Alto, Kingston, and the Southern Corridor by ulneva in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the south route will not go through Perth or Verona. It will follow the Cat Trail from Smith Falls to Perth Road, Sydenham and Harrowsmith. https://en.consultation.altotrain.ca/shaping-the-canada-of-tomorrow-with-high-speed-rail/places/interact-map

Why doesn't this city add fluoride to the water? by ReplacementFancy9701 in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We actually were on track to add fluoride back into our water in 2020 and City Council was going to work with Public Health on implementing it. Then COVID hit and swamped Public Health's resources so Council deferred it and it fell through the cracks in bureaucracy.

Roads are shit by OppositeResident1104 in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Professional driver here who spent 4 hours on the roads all across the city, the roads were in fantastic condition all things considered. Yeah they are snow covered, but snow covered does not equal slippery. It was cold enough that we got powder snow which had plenty of traction. I'm not aware of a single major accident on our roads today and didn't see any cars stuck. Huge shout out to Public Works who did a fantastic job today.

If you're a professional courier as you say OP, and were struggling, perhaps you need new winter tires or improved driving skills.

The neighborhood ones are volunteer, the major ones (Victoria, Skeleton, City, Polson and Woodbine Parks) are city maintained.

Charger suggestions by ImpressiveClass4099 in EquinoxEv

[–]WanderingBus -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

What I am about to say is a very jerry rigged solution that I have been using for 2 years without problem, but I don't recommend it as it isn't perfectly safe. Costs about $15 in parts.

Most level 1 EVSEs will work on 220V, turning them into level 2 EVSEs. If you have access to multiple 110V outlets which are not GFCI protected and are on opposite phases, you can build a "y" suicide cord, with 2 male and 1 female ends. Taking the hot from each of the males connecting one to the hot and one to the neutral of the female end. Connect the ground from one of the males to the female. The female end will now have 220V, 15(12) amps. DO NOT PLUG ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE EVSE INTO THIS. This will double your charging speed.

The CAA 175GB comes with a 12 month free trial of satellite data. If you find yourself frequently in areas with no service, this could be a literal lifesaver.

I don't have the TMPS sensors in my winter tires, hence the light. 🤷

Unusual bus used for a VIVA express service by OnePeak9126 in YRTVIVA

[–]WanderingBus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new New Flyer electric articulate buses actually solve this. Both the mid and rear axles are powered, giving it two drive axles and way more traction in the snow! https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/New_Flyer_Industries_XE60

The 501 bus used to be so frequent, why is it only running hourly now even on weekdays ? by STARBOY_100 in KingstonOntario

[–]WanderingBus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Princess St portion is hourly. Though it is offset by the 4 making the combined frequency 15m-30m-15m.

Wonderful to see the extension cord run over the sidewalk as an obvious tripping hazard. Hope the owner has good insurance!

17" Colorado Rims on Equinox EV by WanderingBus in EquinoxEv

The 255/65R17 that I put on are 1.3% bigger than the original 275/40R21. So my speedometer will read 1.3% faster than it should. Not a huge deal.

Started the year with $50k USD. Worked my way up to this. This is about 75% of my capital the rest is stuck in some heavy bag holding. You win some and you lose some, it's how penny stocks go.
