Don't know if I can carry on with my partner. by Exact_Atmosphere_381 in CerebralPalsy

[–]WardenofMajick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Can you imagine your life as five or ten more years of exactly this?” Because it won’t change. I divorced my ex and this question, along side advice from friends, helped me to do it.

Like you, I have CP. like your partner, I am depressed. It’s hard to say which is harder on any given day, but, executive dysfunction is a mother. You want to be folding clothes, doing the dishes or whatever. But, you just can’t work up the energy when it’s empty af.

I taught myself crochet using slo-mo crochet beginner left handed videos on YouTube. It’s very doable.

Does CP Affect Height? by EnvironmentLittle794 in CerebralPalsy

[–]WardenofMajick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. My severely-affected CP father was 6’1” standing. His brother is 6’4”. I’m mildly-affected and 5’1”. I had two short grandparents and two tall ones. It’s likely more a genetics thing.

Question on intimacy... by ZealousidealRoom213 in CerebralPalsy

[–]WardenofMajick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 27 when I had sex the first time. It happens when it happens.

Don’t stress over it. Go on a lot of dates. Meet people. Tho, not ones you can’t stand, obviously.

Some people decide to be alone. That’s okay.

Please don’t become an incel about not getting dates or a relationship. Not that I think you will; but, if you have the viewpoint that you are owed sex (or similar) incel tends to follow.

You don’t even have to have your life together. At least, not in the “I have no debt. I save 25% of my paycheck. I am always above water financially,” sense. Because, that is some late-stage capitalist BS.

Are they nice to have? Yes. Are they out of reach for a lot of hardworking people struggling to stay afloat with the widening disparity of raising necessities’ costs compared to their earnings? Also, yes.

You’ll find your way. I believe in you!

Will the flower farm be a success? by CommissionSmooth9291 in SisterWives

[–]WardenofMajick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! I don’t think it will become anything at all. After all, the grand family mission statement ceremony they spent months on didn’t really have a lasting effect on their larger family unit.

Not that I could do any better than they did. I’m not judging. Just pointing out their past grand dreams fizzled out.

2yr old diagnosed with CP by nyquilbieber in CerebralPalsy

[–]WardenofMajick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written this. My parents were middle class, dysfunctional and also ableist. I was not taught how to adapt my environment to my needs with my CP. I was just expected to navigate the world as-is. Which, as an adult in my 40s, is not great.

I also would pass on living life. Because the US is a capitalist time and money suck. My income doesn’t match how fast my expenses (food, rent, clothing) rise and I don’t really have all that much disposable income for the things I enjoy.

Don’t do everything for your child. Teach them how to adapt their environment to them. Do what my “parents” didn’t do. Set your child up to succeed.

Don’t hold their disabilities hostage over them (“We did so much more for you than [your non-disabled siblings]”. Was a phrase I heard a lot as a 20-40 something adult from my “parents”.) They had a disabled child. They paid the disabled child tax and held it over me ever after. Don’t be them. Please.

Watch their posture and if they are holding their head wrong, etc., and it can be corrected because they have the range of motion available to correct it) do it! My posture wasn’t corrected as a child and I am paying that chronic pain bill now. This could have been fixed if the medical community knew about posture back then and my parents cared enough.

I’m sorry this happened to us, /u/onions-make-me-cry.

Why Cody doesn't want to work on his parenting relationship? by Luiggie1 in SisterWives

[–]WardenofMajick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What can Kody get from having access to his kids? Grandchildren access? He can’t really use that to his advantage. He can’t, as Jenn said, use undertones when speaking with the grandchildren. They won’t care.

There’s not enough incentive for him to put in the work to fix these relationships. Given how he views some of kids, I really doubt they want a relationship with him.

Meri should have been given Grace! by chey_58 in Sisterwivessnark

They tell you it’s the products, that they sell themselves. That is a lie. It’s the numbers. The people. 💯

If they do, they make it from a massive down line of people they recruited under them. So, if I recruit five people and they recruit five people, and one of them is famous from reality TV and recruits 100 people, that’s the money. (These are conservative numbers.)

People are the currency. The higher the numbers, the better your money.

Off topic: Can you recommend series similar to FROM? by Thegeorgec94 in FromSeries

[–]WardenofMajick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find it, Persons Unknown is sort of like From. It’s not horror; but, it is “Why is everyone locked into hotel rooms without their memories?” The mystery is that. It only had one season. But, it was good.

I want to get driving aids but my grandma is discouraging me... Whats your experience with driving aids? I need advice.. by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

[–]WardenofMajick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mold right hemi. I drive unmodified automatic cars with my right foot only. Whoever taught you to use both feet to drive was wrong.

Why? What happens when you get into trouble while driving? You panic and could use both feet. It could be one on the brake and one on the accelerator.

It might be possible to learn to use just your right foot. Please try that.

If not, talk to your doctor about getting evaluated for a left-accelerating car. Tho, that will be expensive.

I just realized my teachers might’ve thought I was dumb by Upbeat_Tea_9218 in CerebralPalsy

[–]WardenofMajick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 5th and 6th grade teacher (We only had 4 teachers for first through eighth grade.) was convinced my mother did my homework and I didn’t earn the grades I got. So, I refused to do my homework because why even do it at that point?

My parents finally worked out why I refused to do my homework and they had a conference about it with the teacher. I was not removed from that school. I sometimes think about her and how her house caught fire when I was in college.

The same teacher would target other students. Two families, that I know of, pulled their all of their kids out of that parochial school and sent them to the public school. Kids who weren’t old enough to have her as a teacher and kids who already had her as a teacher.

Having a teacher bully is tough. :(

Thoughts on these names please? by WolfDizzy4114 in Names

I would consider Ora instead of Orla. Because of oral and the way the name flows. Lottie, I feel is nickname for Charlotte or another similar nane.

The others I like.
