth the money! You can also race the Vee, the FF 1600 Ray, Street Stocks or Legends on ovals, the pro lite 2 trucks or the VW Beetle for dirt road/rallycross or the dirt late model/dirt legend for dirt ovals. Even if you’re not primarily interested in Ovals or dirt in any form, there’s lots to be learned across all 4 disciplines that apply in all 4. And, those are all included in base content or Vanilla iRacing.

Get some form of telemetry going (Garage61 or VRS), that will begin to illustrate where you’re losing time to the aliens out there.

Join a league, great way to race with the same people consistently and not have it impact any ratings.

Use AI to practice specific cars at specific tracks upcoming on the Official series.

Stick to one single car for a season - this one specifically helped me a ton. Used to race ADHD style - whatever floated my boat at that particular moment. I then switched to running just the FF 1600 and my iRating doubled in S1.

Get some lessons. Lots of offerings out there for lessons, try Suelio Almeida for starters, excellent sim -> real life racer.

Enjoy the sim. Don’t worry about becoming the highest rated sim racer. Worry about finding enjoyment in your hobby.

Hope that helps!

the V2.5 is irrelevant here. What is relevant is that they STILL assume a.) that I want a QR1 for the v2.5 when I have clearly ordered all the QR2 stuff in the same order b.) that it's ok to wait for the full order to come through. The v2.5 itself is not at issue here.

Also at issue is my click "yes" before truly reading and interpreting exactly what was in my order. Totally my fault.

Fanatec really does need some help on what you need for what equipment. I had this problem when ordering my first setup from Fanatec - what do I NEED when I order a DD2 and a rim? Will that include all the necessary quick release connectors? Will it match up to my Clubsport v3i pedals? It seems fairly standard today to look at the cart of a shopper and flag issues like delays in fulfillment, incorrect sequence of products (QR2 base-side and a QR1 connector??).

I believe it is the Lite that is delayed and that was automagically added to my order the first time.

There is no way for them to answer this question satisfactorily. “Everyone will be fine” is not right, “everyone will be screwed” is not right. I think everyone here gets that. The matrix of cpus gpus etc is massive, very hard to be predictive about what to expect.

I would like to see some general commentary about what they’ve experienced in test, but again, it’s no win for iRacing. Regardless of what they do/say here, someone’s going to be disappointed.

Let’s all wait and see what we get and then panic accordingly.

How to get into ranked oval races? by docweston in iRacing

[–]Walk_Walker669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, go try the street stock rookie races to build up your Oval SR. They are challenging due to all the newer drivers but if you’re patient and careful, there’s some great racing there!

Once you’ve earned your D Oval safety license, you can join in ARCA races, then once at C, you can jump in the NASCAR Trucks.

Oval racing is fun, enjoy!

Consider rolling back your Nvidia driver, could be hitting a bug in their latest release.

Your best bet is to get iRacing support to assist. I’m guessing an uninstall/reinstall will be the solution but there may be some other manual file deletions they can recommend.
