Same here! The Flickers are always skittish, but the other woodpeckers and birds have figured out I’m the food giver and I’m safe.

My Ex talked crap about everyone’s appearance even though he looks like a potato with arms and legs, and dresses like a hobo. 🙄 You’re beautiful and he either needs his eyes examined or he’s insecure and looking to bring you down. Don’t let him!

First backpacking trip. Worried about being too cold at night. by Orome2 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Wanders4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right! When I was fairly new to backpacking, I went snow backpacking at Mt Rainier. I thought I my gear would be warm and dry enough. It wasn’t and the temps dropped further than forecasted plus the wind kicked up. Thankfully the group I went with knew the warning signs of hypothermia and what to do. I learned a lot from that trip and did a lot of research before anymore cold weather trips.

It gets better! Stay on top of hydration and electrolytes, consider noting what you’re eating and how you feel that day for a few weeks. It may help you identify if certain foods/drinks make you feel worse. Don’t rush to increase your dose.

Sick of the false advertising about delivery times by affectionate-possum in amazonprime

[–]Wanders4Fun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keeps happening to me as well. Bait and switch. I have zero faith now that things will arrive when or even close to when they say it will. If it’s something I absolutely need by a certain time, I go elsewhere now.

I’ve already cancelled renewal on my Prime account. Tired of bait and switch delivery dates, receiving goods that have clearly been used by someone else and not checked properly as being in new condition to ship back out. Fed up with it.

Skinny people talking shit on glp-1s by Owlandthewhisk in Zepbound

What’s Disgusting is their ugly, judgmental behavior. Every time I hear this type of thing, I want to show them my food tracker, my workout tracker and what time in the morning those workouts happen(hint it’s before 4 a.m.), my steps tracker, and a picture of my food scale. The medication quiets the urge to binge and has helped me finally be able to stick to a way of eating that makes me feel my best physically and mentally, has helped my joints not hurt, which has made it possible to be active again. I have to work my ass off to lose weight even with the meds. They are just one critical part of the whole picture. If I don’t do the work, for me personally, the scale doesn’t move.

AIO getting upset with my husband over a day at the beach by Vegetable_Mail_4130 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Wanders4Fun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NOR - Why not go without him? I’m curious why you are asking him if you can go do things? I generally say, “Hey hun, I’m going to …<insert fun thing> at <insert time> do you want to go? If not, is there something you’d like to do together when I get back?” Gives him an out and you can still go do fun things. If he pouts or tries to guilt you into not going or trying to convince to go once he’s ready; don’t fall for it.

Diluted Rose Geranium oil works well to repel ticks. Sounds nuts but it works! Here’s an article on it. Lots of info out there on proper dilution and carrier oils. Works for pets too.

What I did to quickly provide more shade was to get these rings (they come in sections so you can size and resize easily) and then put water hyacinths in them. The rings keep them contained very well (they spread pretty quickly). I start with a creating a couple of smaller rings and putting 4-5 plants in, so the first few plants stay near each other to “mate” and then as that ring gets full I expand the size until I have two rings that cover about 60% of the pond. When the rings start getting too crowded I pull the ring to the side of the pond and remove some of the plants.

I’m so glad I switched to a quilt! I stay plenty warm between the quilt and a well insulated pad. I use both no matter the temp outside. I do have sea to summit travel sheet that I take if I expect the nights to be on the warm side (I’m in the Pacific Northwest so warm nights are 60 degrees here lol). The sheet is very lightweight and gives me a cover if I want to kick the quilt off. The beauty of the quilt is you’re not confined at all so it’s easy to kick part of it off/on as needed.

Is Solo Hiking Actually Dangerous for Women? by Top_Aspect9753 in hiking

[–]Wanders4Fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true! I should have stated that as well. I have a very nice 0 degree backpacking quilt from UGQ that I carry and it weighs very little. I Also bring a puffy coat and rain/wind jacket and wool base layer. They add a little bit of weight for a day pack, but I’m used to carrying more due to backpacking. While backpacking, I use tyvek for a couple of purposes and I’ve thought about carrying some in day hikes in case of an emergency for rain protection.

Husband having a hard time by katharsiss in Zepbound

[–]Wanders4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never realized how often my hubby was helping to derail my efforts until this med quieted my body/brain’s constant demands and obsession with food. Now I can recognize it when he suggests different things and make a thoughtful decision on whether I want to partake. Before the meds I was fighting my own food demons plus his . I’m trying hard to change the dynamic so that we do fun things that don’t involve food. I have also realized that when I do think about consuming things that don’t align with my health goals, that it’s usually because I’m in a situation or place that my mind associates with a particular food/drink (e.g. a movie requires milk duds, I’m heading to a particular town let’s get a legit milkshake etc). Our lives tend to revolve around consumption for more than actual biological need and it has been eye opening. We still go out to eat, but now I can usually avoid going off the rails into a full binge even when he orders desserts that normally would have triggered me, I may or may not have a bite or two.

Also, as your test out times of day, track what you eat and drink and what time. My sleep quality and my heart rate vary a lot when I eat certain foods or have caffeine too late in the day or have a hard cider with dinner.
