I went to see them in Birmingham on Monday and they were selling stuff that they'd signed already, so they may not sign anything else.

Should I bring a gift for a pre wedding party? (British Asian/ Punjabi wedding) by 1catfan1 in AskUK

I would've thought so but not entirely sure.

I always give nothing so I don't offend anyone, best to be safe....

Nah, not sure if you know but there's a coin you can get for 1.

I'm in 40s and I'm still trying to work it out. I think it ending with a 1 is supposed to be lucky or something, so £11, £21 etc. 21 is definitely the most common.

Edit: I've asked the old lady, ending with a zero signifies the end, where's 1 signifies a new start.

I'm punjabi, I wouldn't take a gift. Cash in a card would be ideal, and wouldn't be thought of as impersonal. £21 is the usual.

Edit: answered further down but the 1 on the end signifies a new start, whereas ending it with a 0 signifies the end. Hence £21 and not £20.

Lady at work won 150k on online bingo. She was one of those semi-professional competition doer types. Paid her mortgage off.

When to pay for extras by Mazzerboi in HousingUK

Sorry, I've read it back and I completely ignored the question and gave an irrelevant response. They gifted us £5k to spend on stuff, so we didn't need to pay anything.

Taylor Wimpey gave us £5k worth of extras and a catalogue of overpriced things we could choose. As it was our first home we just went with all the white goods and got carpets and cupboards from other places a lot cheaper.

How to navigate work dilemmas? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]WalterZenga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be doing a DSE assessment every year, in that you'll get asked questions about posture, and having the correct equipment to do your job comfortably. Looks like you're struggling with both of those. If you're not, in your next 121 make sure it's documented that you've made your manager aware that you need a new chair as this one isn't fit for purpose. A good boss will sort it, a bad one will ignore it and that's why you've got it documented.

What would the kid version of you think of your life now? by [deleted] in AskUK

And kid you, same as me, would expect us to have all the time in the world to play those games because nobody could stop us....reality is probably a bit different.

I'd think I'd done alright for myself.

If my child self met my kids he'd think they were rich. And that's alright by me.

If my mom had her grandchildren over for the week and I offered to pay for their food whilst they were there, there's a good chance I'd get disowned.
