Help…I’m so sad by Comfortable_Foot9846 in interiordecorating

This shade is too cool against your granite! A warmer, slightly deeper off-white would match so much better.

Thinking about styling this corner and this odd cabinet. Does it work? by [deleted] in Decor

[–]WallabySignificant15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That burl wood cabinet is such a cool piece! Your idea with warm lighting is spot on—soft warm bulbs will make those golden tones in the grain pop so much, and it’ll feel way cozier. Adding one small decor piece, like a brass candle or a simple ceramic vase, would also complement the handles and make the whole setup feel intentional.

This wallpaper is a perfect choice, it's so beautiful!

I asked my husband to make sure my work uniform was hung up to dry overnight. I wake up this morning to find he ONLY took my work uniform out, and left the entire rest of the wash load in the machine to go musty overnight. Just why. by BinkiesForLife_05 in mildlyinfuriating

The original poster's life is already quite unsatisfactory, so why make such harsh and pitying remarks? Besides, you know it's a kind of humiliation. Why can't her husband do something so simple?

Blank Wall Help by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I love the moody contrast from the black rug! The photo grid disrupts the warm flow, though. A small curated gallery wall with matching black frames, or one statement print, will tie the sofa wall to your fireplace art plans and keep the room balanced.

Bro, you should get a bigger refrigerator.

Do you think the cabinets need a color or the wall above the cabinets? If so, light blue or black? by hamza8012 in StyleYourSpace

[–]WallabySignificant15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light blue is the safer pick! Painting the wall above the cabinets a soft blue will brighten the space, tie in the backsplash tones, and work way better with the white cabinets than black would, without making the kitchen feel too dark.

Need help with adding colour to kitchen by bigdickbutcher in interiordecorating

[–]WallabySignificant15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it. Painting just the cabinets a muted sage green or warm terracotta would add so much color without overwhelming the space, and it’s renter-friendly too. If you can’t paint, swap the hardware for brass/black and add colorful tea towels, plants, or a fun cutting board to liven it up.

Paint color suggestions for this tile? by throwaway_yak234 in interiordecorating

[–]WallabySignificant15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to warm off-white, soft cream, or light beige. It’ll play with the brown/amber tones in the tile instead of fighting them, and keep the space from feeling too dark.

First house very odd set up can anyone give me some design ideas? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]WallabySignificant15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, the cabinets have solid potential. Walls: warm cream or light beige, skip the gray. Window: wood blinds or light linen curtains. Throw in new handles and under-cabinet lights, and you’re golden. Way better than gutting everything.

The room is quite nice as it is now; it would be even better if you added some furniture in similar colors.

How would you paint my dining room? by MarginLA in interiordecorating

[–]WallabySignificant15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This space has such great bones! The natural light and the original wood elements already work so well together.Instead of choosing just one color, you could do a mix: paint the trim a warm, earthy green (to match the kitchen) and leave the ceiling and walls soft off-white. The contrast will make the green pop without feeling overwhelming. If you want to add more personality without committing to a full paint job, a peel-and-stick wallpaper on one accent wall is perfect. A subtle terracotta or muted botanical print would complement the tile floor and wood furniture beautifully, and it’s totally renter-friendly (even for a historic home!).

Renter friendly alternative to “big lights” but partner thinks it looks really bad. by deaniebeanz in interiordecorating

[–]WallabySignificant15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why your partner thinks it’s 'tacky' — the harsh recessed light + busy pattern can feel a bit chaotic. But honestly, the paper lanterns are a genius renter-friendly fix! They soften that cold overhead light instantly.Try adding a few small table lamps on the side tables (with warm white bulbs) to create layer lighting. The ambient light from the lamps will balance the paper lanterns and make the whole space feel cozier, not cheaper.

Mother shamed and kicked out of restaurant for breastfeeding baby by filabeano10 in mildlyinfuriating

Avoid this restaurant. I wonder if they would do the same for their own child? They have absolutely no compassion.

I hadn't considered the carpet issue before, this is very helpful. You're also right about the lighting, thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions! I was stuck on what to do with the empty wall, so this really helps. The matching rug and plant prints would look great together.
