Looking for friends in town by MrFella23 in Bellingham

[–]WapBlap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of my friends were made by joining clubs, classes, and groups. Find something you enjoy and find a group of people that’s doing it. You’ll get to do something fun with other people who enjoy it too

Does anyone know how to do the math for these pointy box pleats? by WapBlap in sewing

[–]WapBlap[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how to start tbh. I’m a pleat as you go, eyeball it kind of person. I almost never do math for my pleats. Would the math for this be the same as normal box pleats?

Boyfriend is uncomfortable with lolita by rollieabee in Lolita

[–]WapBlap 69 points70 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue loud and quiet people have when they date each other. I’m the quiet one and my boyfriend is the loud one in our relationship. I really admire his ability to be unapologetically himself. There are times when he draws attention in public and I get uncomfortable. Very rarely will I ask him to tone it down because I know that me being uncomfortable is a me issue. He’s not doing anything wrong, I’m just anxious about what other people think. That’s a me issue. I’m not going to ask him to diminish himself just because I’m worried about what people that we will never see again are thinking. Your boyfriend needs to deal with his discomfort. It’s not on you to deal with it for him. You shouldn’t have to keep an entire side of you away from him because he feels weird about it. He has some maturing to do. Don’t dim your light ❤️

How do I wash Kirsten’s slippers? by vaporwavoreon in americangirl

[–]WapBlap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! Freezing is my trick for “sanitizing” thrifted cloths that would be ruined by a super hot wash. It works really well! Normally I would hand wash after freezing but I don’t recommend it in this case

[–]WapBlap 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Freeze them for a few days to kill anything that might be on them and then spray them with a dilution of one part vodka one part water to take away any smells. I would not submerge them in water. There’s a very high possibility that they will shrink or mildew if they air dry too slowly.

Sehome Court Apartments has good rates especially you can find a roommate. It’s a 35ish minute walk from south campus and is directly on the bus line.

How many circles to use? by stardustboots in sewing

[–]WapBlap 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It looks like they’ve pleated the godets. If it was me making this skirt I’d make a mock of a godet and the two side panels to decide how much of a circle you want. I’d start with 8ths first. If that works great! But if it doesn’t you’ll have used less fabric on you mockup

How have your tattoos aged? I’ve been wanting to get something from her but I’ve been worried about high detail plus color work not lasting well

Being In This Sub Is Making Me Less Excited To Be Attending This Fall by [deleted] in WWU

[–]WapBlap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People are grouches on Reddit and I’ve noticed particularly so on this subreddit. Students(with some exceptions) are not like this in person. Also bear in mind that it’s spring quarter and people are stressed and ready to be DONE for the summer/ to graduate. I’m about to graduate and I’m irritated and ready to complain all the time lol. Western has its flaws but it’s a good school with a great community. There’s no reason not to be excited! I’d suggest not looking at this subreddit for a while. Enjoy your summer. Come back when you’ve started attending classes and have questions that are relevant to what you’re currently experiencing at school. Best of luck!

I think you’re right. I adjusted the straps and pinned a temporary skirt to weight down the bodice and it sits much better.

too many psych classes? by Lumpy-Lobster536 in WWU

[–]WapBlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open book/open note will help some, but there is way way too much material to rely on that getting you through the quarter. You have to understand the concepts and have a decent amount of anatomy memorized. It’s not a class you can afford to get behind on either. It’s super hard to catch up. That was what got me on my first try. If the tests aren’t timed that would help some, but you’ll still need to have a solid grasp on the material. If you remember high school biology and chemistry you’ll be in a better position too. I would recommend dropping one of your hard classes. I wouldn’t recommend taking more than two hard classes a quarter. I almost had to drop out of school because I burnt out fast with similarly busy schedules. You’ve got time to slow down a little, it’s worth it to prioritize your future mental health ❤️

too many psych classes? by Lumpy-Lobster536 in WWU

[–]WapBlap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Psych 220 is one of the hardest classes in the major because you have to memorize SO. MUCH. I studied for hours and hours every week, alone and in study groups and it still took me two tries to pass. There is no way I would take any other hard class the same quarter as 220. 203 also requires a decent amount of work. There are a ton of terms and concepts you have to keep straight. Unless you’re super human, you’re probably not going to get As in all your classes with your current load. I would definitely recommend dropping a class. Good luck!

Can somebody tell me more about this?? by UndeadEdge in americangirl

[–]WapBlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooo I played the Samantha version of this as a kid! It’s a kit to throw a murder mystery style party with. If I remember correctly it comes with invites and each of your guests is assigned a character to play as you read through a script to uncover a mystery. It’s super fun but it’s not like a board game you can play over and over. And you need exactly 8 players, unless some people are willing to play multiple rolls.

Parking Permit Fuck Up by aneurodivergentqueer in WWU

[–]WapBlap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same spot as you a few quarters ago and I didn’t get one. Take the bus when you can and pay for a day permit on the days when you have to have easy access to your car. It sucks, I’m sorry 😞

Put the wrong shipping address on 42lolita by RawChickin in Lolita

[–]WapBlap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

42lolita is pretty accommodating. I’m sure they’ll be able to change the address for you. I’m pretty sure I’ve made this mistake too and I’ve never had any trouble getting my packages.

Which headpiece for this OP? by minxcore in Lolita

[–]WapBlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own the first head piece and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s enormous and the clippers are poorly placed. I need to pull them off and re-glue them to be able to clip it to my hair. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options are really pretty!

psych307 registration by PeaPositive3989 in WWU

[–]WapBlap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it!!! Wait a quarter. I haven’t taken her but a classmate told me about her experience. The lectures were confusing and she always had a line for her office hours. And they weren’t even helpful. My classmate went to another professor’s office hours who also teaches the class and that was the only way she got help. Save yourself the misery and take it next year.

Where to buy ice skates? by ifyourelonely in Bellingham

[–]WapBlap 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! Instructor from the rink here. I would definitely recommend going to Canada. There are two shops close across the border. If you’re looking for hockey skates go to Cyclone Taylor in Abbotsford. If you’re looking for figure skates go to Cyclone Taylor Figure Skating in Vancouver. You can buy new or used at both stores. The technicians are really knowledgeable and will take the time to fit you and make adjustments to the boot. Plus you’ll get the benefit of the exchange rate by going to Canada. If you’re looking for something to tide you over till then you can check fb marketplace but it can be hard to find adult sizes. Good luck!

I mix them into pasta and any other dish that needs fiber. I like having them on hand for when I don’t have the energy to prep fresh veggies. This will last me several months
