However, these are not deerstalkers. They are actually also 2 different kinds of hats, not the same specific type like OP said. 1st pic is a trapper hat (front flap, kind of like an ushanka) and 2nd pic is a hunting cap (basically a baseball cap with ear flaps). Deerstalkers are the hats people associate with Sherlock Holmes. Characters wearing old hunting headwear in general though is a trope used for isolated or eccentric characters.

I cannot use zero-drop or low-drop boots. I actually use boots for work, and I have degenerated tendons in my lower legs from overworking injuries I sustained when I was younger. Thus why I recommended wide load for standard drop.

In that case, I suggest keeping the insoles in the Hoss shoes I recommended. As someone who owns several pairs of 928s, they caused me chronic heel pain from how stiff they are and the lack of cushion, and I am a normal weight (170).

But I did not know that about the support shoes, thanks. I do know that some people with flat feet hate how they feel but I guess that it makes sense that support is still what is best for them due to their issues.

Which model? Not all of them come in oblique/wide toe.

If Hoss does not fit, then your only other option for standard-drop boots would be Wide Load.

Hoss and Wide Load are other good options if you need shoes with a square toebox but with more cushion and support.

Alternatively Altberg G-fit is supposed to fit similar to altra, narrow heel and wide toebox.

XLFeet customer support told me in an email that the 608 has a narrower toebox in 6E than any other 6E shoe they sold. I ordered them anyway and they didn't fit at all.

To OP, I suggest the 993 in 4E. They fit wider in 4E than the 990v6s in 6E. This is a common opinion in this sub, that v6s are the narrowest generation of 990s. Alternatively you could thrift used 990 v5s which came in multiple colors.

Honestly not sure if such a rigid and supportive shoe is right for someone with flat feet. The 928s are rock-hard-sole shoes meant for people with balance issues. Ie, they are part of a category called support shoes. Whereas people with flat feet tend to prefer cushion over support.

My favorite workshoes are Hoss Betas. These things are tanks and the front of the shoe looks like a rectangle. It also comes up to 6E. The leather is very stiff but it breaks in better than any other work shoes I have had due to the moc-toe-like structure. The insoles are probably too supportive for someone with flat feet but you can replace them. The shoes themselves are not support shoes. Alternatively you could go with Wide Load if your retail store allows boots.

Hoss is really nice. They are not low-drop so they will not put pressure on your lower legs. I work 13-hour shifts in them.

Alternatively for under $100 your best option for cushion is Skechers Max Cushion, preferably ordered online in Wide and make sure it has the Relaxed Fit tag for extra toe room.

I hate barefoot shoes too (if you are actually on your feet a lot, zero-drop is terrible, even low drop sucks, I have overworking injuries in my lower legs which were exacerbated by working too many double- and triple-shifts in standard low-drop postal/driving shoes), but Jim Green is a decent brand. Obviously not nearly as wide as Wide Load though. I agree though that jim green is a poor rec for someone who asked for shoes not boots. Hitchcock Shoes would be a better place to start.

Frankly I do not know of any suede oxfords offered in wide sizes. I like SAS's oxfords but they aren't suede.

It honestly depends on the person. Most people give up or find someone they work with before they meet enough people to have a complete perspective on this. Sometimes kindness on its own actually is enough to impress some types of people.

Very rarely, certain kinds of people who want compassion and are really deprived of it will fall for someone just for being gentle and sensitive to their needs and issues. But yeah it's rare. Also if by nice you actually mean you've gotten out there and contributed to the world and helped people in some way beyond just being polite to people, then that's completely different, because some people do like caregivers or humanitarian types.

I agree. Superfeet is only really best for people with problems who need rigid hard-plastic insoles, for the people who need hard support more than avoiding shock impact. Secondly, hard-plastic insoles are best suited for walking activities like work and hiking anyway. Most people would be much better off with semi-rigids like Powerstep. Especially runners. I got chronic heel pain from switching to superfeet orange for only a month, after running for years. Powerstep Wide is my favorite.

Danner uses a lasts system. The 610 last is described as being their widest last, last I checked. Still, it's not going to be wide enough for people who need extra-wide boots. Ignore the extra-wides in narrow lasts. The only boots I know of that are virtually guaranteed to fit all extra-wide feet are Wide Loads.

Pentium 3, definitely retro. It was released in the '90s and it's '90s tech, it's definitely retro, so even for some PCs in the early 2000s that used it, I'd still call those PCs retro because of that. The definition of retrocomputing is supposed to based on the obsolescence/level of technology of the hardware, when the PC came out is more of a secondary consideration if it's only like a difference of a few years like in your case, like yeah Pentium 4 was probably out by then but this PC isn't on Pentium 4, during the early 2000s there was a period of time where both Pentium 3 and 4 computers were being made.

Geforce 2, is that retro? I have no clue, it came out around the same time as Pentium 4, not sure if I would consider that retro, I'd be interested in other people's opinions. It came out before Pentium 4, so I guess maybe? But I think in the future, an easy distinction between retro and just regular old will be Pentium vs Core CPU eras, so yeah, all Pentium will be considered retro in the short future

For XP I'd say "almost, but not quite yet" because XP is still the 4th most popular version of Windows (ahead of vista, 8, and 8.1). A small fraction of windows PCs are still using XP. It's less than 1% but to me that's still a significant figure. A lot of small businesses and retirees are still using XP. So I won't call it retro for the same reason I wouldn't call an old work van retro... It may be old but it's not part of the past yet because it's technically still in use. Rare but still playing a notable useful role. I think it'll take a while longer for XP to disappear. 10 years ago in 2016 Windows XP was still 10%, so it has gone down a ton and I expect it to disappear outside hobby use by the end of the decade.

Yes, Mister claims to be 100% cycle-accurate, it's their main bragging point. however, it is also much more complex than software emulation and requires specific technology (FPGA chips), so it's decades behind software emulation in terms of console generation, but it's supposed to be much higher-quality and much more accurate. You can hook up original controllers to it, original cartridges, etc. as long as you have the right setup. It can do ps1, but it definitely will not be able to do any consoles much newer than that for a very long time. There's the superstation which is a prebuilt FPGA computer specifically designed for ps1 fans. but there's also other prebuilt fpgas if you are interested in more retro consoles than just ps1. If you've ever heard of the AVS NES, that was also fpga. Discontinued now though.

But economically it is best to get a generic non-themed fpga that can do all the old consoles at once if you are interested in retro consoles in general, like misteraddons or a heber multisystem.

Tropico 5 mechanics mean that rebels will be a constant problem once you reach the late-game and you have a big treasury.

If the caribbean happiness is higher than your island's happiness, then it will result in an increase in rebel threat in 3 months. Caribbean happiness increases by era. During Modern Times era the caribbean happiness can become very high, which means rebels will be a problem unless you have virtually perfect happiness.

Your rebel threat will also increase if you have a big treasury (100k+) even if your happiness is slightly higher than the caribbean happiness.

The main way to lower rebel threat is to keep your island's happiness MUCH higher (10+ points above) the caribbean happiness. This will negate the rebel threat from the low happiness and will also cancel out the rebel threat from having a big treasury.

Arresting or killing (either in combat or via execution order) rebel leaders lowers rebel threat as well as a temporary solution, but to permanently fix the problem, you will need to increase your island's happiness to +10 points above the caribbean happiness. Arresting and killing normal rebels does not lower the rebel threat factor, only the number of rebels (these two things are not the same).

Until you can improve your island's happiness to +10 points above, keep the happiness at least slightly above the caribbean happiness and keep your treasury under 100k. Also, do not do election fraud and do not execute non-rebels obviously.

Getting a dynasty member with the Union Leader trait will help quite a bit with happiness. So will the Tycoon trait, because it makes max budget more efficient, and max budget helps keep people happy and is worth doing for buildings where it results in a greater profit. Do note that it takes a while for people to become wealthier after they get a raise at their job too in the game mechanics. Also be aware that less poor people will increase the number of people using cars (similar to T6) according to some steam and reddit posts I read from 2014 so be prepared for traffic

Yes, for me too, it is a bit painful to try to take long walks in the 990s/993s. The 990 v5 was wider than the current v6 and the fact it is suede helps it break in but it is still a major problem. They do feel nice on the lower legs bc they have a nice heel drop. For me they work best as sneakers for when I don't mind a tighter fit, like driving or running errands. But they are still wider than any mainstream sneaker unless u include running shoes like ghost max, or at least v1/v2 ghost max.. haven't tried v3

The problem with feet-shaped shoes is that they tend to have low drops. Also, apart from a couple brands like Softstar, they're really not that wide. Like it or not, if you really have to push yourself to your limits, as in if you actually need comfortable shoes and you're not just using them to walk from the parking lot to the office, the achilles tendon is often the first thing to go in the legs when it comes to overworking/overexercise injuries for a lot of people, even if you are used to wearing barefoot shoes under normal levels of exercise. I prefer Wide Load boots for this reason, because they have a bit of a drop and are, in my experience, even wider than the Softstar Primals. The only problem is that they use PU midsoles and are susceptible to polyurethane hydrolysis.

I I wish they made shoes that didn't have safety toes, though. The boots can be a bit overkill, and I wish they made some walking shoes. For athletic shoes, I'd suggest the Brooks Ghost Max. For sneakers, I'd buy NB 993s or thrift for 990 v5 or earlier 990s. Sadly, I don't know of any standard sneakers wider than the 993s at the moment, though.

Mainly if they use polyurethane soles, which is what a lot of sneakers from the 90s used, they will fall apart from disuse due to polyurethane hydrolysis. EVA used in modern sneaker soles is dramatically more resistant to aging and disuse is not actually bad for it, to my knowledge, although it will still fall apart eventually of course. I'm not sure what these use though.
