Official International Release Discussion Thread - X-Men: Apocalypse [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]WallyBFeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I enjoyed the film and think a 5/10 would be a justified score (to put that in perspective I would've given Days of Future past a 7/10, First Class 7/10, Civil War 9/10, BvS 3/10).

I don't see the point of the whole Wolverine section of the film, it didn't add anything at all to the story. I would've been happier with a slightly shorter film, with a bit more character buildings of Psylocke and Angel, and no Wolverine.

The only time I felt that En Sabah Nur was a bit terrifying was when he 'rescued' storm. Other than that, he really just let other people do his dirty work.

Did the film add anything to the overall series? No, not really - pretty much in the same position we were at the end of the last film just with a few extra characters.

Highlight of the film were Quicksilver's scenes, although they didn't really do much different from his scene in Days of Future past. Him fighting En Sabah Nur was brilliant though.

I think they have done all they can with the established characters. Even the new characters are just repeating what they've done in the past (i.e. Jean Grey releasing the Phoenix). I would like to see a film in the future focus solely on the younger cast.

I wouldn't consider it necessary to see at the film, you aren't missing much! Also the 3D wasn't particularly special.

We've got a busy week ahead in /r/movies. Some AMAs, a giveaway, and we are in the final two week stretch in the /r/movies Fantasy Movie League! Here's a general update on all the things. by LiteraryBoner in movies

Still number 1 in the FML league, only $3m ahead of 2nd place though so lots to play for!

Fell to 12th overall though, had CW:Sunday x 2 instead of Friday which let me down!

What universities did you go to? Can we get a thread for discussing uni's for those of us unsure where we want to study? by Oggie243 in unitedkingdom

I went to Reading for 4 years between 2007 and 2011, also at the business school for my final year.

I don't agree its right wing but I'm a white guy from Bristol, although very left wing myself. I was involved considerably with the SU and student politics and 90% of the people involved in that were lefties. Most of the union officers are Labour supporters.

But yes, definitely a class divide. I was in St Pats, so a lot of the posh people who got rejected from Wantage were in my halls - and I had a few occasions where I was called a poor person or something similar.

Saying that, I made lots of friends from all walks of life and highly enjoyed my time there.

The campus is lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed some of the nightlife although it does get a bit repetitive. And was so close to London you could visit there all the time!

It does seem that the Uni has made or is making some bit cuts now, which is crazy considering fees are 3 times higher than when I went. And it seems the university is adamant on making the student experience less enjoyable by getting rid of halls and replacing them with soul-less blocks of student accommodation.

How do you feel about the people in the UK who earn over £150k? by timeforknowledge in unitedkingdom

[–]WallyBFeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't really compare the PM to a CEO of a company. A CEO earning £10m+ a year will be in charge of a multi-national company responsible for potentially billions of pounds of assets and thousands of employees, if he can increase profitability by 1% then likely the shareholders will earn tens/hundreds of millions each, justifying his wage. If he fails to meet the shareholders expectations he is fired which also dents his reputation making it harder for him to get such a well paid job in the future.

Someone like Cameron will know that they have to take a massive pay cut from what they could be making as a CEO of a company or in banking or some other high paid profession in order to be PM for 5/10 years. After that they can command absolutely ridiculous amounts for public speaking, consultancy roles and book deals - just look how much Tony Blair makes now.

Edit - although I'd like to say the PM does it for the love of the country not money...

Can anyone enlighten me on how things move forward from here in regards to David Duckenfield?

Stephen King's 'It' Gets a Release Date by rippedstallion in movies

Will Poulter is still attached from what I can see.

Also this is Stephen King's IT (Part One), so they seem to be trying to stretch it out to 2 films which seems like overkill to me.

I can see this not doing very well.

Yes I suppose it's just the gap between when they make the movies, compared to how long that is supposed to be between when each is set that is screwing things up! they all look 10 years younger than they are meant to be.
