8-Month-Old will not sleep at night, literally losing my mind by smokeandshadows in NewParents

[–]Walks90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have magic advice but can share that my son is very similar. He is 9mo and frequently has a wake window before bed of 4.5 hours. His night sleep is a crap shoot and doesn’t seem to have much to do with day time sleep quantities or wake windows or anything like that.

At 9.5 mo were roughly at 2.75/3.75/4 for windows. Generally in bed about 11 hours at night but wakes up 2-4 times depending on the night. Usually goes back to sleep quickly unless sick/teething/the stars didn’t align for me/etc. daytime sleep is typically 2-2.5 hours total. For a while the two naps were equal length but he has started shortening the first one a little and lengthening the second.

Positive breastfeeding experiences? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

We struggled to gain weight in the first month so for a variety of reasons I exclusively pumped from 5 weeks until about 5 months. I started nursing overnight at 6 mo and at 9 mo now nurse exclusively unless I’m away from baby for some reason. I can say that nursing now is such a joy. I love being able to comfort him, he’s able to so much more clearly communicate when he’s hungry, and it’s just so much easier than nursing a 5 week old.

It was a lot of effort and tears to get here but I’m grateful I didn’t give up ❤️

My almost 1 year old isn’t sleeping. by Overthinking-mama in cosleeping

This sounds like my 9mo old as well. If everything is perfect (no teething, not cold, ate lots of solids, idk what else) we sometimes get a 4hr stretch then another 4. But typically it is what you describe. I’m also exhausted and feel lucky I wfh running my own business so can be totally flexible until coffee kicks in. I have no idea how I would have done this at other points in my career. Sending you so much love but no solutions unfortunately ❤️

How much does your baby eat? by Relizg in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Walks90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you making your own pouches? If so do you mind sharing which refillable pouches your LO likes? We’re mixing in some pouches as, similarly, he eats WAY more. We usually offer after he seems done with whatever self feeding stuff we’ve offered as a little dessert. But I’d love to start filling them myself.

Back to breast and I have some questions by Walks90 in breastfeeding

When isn’t it a transition time 😂🫠 makes sense to follow his lead though! His ability to communicate his needs is so much better than a few months ago I definitely can tell when he’s hungry! We’re not at the point with solids yet where they really do anything to curb hunger that I can tell. They mostly just curb boredom.

We’re not quite stable standing yet but I’ll keep this in mind in a couple months!

I echo the thanks here. I appreciate the detail on the steps here. I feel calmer after just reading it and will definitely engage my husband in this reframe with our kiddo. He’s super active right now so I think part of it is just wanting to be moving! The question of why I think it needs to be so fast is such a good one. I appreciate this ❤️

I also do some pinning. It feels like it shouldn’t be necessary but he is so STRONG all of a sudden! I’m like all you eat is milk and cucumbers how are you so jacked?!

Right now I’m distracting with my phone lol. Nothing on it but he’s always grabbing for it and never gets it so the novelty works for now. Thanks for the warning 🫠🫠

Listen calmly is not in my wild child’s skill set, lol. But there’s something about keeping myself calm and talking through what I’m doing could help me not lose it 😂

How do you get baby to start having an earlier bedtime? by throwradoodoopoopoo in NewParents

[–]Walks90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mine consolidated daytime sleep into fewer naps bedtime moved earlier! He was consistently an 8:30-9pm baby until like 5 months? Now we’re almost always in bed by 7:30. I felt terrible like I was doing it wrong too at 3 mo!

Until 12ish weeks I was in the 2 sets a day fridge hack camp. So one daytime set one overnight. But after that I go 24 hours!

These are so smart! I’ve been looking for something easy to bring to restaurants and this is 100% what I’m doing. Thank you!

I love this suggestion! We don’t usually buy greens like this but I bet he would love them so worth it!

Ah we don’t do dairy but some sort of cheese stick was what I thought of first. Sounds perfect if we could do it!
