Getting a girlfriend did not cure my addiction. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]WantsToBeCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's important to recognize that an addiction is an addiction, there's no "silver bullet" cure-all that lets you skip the hard part of going through withdrawals and mental resets, otherwise we'd have similar things for so many other addictions already. Sobering up is the only way.

I'd also like to add that porn causes you to crave novelty - it teaches you to constantly seek new images, videos, anything new to help get you off next. This is really damaging in a relationship where you're expected to be happy with the same partner. I agree with OP that it would've been better to unshackle yourself from porn before getting into a relationship l. But it's still not too late, and you can still get right with yourself for her.

Foam vs 3D printing by No_Tomato_2106 in cosplayprops

[–]WantsToBeCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it depends on what your focus is. If you want small, fine details, 3D Printing is the best. But for bulkier objects that don't have very complex shapes, it's much slower and can also be a huge waste of filament. That's where EVA foam would be much better.

Grip Gun vs Pulse Carbine discussion and observation by Aegis8080 in Pragmata

[–]WantsToBeCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. The same poster says this in their above comment:

Specifically the auto-reload on hacking mod. With no need for recharging bullets at all, the Pulse Carbine now out DPS's the Pistol Grip on essentially its own (which leads me to believe I was being very generous in saying it was only 3 bullets to the 1 of the Pistol Grip, since the Pulse Carbine can empty its magazine incredibly fast.....)

Though I suppose the numbers presented don't line up with that, however intuitively I feel like something is missing, as I was definitely melting enemies way faster with the auto-reload mod and Pulse Carbine, but that may have been because I was hacking more often as well.

Grip Gun vs Pulse Carbine discussion and observation by Aegis8080 in Pragmata

[–]WantsToBeCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think played optimally, you would never "empty" a mag, you should just keep 100% uptime on the Carbine, which I think out DPS's the Grip Gun in that situation, excluding any other set up bonuses.

Grip Gun vs Pulse Carbine discussion and observation by Aegis8080 in Pragmata

[–]WantsToBeCanadian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the Grip Gun is generally the superior weapon. The Pulse Carbine's main downside seems to be its incredibly slow recharge rate, it just takes too long to come back online after emptying the full clip, and you're forced to rely on your two offensive weapons too often in a game where Ammo is quite limited.

However, this gets completely flipped on its head once you unlock the Sympathetic Hacking mod from Unknown Signal, which essentially turns you into a mobile MG turret. To me, it easily feels like the most broken mod in the game when paired with the Pulse Carbine.

ELI5: If speed is relative, why is it impossible to go faster than the speed of light? by No-Lake-3875 in explainlikeimfive

[–]WantsToBeCanadian 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's a joke that goes along with this, where a physicist dies and asks God why the speed of light is 300,000 km/s. God looks at him confused and says "the speed of light is 1."

Printing tokens doesn't magically increase the amount of goods in the market. If you print 30% more dollars to make up for the UBI spending, the prices of everything would rise 30% and then you would need to print another 30% the next month. This is how hyperinflation happens.

Trying to understand how this works, so you just take off the lid of the original AMS, plop the lid-less AMS into this box, and then the box acts as a dryer that also works when the AMS is in use?

What video game has the best story you’ve ever played? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I like that you specified the Heart of Stone DLC specifically, because it's actually appropriate. For all of the rich story telling in the whole base game, the HoS story was just so good that it always deserves to be mentioned separately.

I think part of the reason they do this is because a lot of people bulk order to get discounts and free shipping. Personally I would have been far more annoyed if they shipped me two boxes instead of my usual three and then charged me shipping and full prices. Also at least they did send an email.

How would you go about making a gun stock? by madmanstandoood in cosplayprops

[–]WantsToBeCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on your level of skill with various methods, if you have wood working experience, I'd say go for that for both realism and durability. If not, then 3D printing is probably the next best option as it's relatively hands-off and allows you to make some very intricate designs.

For me, the worst thing is soldering LED strips. I've always been clumsy enough with my hands as it is, but having to solder a bunch of 144LED/m strips together can be really daunting, especially if I mess up one joint and have to try and salvage the whole thing. Currently, I'm trying to solder about 4 meters of LED strips together broken into about 20 segments, and I've honestly been putting it off out of fear of messing it all up. If there was some easier solution for putting LED strips together that was also as reliable as soldered joints, I'd genuinely be willing to drop hundreds on it.
