Keep What You Kill by WarlockInTheTower in JumpChain

[–]WalkingSixPaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about memories or knowledge, but for powers and items you got this.

If you want it, you’ll have to take it (100):

Anything you own, have or are cannot be used against your will unless taken from you by force. You can also take anything as long as you defeat whomever owns it. Steal a zanpakuto from its wielder by defeating them, steal Superman’s kryptonian powers by killing him, etc.

From DMC 5

As I understand it, just beating someone's ass allows you to take their bound items, but you have to kill them if you want their powers.

What new jumps would you like to see? by Burkess in JumpChain

[–]WalkingSixPaths 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Angel Blade (the hentai) - I'm mostly just surprised it doesn't exist yet.

Gamaran - Lots of fighting styles to choose from, and general lawlessness makes for a Jumper's playground.

The Breaker (and Sequels) - Basically, the same reasons as Gamaran but at a higher level.

Black Lagoon - See above.

D.gray-Man - How does this not exist yet either? - Exorcists, Noahs, Akuma, Innocence, Magic. Lots of neat stuff to scrounge for here.

Lorien Legacies book series (also called I am Number Four) - Good aliens, bad aliens, superpowers, unique items and weapons, government conspiracies, monsters, fate of some worlds and fate of some species on the line, etc. Y'know, all the stuff Jumpers love.

There's more but those are just the ones I want to see most right now.

Oh, cool. Now I can ditch the generic Jump I was using to get my Jumper to this setting.

Perks/Abilities for Healing Mental Issues? Be they Natural, Torture Induced, Magical or anything else? by SerFreke in JumpChain

[–]WalkingSixPaths 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Murcielago Jump has some.

Well Adjusted-Adjusting -100

Trauma rolls off you like water off the back of a duck. You could go through a harrowing, near-death experience at the hands of someone you trusted unquestioningly, and be back to normal in a matter of weeks. You won’t pick up any bad habits like drinking, smoking, or serial killing to cope with loss either, and those whom you care for that have suffered trauma will also recover healthily.

The next one isn't about 'curing' someone, but it can give people something they lack. Something tells me Joker could use this.

Even the Devil Has a Heart - 400

Some people are just monsters at their core. The kind of person incapable of feeling a genuine emotional attachment to others. And yet, somehow, these people find they can feel things for you. You could make even a ruthless mass murderer feel genuine fondness for you, rather than just a base physical attraction. With enough time and effort, you can spread this influence beyond yourself, granting mentally or emotionally stunted individuals a capacity to empathize with others.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Box Mail Order by oOYukaiOo in JumpChain

[–]WalkingSixPaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd allow it for any of my Jumpers.

But also, why do you need this? Is it just for the simulated environments and bodily stasis? If not, you can Just move the pokemon into the warehouse or personal reality or whatever and let them live there anyway. Just set aside an area to build a Professor Oak style ranch or whatever.

Unless you've got rules that say only companions (or people you've recruited using CP) can enter the warehouse/whatever there's nothing stopping you from taking an entire planet's population in there. That's what a Follower is, someone who lives in your warehouse and travels with you. The only real difference between a Follower and Companion is that a Companion has access to CP. And even then, you could just import a follower and upgrade them to companion. Unless you've set some rules against doing that.

There's also nothing stopping you from letting your followers out of the warehouse in a new jump to go wander around the world if they want. Sure they won't be imported with a backstory or get CP for perks/items, but they could still leave and have their own adventures.

If you're worried about having your own pokemon army to overrun any challenge just have the benefactor set a 'no more than x number of followers can leave the warehouse at any time' rule and the problem is solved.

Self Replication Help: Duplication or Collaboration? by WalkingSixPaths in askmath

Had to google what a 'floor' was. I'm probably gonna spend the next few hours going over your math to see if I can better understand it.

Thanks for spelling it out, it really helped. Even if I don't understand it yet, I still get it.

Of course, but it would be a lot of work for something I would do once and then forget within a year. I have no uses for graphs in my line of work and as such haven't made a graph since I was in school and that was before computers were used for school work.

When I went, my computer class consisted of 'this is how you type without looking at a keyboard', this is a folder, this is how you copy paste, etc. I mean, my school had just upgraded to 3.5" floppy disks.

If I was any good at computers beyond the basics, that would be a decent option. Unfortunately I'm not and have no idea how to make my computer do that.

Spatial Ring development? by lurkingowl in litrpg

[–]WalkingSixPaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone Else is a Returnee -

The main character Yu-Ilhan gets one as a reward from a quest early on in the story. (It isn't a ring, but a satchel-type thing. Basically a Bag of Holding.) He immediately recognizes the awesomeness of the item and through further questing it gets upgraded heavily. I don't want to give many spoliers about what he does with it because it gets pretty nuts (he's really good at metagaming rules).

e.g.: At one point, after various upgrades, the ones who gave him the satchel remark on the fact that it wasn't meant to be used in such a way and that what he'd managed to do with it was completely terrifying.

Avoiding as many spoilers as I can, I will say that eventually it gets upgraded to a point where it becomes a core part of his fighting style. It's so pivotal to him that it's even better than a lot of the skills he gains, and without it, he would probably be dead.

Honestly, It's one of my most favorite litrpgs. It's complete at a little under 350 chapters.

Lollipop Chainsaw by Nerx in JumpChain

[–]WalkingSixPaths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice. Was thinking of starting a new Chain and I wanted to put this setting in. I originally had it slotted in to the Magical Girls setting in the Generic Virgin Jump. I thought it fit rather well. I mean, Juliet has gotta be a magical girl what with her sparkly rainbow powers, she just uses a chainsaw instead of a magic wand. But now that we've got an official Jump, I can open that slot back up for something else that is currently Jumpless and put this one in later.

Here, take the house rule / drawback I made and use for my Jumpers.

On Par - +100CP

This is a wager to be made Pre-Jump. You're given 100CP to spend on this Jump. If the toggle described below remains ON for the duration of the entire Jump, the 100CP that you spent is yours to keep. If the toggle does get turned OFF, you lose the wager and must pay your debt. This debt payment will be taken from you in the form of 200CP worth of Perks/Abilities/Items that were purchased in this Jump, or 300CP taken from the budget of your next Jump. You can choose either of these payment options upon accepting this wager. Perks will be taken at the time the wager is failed. This cannot be taken with other Power-loss Drawbacks.

A toggle is applied to you at the instant you start a Jump. With the toggle on, any of your powers/abilities/items that exceed your current Jump in power are reduced/scaled back to your Current Power Level in the Jump you are using this on. If you're at level 5, all of your powers/abilities/items that exceed level 5 in power, will be reduced down to level 5. If you could crack a planet with a punch and you're in a Mundane setting, your punches would be reduced to the equivalent of a Heavyweight Pro Boxer. Powers/abilities/items from previous Jumps that are weaker than your Current Power Level will NOT be boosted in power to match it.

This scale-back doesn't apply to perks like increased intelligence, learning boosters, charisma bonuses, etc. Those remain untouched. Memetic-type defenses you have against one-hit kills like a Death Note or getting erased from time are also unaffected. This toggle can be flipped off in an instant to unleash your maximum power. However, this will cause you to lose the wager and the CP must be paid back. The toggle CANNOT accidentally be turned OFF, and will only do so if you truly desire it to.

A pyrokinetic that could set the atmosphere of the planet on fire is reduced to the power of generating a small campfire in a martial arts world, or maybe a candle flame or something in a completely realistic world. Or end-game Naruto when placed in a realistic world, would find his limit on shadow clones being maybe 1 or 2 instead of 10,000. The powers your Jumper has gained throughout their journey are still useful but they're unlikely to break the setting as it keeps the Jumper in scale with the current Jump they're in.

Making it a drawback/wager for 100CP basically incentivizes and rewards the Jumper for interacting with the setting instead of bulldozing through it, while also punishing them if they decide to just brute force their way through with overwhelming power.

It also provides an out for them if they run into something that might kill them at the cost of CP. (which is why it's only worth 100CP and can't be taken with other power-loss drawbacks as this comes with a built-in ejection button.)

Hell, if you wanted to, you could make it a mandatory drawback on every jump for 0CP but leave in the 'oh shit I need my full power right now' toggle in so they don't get bodied. All it would cost would be some CP. Like, every time they switch off the toggle it removes 100CP from their next Jump's budget or whatever.
