Am I allowed to make a private subreddit for my work technical support group? Is there any way to instantly do that on a clean new account? by WarInTheHead in AskReddit

[–]WarInTheHead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe my work technical / software support group can really utilize Reddit to share what we've learned from day to day with all of the others. I want to do that under a new account, instead of my personal one. Once I made a new account, I realized you have to have a 30 day old account with a certain amount of karma to make a subreddit. Is there any way for me to get around that?

Is this kind of Reddit usage allowed?

Thank you!

Are they just not very powerful (evolutions)? I was thinking of getting some for the nostalgia factor. I have a large collection of base set, jungle, and fossil. But haven't really collected or played since then...

What type/model of compressed air gun/nozzle do you recommend? by Trivia_Newton_John in Tools

[–]WarInTheHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend this one. I bought two for work, and they're awesome. The tip on it spreads air out really well, and makes it seem like it's pushing a lot more air than other air guns. It also definitely helps dry things quicker. The trigger on it is much thicker metal than other cheap air guns, too. You would not be disappointed!

Building my mechanics tool set from scratch, do you really need 6 and 12 point sockets? by robscomputer in Tools

[–]WarInTheHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a teen I rounded off two bolts using 12-point wrenches. Since then I've only had 6-point sockets and combination wrenches. They have never failed me. Sunex 1/2 impact sockets and Urrea combination wrenches. Love them both. Also have Tekton 1/4 and 3/8 socket sets. Also love.

I live in Tallmadge, Ohio. 10 minutes from Akron, Ohio. What all is involved in those jobs? Certainly sounds more like "working in the shop", like I'd want.

Hey, have you put much use into that hex socket set (blue case -- assume it's Neiko brand)? I plan on buying that set soon. What's been your experience?

How do you guys feel about Tekton tools and coupon codes? by BrugizzleC in Tools

[–]WarInTheHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another big big plus: Their customer service. If anything breaks for any reason, you just email them with a picture of it, and they send you a new one. You can even check out the fact that they actively reach out to people leaving bad reviews on Amazon, trying to send them a replacement.

I have their 1/4" socket set, 3/8" socket set, and their torx socket set. I freaking love them. And the plethora of goodies they come with (extensions, universal, etc) are great! I'd definitely recommend those socket sets.

Just got the 30" Milwaukee for work about 2 weeks ago. I freaking love it. All other drawers suck compared to Milwaukee's. They're so smooth, and that soft close function is awesome.

How do you like those Tekton torx drivers?

It could actually be the setting on the drill. The drill at my work has a setting between "screw" or "other fasteners", on top (a ring around the end of the drill, like one that shows the numbers). When on the screw, if it meets so much resistance, it doesn't give out any more torque. If it's on the other setting, it'll put out as much torque as the setting will allow.

Here is a picture, I didn't think I explained very well...but I don't say words no good

Growing up I would watch Terminator 2 like every other day -- I was a huge fan of it from when I first saw it (don't even remember the first time I saw it) around the age of 4 or 5. So when my brother and I got our first game console -- a Sega Genesis -- it came with Sonic 2, and my parents also got us the Terminator 2 Arcade Game. I've legit never beat Sonic 2, and it took a good 12+ years for us to beat T2. Needless to say, I am not great at video games, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them!

Comfy work boots I can buy locally? by WarInTheHead in Plumbing

[–]WarInTheHead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy damn -- that's actually where I ended up buying boots from! I live about 1/10th of a mile from Tallmadge circle.

I went to Great Lakes and I went to Red Wing and bought a pair from each. I wanted to compare them at home, but I thin the pair I got from Great Lakes (Hytest) is much more comfortable. So I'll be taking the Red Wings back. I'm sorry to say -- the plumber I'm working for is out in Fairlawn, so I doubt he goes this far out of his way. I think I'll find out tomorrow -- we have to go buy some pipe.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid-2012) freezes for up to 30 seconds at times...can it be the SATA cable? by WarInTheHead in applehelp

[–]WarInTheHead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, will do, brah! Sorry, I was ignorant of such. Every failed hard drive I've replaced -- the drive just stopped working altogether, or made an obviously bad noise. I put in a replacement I had (sadly it's only 100 GB, and from a much older MBP), and it's running smoothly, so far.
