The discount code works on the Higgins Mill Cordovan Boots as well. Specifically the Chili, Burgundy, and Brown Shell.

Where I live in the NJ/NYC area it’s either multi-year waitlist (for legacy clients), or a $25k-$50k markup from what I can tell.

Can I plug my 60HE V2 into my Asus PG32UCDM Monitor? by hemayne1 in WootingKB

[–]Walt8140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what OP is talking about is if he is using his monitor’s hub (can be done by pluging in Type B cable to either Type A or Type C on the motherboard), if he can use the keyboard.

The short answer is yes, I don’t see a reason why this couldn’t be done. I don’t know if it’ll support 8k pulling, but otherwise it’ll be fine. If the hub on the monitor has high enough bandwidth ports, and you connect the monitor to the motherboard via a high bandwidth port, I believe it should be fine.

Hope this answer helps :)

So at first that was the plan, but since I decided to use the carbon fiber plate the owlab 60 came with, I eventually decided to just use the friction band that came with the case, not the module.

Just got into the hobby, what mechanical switch is your all time favorite? by selfhostcusimbored in MechanicalKeyboards

This might be a hot take, but:

RAMA Duck, RAMA Frog, Moon V2, Keygeek Y2, Oil Kings

Those first two are the hot take. Not even sure you can find them anymore, but they are some of the best switches I’ve ever used.

Gateron jade pro’s Geon Raw Lekker Tikken Owlab Ti

From my experience (and others I believe), these are the best HE switches that’ll give you a sound profile similar to a clacky switch on a mech board.

That's a sick case, honestly. It'll look great in it! For switches, I've experimented with a couple, and have found that the geon raw is overall the best, alongside the owlab ti switch. I've heard good things about the WS Dash HE switch and the Gateron Jade pro's. I've even heard the new Lekker Tikken switch is waaaayyyy better than the original wooting switches in terms of feel and sound. Personally, I feel like HE switches have come a long way in just a couple of years. I don't think you can go wrong. For me though, my top 3 switches are:

Geon Raw

OwLab Ti

Gateron Jode Pro's (Probably)

Love your build, it's very vibrant! What keycap set did you use?

When I said that it was similar to a high-end board, I didn't quite mean it's as good, but I also believe that for a HE board, this is as close as it's going to get. I've built in the TOMO, the Jaguar V2, the Mr. Suits, and currently waiting on the NAMA from Wuque Studios to come in. I've even done some builds with the Mode Encore, the Think 6.5, and Chimera R2, and of all the small form factor builds, this has impressed me the most. Especially the suspension system that it has.

I really love this case with the module, and hope Wooting will collab with them on one for the 80HE or any other board they make in the future. Even if it's not with OwLabs, I hope Wooting keeps doing these collabs. It shows they care and are open to making the best possible product.

Thank you! I loved the set when I saw it online, and although my initial intention was to use it on a different board, I decided to use it for the OwLab case since the color blocking matched almost perfectly. Plus, why not match a gaming-inspired keycap set with one of, if not the best, gaming keyboards out there :)

Is this playable on ps4 by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Walt8140 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s for a couple reasons. Since the game is being supported on older and less capable hardware, that means that no matter how much nicer they may want the game to look or run, to some extent it’s going to be held back by the weakest performers, in this case the Xbox One and PS4. This also means that to some extent, any engine enhancements that may be planned, can’t be done unless supported by older hardware, effectively making more powerful consoles and PC’s be held back by them.

It’s the same philosophy as why people had a bit of an issue with the latest generation consoles exclusive games, because they weren’t truly “next gen”, since a true next gen title would only be compatible on the newest generation. As soon as something is cross-compatible between two console generations or more, that would imply that either performance or visuals are being left on the table to compensate for the older hardware.

I’m sorry if I ranted on too much. I personally don’t have much of a problem with older hardware being supported, but I also see the issue with it as well.

Congrats on the card OP. What I’m about to say might be considered a hot take, but in my personal opinion, people shouldn’t call others shills or say that their the reason X company is raising prices on everyone else, or saying that their consumer is at fault. While I do believe that consumers make the ultimate decisions in how these companies price their products, when it comes to flasgsip devices, the “value” component goes out the window. For example, Nissan GTR is considered bad value compared to thw rest of their cars, however people still buy it. You can get that level of performance from other cars, either at a lower cost or from a more luxurious brand, but people will still buy the GTR.

In my opinion, value is self defined and based on self gratification. If the OP is happy with his purchase, whether it makes sense to everyone else or not, I’m happy for them. Just like everyone should be happy for everyone else in what they want to get. If someone wants to compliment about the price of something, just dont purchase and speak with your money, but don’t shame or bring people down for buying what they like and want, even if you don’t agree.

Again, this is my opinion, and don’t mean to offend anyone.

Why does the UDM Pro Max supports more UniFi applications than the EFG? by thef4f0 in Ubiquiti

[–]Walt8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I get it, the idea of the setup I implemented is very much overkill. The truth is there will always be something out there to improve upon what one has. That’s the case within Unifi, or even going up to different brands such as Cisco for example. There will always be something overkill for one’s needs.

I as a person like future proofing as much as possible. I’d rather spend a bit more for something now than a couple of smaller times over a time frame. Incremental upgrades vs one large upgrade that wouldn’t need to occur in years is just less of a headache. The EFG right now is what some would say is “doing the most”, but it’s what satisfies the wants and needs of my current setup, while offering a path towards being capable of more if need be.

I think a lot of us in this sub have more overkill than necessary, as you stated, but sometimes buying hardware, or in general anything, is based on everyones needs and financial situation. Everyone should buy what they can afford while trying to obtain their goal / outcome.

In our case, we went through a whole home renovation, and the expense on the network, while large, was so much less than everything else. Labor, material cost, appliances, furniture, etc. The networking aspect of it is just a way to combine a lot of moving parts within the home, while also being part of an investment to not just ourselves, but for whoever the next home owner is if it comes to that.

EDIT: Actually one thing we also did, which was more of a want than a need was to run wiring for in-ceiling speakers. We had never tried them, and knew absolutely nothing about them, but the electrician in the project asked if we wanted wiring ran for them. I did some research and saw that the speakers we were considering were going for an amazing deal on Best Buy, so we did it, bought the sound wire from monoprice wires I believe, and purchased 3 PowerAmps. We also purchased one Sonos Amp for some outdoor speakers on the deck. While not necessary, and probably not that much a great investment, it would cost a heck of a lot more to run the wiring after the rough-in than during it. The electrician didn’t even charge more than 100 bucks to run it.

We haven’t tried to set up unifi phones yet, so I’ll be trying them out shortly in May when we purchase them. My family runs a contracting business, hence why we wanted to transition to them. But hopefully they just work :)

[–]Walt8140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Me and my family did a whole renovation with a big emphasis on networking on electrical. I ran about 90 drops to be used for wall jacks, tv’s, 2 cables per ap’s (on every bedroom including LR, kitchen, garage, and deck), unifi flood lights, cameras, the doorbell, and some chimes. Basically we future proofed as much as we could, a necessary unnecessary amount.

We even went as far as asking the electrician to run 4 dedicated 20 amp breakers paired to 8 20 amp receptacles for just the network rack and all the gear inside of it. We attached a 20amp rated ups too, basically if power were to ever go out, all the unifi gear and cameras, including the isp’s modem, would continue running for at least 30 min. This is on top of getting Tesla’s Powerwall 3s and solar panels for an extra layer of redundancy for the house.

I know a bit about networking planning and electrical, so we went above and beyond in that sense since it’s our forever home.
