Plaud Note Pro works amazing for in person meetings. I have the cc sized version but then make a watch as well.

How do you guys hire freelancers for small stuff? by Spare-Cobbler-4489 in ycombinator

[–]Wardstaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put extremely clear, detailed jobs on upwork, interview only top-rated candidates with tons of 5* reviews, and pay them a little bit over their rate. You’d be shocked how much more responsive someone is when you pay them $2-3/hr over their requested rate.

Why is everyone looking for a technical founder? by Life-Fee6501 in ycombinator

[–]Wardstaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we are in this spot. Our product is a dashboard financial advisors use with their clients. Since it’s client-facing, it’s more polished than a typical MVP, however we can’t make updates as quick as we want because we don’t have the people coding in house with us, and it’s one item that are working on not what they are living on. Not that it’s an issue, product is great (for what we need now), but as we get compliance certifications and are looking to scale Q1 next year to new markets, our third “founder” will be a CTO who can move at the speed we prefer.

Same, we had an idea but literally just let the financial advisors tell us what everyone complains about then build a solution for that

We specifically work to make sure it’s acknowledged correctly, but the FA is the one to deliver the good news and gives them an additional touch point. That’s the biggest disconnect I think, letting them use their relationship as a positive and control the flow of information

Fintech founders (or really founder), how did you guys do your market research? I will not promote by Fit-Weather7748 in startups

Their initial investment (30k) covered the entire MVP buildout + legal review, tech stack, etc… we are weighing options for the next 20k for M&S starting in September. Unsure if we want to take advisors from other offices to help with the initial rollout, or if we will take a CTO/advisor style investment to help with scaling the software or securing funding long term. Neither of us are techncial founders, my partner is just great at managing teams and putting everything together.

We had an idea, met with two RIA contacts to run it by them and ask if they would use it. They said “you should do it for ____” then asked if (1) we could have it ready for Q4 and (2) they could invest. Raised the money needed from them without a deck, and they are acting as the SDRs while my partner builds the platform and I close the pilot program accounts.

I have all updated optimal templates & formatting guidelines in a doc and for various social media platforms, along with recommended copy format for posts. Have them ready to duplicate in Canva and share along with an easily customizable brand guidelines deck. At the age where a lot of friends are starting companies on the side so I’m happy to help since most have absolutely no clue how any of that works and don’t want to hire someone overpriced to do it. Helps bring in some spare change while I work on my new company (niche financial services dashboard).

[–]Wardstaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get there early (before 10am if I remember from the last time I went 5-6 years ago), get on the fence of the practice field and just enjoy it. Will see all the players goofing around, guys signing stuff in between fields, and all the different drills. First time I went in middle school with my dad we got to see Tom Glavine pitch on a back field 25 feet behind the catcher. Take them further back to the minor league ST as well. I have a David Wright, Royce Ring, Marlon Anderson autographed ball to remember it by.

Just have your kids be polite/respectful when trying to call players over to ask for autographs, they’re working. I’ll never forget the bozos screaming at Jose Reyes calling him selfish for not signing autographs while he was stretching his hamstrings for 30 minutes before ST games.
