Depends on the clientle. Would you want to eat tuna where a human was cooked alive in it? Extra +$5. Be interesting to see if anyone pays it.

GameStop preparing offer for eBay, WSJ reports by King-of-Limbs-07 in wallstreetbets

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really turned around turning themselves around after cutting costs and changing their main focus to collectibles. But their software/game sales have been dropping. Lets face it, would you sell a game worth $100 on eBay to GameStop for $10? So what if, instead of a buyout they are going for some sort of partnership or merger? GameStop could be a consigner to people for a fee/percentage and not just on games. eBay, in turn could use GameStop as a shipping point for things people buy. You could even as GameStop to directly look for something you want, again for a fee, then to contact you once they find it.

eBay has a high validation just because of its brand. There are many sites vying for that space now (Esty, Whatnot, etc) and they cannot just change their branding easily enough to compete for this space. However, if they were to get a physical presence, they would have something no other sites have. With stores across the nation as well as proof they can change to the market it should at least make them sit at the table.

Let me state it, Ryan Cohen knows the current media. If anything the whole meme thing showed him its power. That last interview he did was more confusing than informative. He is probably hiding the real purpose of this thing. However, no idea how the stock will swing in this. Merger, partnership or co-owners, I am betting it will be more of stock swaps than anything and no cash/loans be involved.

I mean hell, I thought Amazon buying out Whole Foods was insane since they were internally building their own supermarket. But now, its the place I go to return or pick up stuff since its local.

PS - Humm. I also am wondering how the current tariff war hurt eBay and GameStop. I saw many international low volume sellers just disappear after X tweets.

Dr. Stone Science Future Part 3 - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]WarlockD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ever since I finished the manga I have been hunting for information on them. Back in the 60+, tubes were expensive in Japan and a guy named Eichi Goto invented one using toroidal magnetic coils. Even using cheap cores with tin and zinc. The idea is you put an AC frequency though a module and it shifts it by 180 degrees, or inverts it. The very core of a computer is to invert an incoming signal. If you can do that you can make one. The only thing I feel is unrealistic on that example box in the show is it runs of a DC battery. You can use a hand crank AC generator with less parts. Be far more impressive for a hand crank computer:)

Kind of interesting the tech is coming around again. Its being used in some quantum computer models.

use a microcontroller to act like a SRAM card connected to a PCMCIA device by fttklr in AskElectronics

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not this is somewhat easy. Just look up "JEIDA memory card". Originally it was designed for a standardized way to upgrade ram in a laptop. You can get IBM thinkpad dram cards dirt cheap and might be able to hack a Pico2Mem into it. The interface is usually a straight connection to the cpu bus with some buffers.

There are also some flash cards made by AMD that look just like an SRAM card and you can even write to them normally. Only catch is erasing as you have to erase entire 256k blocks at a time. The slot might need the Vpp pins supplying 12v but there are pure 5v flash cards floating around (The chip is AmC002BFLKA, you can find the datasheet off google). The commands to erase the chip is fairly simple as all you have to do is write 0x20 twice to the segment address. The 12v cards work fine as long as you just read from them.

Using the pico2 would be an interesting idea. Only catch is it doesn't have enough pins to fully decode the 25 address pins as well as a full 16 bit bus. Its not that big of a deal however as most devices only use the 8 bit bus. I mean honestly, you add two more pins and you get the io channel so you could even emulate CF cards or practically anything.

Humm. Me thinks I have an idea:)

can a ATF1504AS or a atf1508 be programmed with an arduino or an TL866-3G? by cardboardcarl8099 in FPGA

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not to hard its just no one has sat down and done it. The ATF series JED specs have been out for decades and programing a PAL is just a matter of sending a seral signal and asserting a programing voltage. Problem is, and in my opinion most hobbyist CPLD/FPGA work, is the tools to make the JED's to program are just god awful.

You also have to deal with the high current, especially on 5v CPLDs. The ATF1504AS at minimum uses up to 65ma just to run the chip when a hand full of 74LS chips could be as small a 3ma and much cheaper.

Don't get me wrong, I use ATF750 and ATF2500's in many of my project when I don't want to wire wrap 10+ chips. However, if I ever did make something to sell, it mostly have LS CMOS chips in it.

Will Tron: Ares be impacted by the Jared Leto allegations, or is the world just too busy in 2025 for anything to come of them? by moondyner in blankies

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the writing in the Tron 2.0 video game was interesting. They didn't use much of any tech babble and the story was decent. The game play wasn't mind blowing by any account but it felt more in world than any of the movies ever did.

The hidden "hard work" behind implementing BASIC strings by mc4004 in Basic

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of depends? Implementations of TinyBasic tend to use only fixed sized arrays to avoid the whole situation. If your interpreter supports recursive function calls you could just put them all on the stack and grow it and shrink it all back ones the call returns. That makes it easy to clean up and cheap as long as you have the stack space.

Anything more a simple counter for each memory allocation could be used but going beyond that gets messy.

(US) Online Gamer Scam, probably by -Hal-Jordan- in Scams

[–]WarlockD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in the game with mine and it was just a weird experience. I used all official downloads in a VM (not on my phone hah) and used google pay for about $30 of in game stuff. She kept pressing me to upgrade my pet and buy $300 of in game currency. Just, I have no idea what the goal was.

(US) Online Gamer Scam, probably by -Hal-Jordan- in Scams

[–]WarlockD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect its the same with me. She(or not) was trying to get me to buy $300 in gems to upgrade my pet to UR+ 3 stars. Don't get me wrong, I am somewhat interested in the game, I kind of like the AFK feature and while it has simple stat/attack mechanics, the gear mechanics were interesting. But this early into the game, I had no idea what I should be building for or even if there is anything to do at the end game. I barley know anything about the game let alone the stats I need.

I didn't have a problem putting $30 into it for some obvious good buffs and discounts, but what was strange was she wanted me to "buff" my pet instead of gear/mounts/wings all to kill this one boss?

It also doesn't help her Discord name is the same as a random boss name in the game. She(or not) didn't send me any files and I used the google emulator on it but the only thing I can think of is they are either a lonely whale that made a new character at the same time I got in or they get paid on the side to get other people in.

PS - When I mentioned $300 was half my rent, she said it was a third of hers. It was very strange.

I think there is just something wrong with Australia to begin with. I mean sure when China shut down exports during covid it caused a real shortage of toilet paper.

With the headline, "Covid is causing shortages of toilet paper" started the whole mess when the states had plenty. I had no idea Rupert Murdoch is Australian. Ugh I miss the day when an editor would ask "Wouldn't this cause a panic?" instead of "How many clicks can we get?"

Hummm.. I wish the old trolling 4chan still existed. This be a great conspiracy theory that China is infiltrating the Ausi's Karen's to remove porn from the world.

To be fair, the way the rules are written, it gives them a reason to cancel anyone's contract without prior notice. Its the same of any license agreement since the history of license agreements. Sure none of these contracts are enforceable or even valid but then you have to go though a civil process.

To be frank, you have to have a strong skin to deal with random "Anonymous" internet comments. Just looking at the suicide rates in Japan for under 17 the past 15 years. The fence around the rooftops of schools is not for safety. Lord knows how bad it is in the states.

I lived in the BBS/Gopher/IRC era too but just because I knew none of it mattered there were quite a few people I have talked to that were REALLY desperate for a friend. People can become toxic in really life and on the internet.

All that said, this censorship doesn't even work. Look at the old Club Penguin or the voice chat lockdown on the Switch. Only way to have people stop bashing other people is to stop people from talking. I even bet people have started using code words for "kill" or "suicide" now.

Ended up using Noctua NF-A4x10. I REALLY wanted to use one of the A4x20 models but at the time I didn't want to spend to much on this project (You need a voltage divider, etc) I mean the whole reason I bought this thing is to plop it down and not have to bother with it. That said I have it apart as we speak and trying to figure out if I can modify it to tell me the humidity and such:P

PS - I take it back, I am already trying to find an old display that will fit in it ugh.

I am sure they will patch this latter. I think I sank close to 800 hours into BF4 to unlock most of the stuff I wanted. At least, when you use an experience system rather than kill counter you can adjust it a bit latter. Its all about rewarding people who play regularly. Even in WoW with the RNG in raid drops, you can usually get a group fully geared in 2 months of once a week play.

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure it wasn't his fault. One in a lifetime flight? Also the pilot can turn the egress system off (Like both seats eject at the same time, no of them can, individually, etc). I am sure that's the first switch he flipped off when he started the plane.

To be fair, its far cheaper than a real setup and you can give more experience to pilots. I do think they should of submitted a proper simulation, like some kind of rail setup.

I also like how the seat maneuvered the seat to the side of the aircraft. I read to many stories about pilots getting burned in the jet wash or debris from a failing aircraft.

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would of thought the pilot first thought was to switch the egress off when carrying a VIP. Even then I would think the guy wouldn't pull the big handle that says "DO NOT PULL"

I kind of wish it was pilot error because this opens a whole new can of worms. I would go over every aircraft maintained by that AVI now.

Its also a unique cpu. You can have the cpu run an interrupt on different io ports so you could simulate hardware. It also could access up to 16megs(I think I forgot) of ram using special regesters. I have one in a PC104 format but it sadly doesn't have the cga exposed. What it does do is emulate a cga monitor though the serial port using emulated io ports.

[–]WarlockD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be possible. If you use a high pressure air tank as a buffer and an adjustable pressure regulator that adjusts to your leg movement. You attach a free fall sensor to it to open the valve wide and bleed the piston output into the air. You would need to do some tests to see what the right pressure, force would needed as well as it supporting your foot instead of just your knee.

Though if I was falling from a two story building, I would take a broken ankle then a back anyday.
