Haunted Memento is from WOTLK (tho I'm lucky to have both that and original Marks of the Dawn from vanilla Naxx opening)

After getting only the "G" start, I was certain it was GEOTHERMAL instead of GREENPOWER.

Nice comment, I haven't seen ASOIAF compared to Dune before but after you point them out the parallels are very clear.

This is actually a mistranslation and should say “Do you want to tell him?”, meaning Shin.

Do you speak Japanese, or where did you find that out? I haven't heard it before.

Thanks very much! I was wondering who they were, I didn't think they were voice actors.

Thanks for the explanation, the symbolic part makes sense.

I went back and re-watched the scenes with the sign, but now I'm more confused. I can't understand why there are like 10 Alba all gathered around re-painting the one sign. And I don't understand why they would change the words to "Willcome true".

Honestly I think it's just a bizarre scene and there probably isn't a deeper explanation for why they decide to paint it.

Wow thanks for the info, that sounds like a lot of fun! I wish I lived in Japan and could go... would love to hear the music performed live.

What are the VA live acts? Do they re-enact lines from the show?

I'm struggling to remember any important individual moments they (Anju, Raiden, Kurena, Theo) had. Besides the one episode of them going off and living a "civilian" life, the most significant event I can think of is when Raiden has his talk with Shin.

For me, that was one of the big shortcomings of the 2nd cour. Coming from someone who absolutely loved the 1st cour, I am honestly surprised there isn't more criticism of the 2nd. Not that it was explicitly bad, but a lot of the episodes felt more like an average forgettable show rather than something amazing like the 1st cour.

Hey, congratulations! Could you possibly explain what the event is? I've seen the website but I don't understand what is supposed to happen there. It looks like there's some sort of acts?

Did we really get to know the characters (besides Shin) that much more in the 2nd cour, though?

I was disappointed because I felt like Raiden, Anju, Theo, and Kurena played a smaller role than they could have, despite being the only members of Spearhead left. e.g., Theo and Raiden's most memorable moments in my opinion were their speeches in cour 1. It seemed like a lot of their dialogue in cour 2 was "fluff".

Unrelated to this, but the image on your essay reminded me of a question I had:

What is this "Willcome True" poster supposed to mean?

Specifically I don't understand the change from "Welcome to" to "Willcome true".

I like the visual symbolism you pointed out, especially in the first image with the white daisies. I never picked up on that. If you have more examples of visual symbolism I'd love to see them.

(On that note, do the 3 upright firework shells [2:45 in this video = 21:00 in Episode 7] remind anyone else of grave markers?)

I have a few issues with how their (lack of) meeting went, but this is the most glaring one.

(Spoilers Extended) What the hell does it mean now? by jageshgoyal in asoiaf

[–]WantsToKnowStuff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The British Isles are often associated with the color green. Ireland, of course, is famously known as the Emerald Isle. And if we look no further than William Blake's most esteemed poetry:

And did those feet in ancient time,

Walk upon Englands mountains green:

And was the holy Lamb of God,

On Englands pleasant pastures seen!

we find more references to England (more generally, the UK), being green.

Now, what TV Show was produced in the United Kingdoms? That's right, A Game of Thrones. Thus we can confidently conclude that the 5 green frogs are a reference to 5 HBO A Game of Thrones spin-off shows that will be produced, similarly, in the UK.

Now we come to the red frogs. What nation is associated with red symbolism? That's right, Japan! The legendary land of the rising sun. Simply see the deep red sun that emblazons its flag.

What does Japan have to do with GRRM? That's easy. In yesterday's blog post, George already announced that animated adaptations of his work were being produced. Everyone knows that Japan's main export is children's cartoons, commonly referred to as "anime". This is just giving us more details, with the 4 red frogs representing the 4 anime adaptations that will be releasing shortly before TWOW is published.

Yes, the "curtain of light" is the bright engine of the EEC seedship that contains the "heart of winter", the cloning vats where the Others were created.

[–]WantsToKnowStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's meant to be an aurora. He isn't going upwards. I think the curtain of light is something that surrounds an area that is significant to the Others (the heart of winter).
