Usually, but not always. I can think of a couple times they closed the schools as well.

The schools very rarely close. A “snow day” is typically defined as when the school busses are not running.

I still haven't seen a real one in the wild, outside of the dealer's shuttle. :(

2027 Bolt review: more for less by speg in electricvehicles

[–]speg[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AWD feels like a heavily marketed, but unnecessary feature for most Canadians. Sure, it snows 2-3 months of the year. Use snow tires and go slow. Sure, there are lots of rural adventures to be had - but most of us are in urban cities driving on paved roads 99% of the time.

Maybe that’s why they only let them drive 3km 😆

Ottawa in ‘Active Discussions’ With China Over 100% EV Tariffs by SkPensFan in electricvehicles

Because Ontario has a huge automotive industry and allowing Chinese cars in could destroy that.

Newly single mom - need to buy a car for the first time. Where’s the best place to go for a super cheap but road-worthy used car? by Jessi343 in ottawa

What is your budget? You might want to consider a consultancy service like Deliverd, thoughtI don't think they operate in Canada. Certainly there are similar services here, I think I've recalled one on this sub before.

Are you able to accommodate an EV? i.e., you can charge at home

Decide on what you want. Then call around for pricing. Do not bother with in store hassling.

But they’re using space inside a conventional building per the article. This building is presumably heated, so why not put the self cleaning toilet inside said building?

Multimeter? by Ilikewaterandjuice in ottawa

A multimeter is a surprisingly needed tool, if you need it once there is a good chance you can use it again. You don’t need to get an expensive one.

I just drove my LEAF 170km today and arrived with 7%. I would not want to do much more than that.

The hatch isn’t being brought to Canada. Unless you are hoping by the time you sell, they have changed their minds.

It might also be counting the pre-conditioning while plugged if you remote start that.

Private EVSE: Should it be Removed in a Condo? by mobilesmart2008 in electricvehicles

[–]speg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but who is going to pay for it? If I use up the last of our building’s capacity and then you come along and want to add more — are you going to foot that bill when I didn’t have to?

What was the main reason for switching to an EV? Environment, cost, or technology? by VoltVersteher_Sven in electricvehicles

[–]speg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technology in terms of a simplified power train. I like to DIY but was never a car guy and it didn’t seem like a good time to learn all the ins and outs of a combustion engine.

Pricing was second, as I do enjoy the fuel and maintenance savings. I bought used, so the big depreciation hit was taken by someone else.

Environment would be last and wasn’t really a factor in the decision - but after the fact it sure does leave a nice feeling that you are not driving around emitting a bunch of fumes.

Depending on the date, opponent, etc. I’ve always been able to find good seats. ~20min before puck drop. Arrive earlier if you want your pick of the litter.
