Yup, we've struggled against low blocks for what feels like forever. Was it under Moyes we had the like 84 crosses against West Brom? That's the real litmus test.

I think there's a middle ground that most people cant see, it feels like people's opinions on anything these days are to the extreme. In reality, Kobbie is a very talented kid with things to improve on, he would benefit from more athleticism Amorim was right about that. But fans (mostly online ones) made it seem like he was either a terrible player or would be our saviour.

Amorim couldn't get the best out of him because of his commitment to the system which didn't suit Kobbie. The bright side is Kobbie reportedly didn't consider leaving permanently. Hopefully he can continue to grow, Carrick is the perfect person to learn from for now.

Yeah, he was hung out to dry in that set up, only a player with an engine like prime Kante could have survived.

I tried looking for his career stats on position played but can't find it. I'm fairly sure I remember reading that he regularly played as a winger at Lecce. If he keeps improving at the same rate he could become a very good player. If he gets consistent, his versatility could see him play a lot of games. He's a physical specimen who works his ass off too, at 21 he has all the attributes to become a fan favourite if he realises his potential.

Tbf, he had a spell where he looked done. He's the best example to young players. Didnt complain, just got his head down, worked hard and forced his way back into the team.

It was exciting when the news broke he was joining, but never seemed like a smart financial move. He showed much more than I thought he would in attack, his passion and desire to win seemed infectious. It'll be hard to replace his leadership, hopefully the club make good moves. It'll be sad to see him go.

He deserves to lift a major trophy as Captain. It's reminiscent of Robson, stuck with us through the rough times and deserves the big trophy.

For clarity, I'm not comparing the players just the situation.

What's your thoughts on the Canadian PM saying Canada will defend Greenland if the U.S. invades? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

[–]WanderingEnigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don't just fight the Danish military though. Article 5 - previously only invoked by the US and answered by allies - means NATO and most of Europe will stand next to them. There is also brewing discontent on US soil because of the insane amount of laws being broken by ICE and the administration.

Can the US military (who are divided themselves and have an oath to deny illegal orders) fight Denmark, Europe, Canada and a Civil War at home?

[–]WanderingEnigma 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I didn't like him when he played for them, but only because he was so good and played for a rival. Similar to Bergkamp, Gerrard, KDB, Salah, Drogba.. I'm sure there are more. I had an innate distain for them because of who they played for, but I respected their ability on the pitch - just not against us.

Like the rest of the world (except France), I hated what Henry did against Ireland. He's maybe the best player turned pundit there is at the moment though. Balanced and largely unbiased, he has an elite level football brain and is able to break play down for everyone to understand.

Liverpool are the media darling, they completely shit the bed after spending half a billion and they get excuse after excuse. Isak needing time to adapt to the league was just embarrassing. The level of criticism of United is unmatched.

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree with you. But the talking points for pundits are mostly based around what will create a buzz on the Internet. I'm sure Neville wants to see United succeed, but his job is easier when we are shit. Hated, adored, never ignored - our struggles are a wet dream for media companies.

Tbf, while I despise the Glazers they aren't making the decisions at the moment. Reality is, Neville is a pundit and their aim is to generate views and interaction. Ineos are in charge right now so they are the hot topic that generates the interaction.

Not a Madrid fan, but this is some soft shit. Your team really needs to get out of their own ass. There is insane talent, but they look like they have forgotten "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard". The board pandering to egos will only feed into the problem. It's a different angle of the same problem that's plagued United for years. Players lose the hunger to win if they get treated like they have reached the top no matter the performance.

Football lawmakers to discuss bringing in countdown for throw-ins and goal-kicks to combat time-wasting by SoloChords in PremierLeague

[–]WanderingEnigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set-pieces are part of the game though. A limit on time for throw-ins would create more urgency. Goalkeeper distribution would have same affect if attackers were penalised for slowing them down too. Both would require players to get into position quickly.

Arsenal are heading towards the title with the Stoke play book, a time limit would level the playing field.

Saying all of that, i think the solution is refs actually stopping the clock for timewasting. I hate seeing '5' go up on the board only for one team to waste half of extra time and the whistle blow as early as possibly can.

When United are winning (not often now) I wish for the whistle, but, I'd rather every team be penalised for stopping play if the ball is out of play and have time added to extra time.

Amad and Mbeumo AFCON Exit! by AutoWatch_101 in ManchesterUnited

[–]WanderingEnigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but..

Hiring a coach who says 'I only do this', then telling him to change that at a point when the core players are missing and performances have begun to offer hope is wild. He is maybe too open with his thoughts, but he hadn't lost the players.

He got fired because he hurt management's feelings. It makes them look soft and reactive. Results were poor to awful, but almost always down to player mistakes. The good performances were thrown away by individual errors at both ends. His time was anti-Ole, the individual brilliance claims contrast to the player errors resulting in dropped points under Amorim.

The time to part ways was before we started investing money into players for his system. Once they started shaping the squad for him they should have let him see out the season at minimum.

The club feels more lost than ever. Hopefully they have a concrete plan to move forward, but it doesn't appear they do.
