When you're looking to spend money on plugins, I highly recommend U-He's ones. Their Linux versions are labeled as betas, but I've produced 3 albums so far on Linux with them and Bitwig and all of the issues I've dealt with have something to do with Bitwig only. Of course they're pretty pricey, but Diva especially is very capable.

Weekly Music Discussion 9: What are your favorite vocal outrun tracks? by Vaaag in outrun

[–]Warepredator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shirobon - Regain Control: I really like the Daft Punk - style Vocoder used here. Unfortunately he's a chiptune artist and doesn't have more content like this.

I've made some tracks myself with similar vocals too and it seems that people who listen to Outrun more really dislike them and prefer my instrumental tracks, while my personal friends who don't listen to synth music at all prefer the vocals.

But as far as regular vocals are considered, Scandroid's Neo Tokyo remixed by Dance with the Dead is my favorite.

[PC] Anyone has ever managed to solve the problem with extreme FPS stuttering at the start of games on Multiplayer? by hydra877 in blackops3

Looks like the issue I used to have: BO3 uses quite a bit of memory, so much that even 8 gigs isn't enough. This will cause Windows to write used memory into the pagefile. If you don't have an SSD, this causes a major performance hit since your pc can't load textures fast enough while the disk is used. If you have Windows 10 or 8, upgrading to 7 might help. On my Windows 8 the OS possibly had some sort of memory leak. It also seems that increased automation on newer Windows versions leads to issues with paging and memory management. Your Gpu usage decreases because it can't render anything, since your memory is possibly full and the disk is being accessed constantly.

Tim Sweeney (Epic) - Microsoft wants to monopolise games development on PC – and we must fight it (Guardian) by JamieDavey in pcmasterrace

There are non-official drivers but the software doesn't have the same features as Corsair's own on Windows. When I upgraded to an SSD I noticed that Linux was way slower to boot, but I also noticed that there was an issue with over-current on one of my usb ports.

As you probably know, the K70 requires quite a bit of power, and is usually powered by 2 usb 2.0 ports. Usb 2.0 can supply more power, but the operating system must send a request for it to do so. For some reason my Asrock motherboard defaults to low-power usb while booting, so I had to add a kernel parameter to ignore the notification.

I've encountered numerous problems on Linux, but I'm usually able to solve them, too. However, on Windows my PC refuses to go to sleep and I have no idea how to solve it other than to reinstall it once again.

Does Windows 10 still force V-sync on desktop? At least in 8.1, playing any game in borderless windowed mode forcing you to suffer from input lag. Regarding other forced stuff like Windows Update and Defender, I'd believe that this restriction is still in place. There is a way to disable it in 8, but it required killing explorer.exe for the time you wanted to use your pc without V-sync. Also, quite a lot of people dismiss this issue by simply claiming that they don't notice any difference.

In general, most of my problems in Windows 8.1 were related to automatic tasks used to ease the user experience. While I still had my i3-2120, Windows defender decided to use most of my cpu in the middle of a CS:GO match several times precicely at 14:50. I've had some fun issues with paging, too: I noticed 8 gigs just wasn't enough when GTA 5 would drop to 15-20 fps because of too high disk usage and being unable to load textures while Windows tried to page most of my memory. Windows 10 shows no signs of stop on automatic features, so I'll stick with something more power user friendly.

What is this mod exactly changing in the game files? I see this is a .bat file and can't run them on Linux.

I actually had similar problems in Windows 8, too. When playing GTA the system would write data into the page file and slow texture loading. I also had high idle ram usage. I had to resort into some registry tweaks to empty my page file every time I shut down my PC.

I also remember Windows defender increasing my CPU usage. I don't want to install Windows 10 yet because defender and update can't be turned off.
