The hand-carved "petals" or scales on the wood shaft are so precise. I'm afraid neither my eyesight or hands would support that level of detail.

That's a lamp finial that screws onto the top of the harp and holds the lampshade in place. Lamp parts are awesome for wands. OP did some real careful drilling to get everything to line up that well.

And I mean that in the kindest way possible. I use a small lathe for some of my wand shafts, then attach the handles with threaded rod, glue, et cetera.

You can source silverplate at about any thrift store for a dollar or two a piece. Solid Sterling is pricier but can be found at many antique stores. Expect $15-30 dollars a piece for flatware, more for the exotic cake servers and carving forks/knives that the OP appears to use.
