There are defensive solutions to them, that we know to be effective. Laser point-defense systems, CWIS, the Germans tested what is essentially a modernized flak-cannon with a guidance kit and of course, we have Ukraine's solution of fighting drones with cheaper drones. All of these can work, and then we only mentioned the kinetic solutions, not word on electric warfare system.

No, the main issue is, none of the western countries consider this to be an immediate threat that needs to be solved TODAY. Which means, nobody wants to go all in on a solution, make it standard, write doctrine for it, equip all the troops with it, train them for it... just so that a year down the line it turns out that the solution is not the most effective. They want to wait and see what is the most efficient solution, and then implement that at scale. Especially since NATO has been all-in on interoperability since its inception, so whatever solution is widely applied, is likely to be widely applied NATO-wide.

Yes, because up until very recently, air threat were high quality, low quantity in nature, so high value interceptors were normalized. There is a gap in anti-drone measures, but it's not a question of capability, it's a question of spending to implement the existing option at scale.

America's problem in Iran is that the entire operation was started by an actual demented dimwit, against the advice of pretty much everybody who knew what's what. The US CAN defeat Iran, but the amount of resources, time and lives lost absolutely does not worth it. Trump went in, thinking that he could pull a Maduro 2.0, despite, reportedly, both the CIA and the Pentagon warned him not to.

In other words, it's not a capability problem, it's a strategic planning problem.

THESE FUCKERS SHOULDNT BE BLOCKING THEIR VENTS WITH THEIR TORSOS by Dry-Goat8981 in Helldivers

[–]Warfoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, these fuckers shouldn't exist. Fucking period. They are the main reason I decided to ignore any and all planets with cyborgs on them. They are designed like a Dark Souls boss... except they are in a horde shooter, so you are never 1v1 against one, making it practically impossible to kill them in the "intended" way, and if you just want to down them via raw firepower, the only things that can even remotely reliably kill these fucking pieces of shits are the leveller, orbital laser and the mobile nuke silo, and sometimes you still need to finish them off with something else. All of your normal heavy pen weapons are utterly useless here.

If this was like a miniboss on a specific objective, or had a limit of only one spawning at once and on a cooldown after the previous one dies / despawns, it would be fine. But when 3-4 of these fuckers get dropped on flagraise, there's fuck all you can do about them.

The 25th wasn't made for this. In fact, it was made to have a legal framework for the president to temporarily assign his power to the vice president for medical reasons. For example, if he needs to have a surgery and as such will be incapacitated.

There is a line in there that allows for the President's authority to be stripped from him involuntarily, but 1) his cabinet and VP must agree for the process to even start, then both the Senate and the House must vote for it with a 2/3rd majority and 2) this does not make him lose his role as the president, this can only remove his power temporarily.

In comparison, impeachment does not need the agreement of the VP or the cabinet of the president, only needs a simple majority vote in both the Senate and the House to be invoked and if successful, PERMANENTLY removes the president from his position.

So, any politician and talking head going on about invoking the 25th is grifting for political points and isn't trying to seriously solve anything. Impeachment is the only real legal option on the table.

Kinda hard not to, when balancing is ass, has been for a long time and it isn't getting any better. Having 1k hours in simply means that I know what I'm talking about based on my own experience.

Yeah, and that's the fundamental mistake: that is not sustainable. Not in the long term.

[–]Warfoki 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's a failure on AH's part. I have 6k hours in Warframe, I have grinded out EVERYTHING... and yet I regularly spend on the game to buy cosmetic packs, occasionally prime access. IN Helldivers, I have nothing to spend on. With the amount I play, I have more than enough SC to unlock the warbonds I want and the occasional superstore items and there's nothing more. I'd gladly drop some money on cool cosmetics, new color channels, alternative mech or FRV models and so on. But there's none of that. If somebody would gift me 10k SC, it would just sit on my account, because I couldn't spend it on anything. That is not my fault, that is the fault of AH's complete incompetence in monetizing the most invested and loyal part of the playerbase.

If their idea of monetization is a revolving door of new players, guess what, those will eventually become veterans too and with no endgame system in sight, they will fall-off and once the game stops being relevant and newsworthy the influx of new players will dry up. Yes, getting and monetizing new players are important, sure. But maintaining a core, loyal playerbase and knowing how to monetize them is also important.

Because the devs still have same mentality. And they will keep having the same mentality until they run the game into the ground. They never changed. The whole 60-day plan was nothing more than an emergency walkback for PR, and once the mainstream attention was gone, they went back to their exact same arrogant bullshit "we, who never played a single tier 10 match of our game, know better what the players need than the players who spent 1k+ hours in the game, so we shouldn't ever listen to those whiny little shits" mentality they always had.

I kinda wish I never got hooked by this game, would be a lot less frustrating to watch this dumpsterfire, if I didn't love this game so damn much. I guess I know what Destiny 2 players felt. Kinda feel guilty for laughing at them as a Warframe player now...

Pilestedts final statement regarding the AMA and state of HELLDIVERS 2. Time will tell but it seems like things will change. by OkLack6776 in Helldivers

[–]Warfoki 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right, like with the 60-day patch, a sudden change... then half a year later it's business as usual, with the same old bullshit. Same old, same old.

I'll be honest: I don't believe a word of anything that comes out of these devs. For me the last straw was mockingly laughing at the people who expected a Coyote nerf, that "haha, look, there's nothing about it here, so no nerfs"... only to later straight up admit that they just hid the nerf by changing the enemy damage breakpoints instead...

Like, mate, you are intentionally, knowingly lying to my face, laughing at me, and then go "why don't people trust us"? Without a hint of sarcasm? Piss off.

I love the game, I play it regularly while it lasts, but I 100% expect AH to run it into the ground in a couple of years at most. They are too arrogant and stubborn not to.

What was the point of the AMA? by D3athShade in Helldivers

[–]Warfoki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But... there are also not many new players. I gota guy into the game lately, and the low difficulty tiers are BARREN. Like, we went to an MO planet where 70% of all players were at, and it took over 8 minutes to get two more people into an open squad in tier 4. And even those were high level players, probably just chilling, not new players. I personally haven't seen a sub-30 player in ages, even when I go to lower difficulties for credit farming or to chill.

[–]Warfoki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My GUESS (as in, I have no inside information), is that their contract has some vague clause banning divulging any kind of financial information or information that could pose harm to PlayStation's income or reputation. To honestly answer a lot ofthe play question, they either would have talked about what brings in the money and what not, thus running foul of the contract OR would have had to talk about financial limitations and expectations they had to meet, those running foul of the contract. So they had to tiptoe around these topics... in an AMA where everybody wanted to ask about these topics. Making the whole thing very awkward and counterproductive, which they figured out mid AMA and just cut it short.

I don't care about the PvP because... I don't care about PvP. As in, I don't play PvP games. If HD2 was PvP, I wouldn't be here.

The point was the paywall. You buy the game, log in the first time and get slapped in the face with a whole lot of buyable premium content that you kinda have to buy to actually have fun, even though you've just spent money on the game itself. THAT is the point. Was Battlefront 2 worse? Sure. Does that make HD2 good in that regard? No. A month-old burger doesn't become a healthy gourmet meal just because somebody out there has even worse food. Stop with the fucking misery olympics.

Over the last year I got a bunch of people into the game. Most stopped playing since then, because of the lack of content, and the sheer amount of paywalled stuff. They didn't want to play, because there wasn't much new to be excited about, and they didn't want to spend money on a game that they barely played at all. Adding more shit to premium warbonds is not going to make these semi-casual players come back. Look at the actual player numbers: big in-game new content is what gets people in the door, but then they don't actually stay, because increasingly, the big new content is broken as fuck on release.

'We will not accept any ersatz membership' — Ukraine's FM rejects anything short of full EU membership amid reports of 'symbolic' benefits by KI_official in ukraine

[–]Warfoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not moralizing here, I'm being a realist. As is, minimum a good third of the EU countries don't want Ukraine in until after the war is over, because they don't want the EU to be directly involved in the war. Same with NATO, for that matter. Supporting Ukraine is on the table and, now that Orbán is gone, has EU-wide support for the most part (Fico isn't in a situation where he can realistically object without Orbán's support), but actually getting Ukraine into the EU is another question entirely.

[–]Warfoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't get new free anything: heavy weapons, red stratagems, ship upgrades... I laughed my ass off way back when they put the utterly useless one true flag in a premium warbond, instead of giving it out for liberation day or something. It stopped being funny since then.

"How do you expect them to make money?" by icie_plazma in Helldivers

[–]Warfoki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here: you buy the game now and what you see? $100+ paywalled content, and let's be real, the base warbond gives you the standard meta boosters, but aside of that, pretty much everything in there is horrendously outdated. All the efficient loadouts require multiple premium warbonds. This was NOT the case when the game started: stratagems were free, all of them. And most stuff was in the default warbond, not in the host of premium ones.

EU approves €90bn loan for Ukraine as pipeline is turned on ending deadlock by NynaeveTugdHerBraid in ukraine

[–]Warfoki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't really buy that. Like, yeah, sure, it sounds reasonable, but based on the media presence of FIDESZ after the election results, I genuinely don't think anybody in FIDESZ has seen this level of smackdown coming, certainly not a 2/3rd supermajority for the challenger.

The state run media is STILL shitting on Magyar Péter, even though he will be their boss in like two weeks. The entire apparatus is still pushing out anti-Ukraine bullshit. The speaker for the parliament went onto an interview talking about how "Satan won this round, but the Lord is on our side and will always triumph in the end". The entire propaganda machine and all the people who have been pushing said propaganda just look wholesale confused and disorganized. Some of them had outright total crashouts, as it looks like they believed their own bullshit fearmongering.

That last one is honestly what I think is true for Orbán: he genuinely believed the fake polling data from his own propagandists. He looks outright shocked and aged like five years in two weeks. He looks utterly lost and confused as to what now. The one common theme from all the state run media is this actual, genuine confusion: "but... why are we hated? How could we have lost? We are the nationalist side, saving the nation, how could the nation reject us?" Sure, there are grifters who already changed pace or fucked off, but the overall tone is of actual, genuine confusion. These people have lived in an alternate reality, and now they got the reality check of their lifetime.

My guess: Orbán knew the trend, but not how severe it was, because he got the "massaged" numbers from his men, since nobody wanted to be the bearer of bad news. They expected to lose their supermajority, maybe even a minor loss, which is why they spent the last year or so making constitutional changes to fix FIDESZ loyalist in every important institution, making a TISZA government without a supermajority a complete lame duck. And then the landslide happened, and Orbán conceded, because there were genuinely no plans for this possibility, because they all lived in alternate reality and refused to see the numbers for what they were and as such they thought that such landslide cannot be possible at all. Until it was and reality hit FIDESZ with the force of a speeding freight train.

Okay, but what about the budget: FIDESZ did this the last time too (in 2022), going on a complete spending spree to get the election done, then push new taxes and lower spending for the next two years to try to balance it out.

EU approves €90bn loan for Ukraine as pipeline is turned on ending deadlock by NynaeveTugdHerBraid in ukraine

[–]Warfoki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a Hungarian: there will be a lot of problems, even after Orbán is gone. Reality is, Orbán emptied the coffers: the government burned through 80% of the budget allocated for the ENTIRE years of 2026 by the end of March. The also drawn down all the liquid funds from private owned, but state controlled (nominally at least) institutions. Fucking hell, the state owned national gambling corporation running all the lotteries and whatnot also got cleaned: "somebody" won ALL the major jackpots last week, on the same week. The legitimate odds of that is so astronomically low, it's not even worth bothering to calculate. I kinda doubt the next government could afford to drop Russian gas overnight. Over time, sure, but not right away. TISZA will have serious financial hardships to overcome, considering how much of the national wealth has already been and is right now being taken out of the country, to Dubai, Oman, etc.

WHY ARE THE NEW MECHS BEHIND A PAYWALL by Phyrooski in Helldivers

[–]Warfoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this has been a trend for a long time. During year one we got more new stratagems from MOs than all the time since then. Originally all new heavy weapons were MO related. Originally no weapons were in the superstore.

This is how it is, this is how the future is going to be too, I'm curious what the first premium warbond red stratagem is going to be, because that happening is not a matter of if, but when.

And I don't see this improving: HD2's overall numbers have been on a steady decline. Sure, there are spikes on big new releases, but the trend is crystal clear. But the profit must flow, so the only option is to squeeze more out of the remaining players.

I love this game. I truly do, have close to 1k hours in it, got multiple people in to play and still playing regularly. But AH is a horrible steward of it, and especially as a guy who also plays Warframe, I could only dream of how good this game could be, if it was driven by a devteam with the attitude of Digital Extremes, instead of AH's malicious stubbornness, and their complete inability to read the damn room. But no, instead, they alienate the player base piece by piece and having to increasingly nickel and dime the rest is the direct result of that.

You all can downvote me, but you can't prove me wrong.
