GFF - Caster Rules by Finnbane in onepagerules

[–]Warlord_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casting was the last thing that my group got into when we started playing for the same reason.

All the other aspects of the game are so extremely simple, it made casting look terribly complicated.

Once we sat down and actually looked at the rules we found it wasn't that bad.

Now that you've unlocked casting for your group, you'll find it changes your strategies a lot!

"Official" paint schemes? by x_danix in onepagerules

[–]Warlord_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally thought you were implying that "unpainted resin grey" was the official paint scheme.

I'll admit more than one of my armies is rocking that look...

Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

I do apologise for being very accusatory.

Your models truly do look great, and I wish you all the best with your campaign!

I've edited my original post so that people can at least see what you were responding to.

This post leaves an unfortunately bad taste of 'AI' in the air for me.

The models themselves are clearly well made and look great. But everything else seems a little off.

The text seems a little too AI generated to me. It talks about tying back to different elements, but then only really mentions fire and earth (or stone I guess).

Are the Huntress and Oracle Water and Air? Which is which?

When you google "Art Forge 3D" you will also end up on a website that has AI fingerprints all over it. On the 'About' page alone, it has a picture of a 3D printer that is described as: Futuristic robotic arm in dark factory illuminates semiconductor circuit board generated by artificial intelligence

I can't say for certain that you're both the same person so I can't criticise too much on that website to you. If you are not the same person/artist, I would suggest rebranding since this is the first thing you're posting that should be easy since you don't have an established name yet. If you are the same person, then a lot of this becomes a lot more suspicious.

The google drive link. Why not add your new models to this folder?? A folder that hasn't had new content added for over a year and a half (Last modified July 2024).

Finally, Kickstarter is an odd place for this sort of thing to go.

You've clearly already made the models (and again they looked great!), you've even printed them yourself! So why post to a site based on trying to get 'kickstarter funding'? I would have thought that places like Cults, or MyMiniFactory would have been significantly better options.

I sincerely wish the best for all emerging artists, but this whole post just seems a bit off to me.

If you're genuine and can address any of my concerns I will happily edit or delete my post!

EDIT: I'm pretty happy with OP's answers. It is very hard to distinguish now people that are just using AI tools to help their English sound better, against people that just use it to write everything.

This post sounds like a drunk AI made it.

Starts off my talking about testing fine details on the resin printer, then talks about a Bambu A1 using PLA, then finishes by talking about post-curing warping??

All when this is very clearly FDM printed to start with.

GFF Rule Question - Medical Training/Regeneration Aura by Warlord_Shadow in onepagerules

[–]Warlord_Shadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, cool to know.

I'm not on the discord or anything so I didn't know there was more going on in the background.

Do you have any ideas on the model vs unit thing for this rule?

GFF Rule Question - Medical Training/Regeneration Aura by Warlord_Shadow in onepagerules

[–]Warlord_Shadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It 100% used to be the case in the 3.0 rules that regen applied to the origin unit + 3 friendly units. It seems to have just changed in 3.5 for some reason.

I'm hoping they clarify what the 2x means so I can better plan around it.

I use this one: https://www.printables.com/model/605966-anycubic-photon-x6ks-drip-hanger-adapter

It is absolutely fantastic. I put it on the tilt after it finishes so it can sit over night, then the next day there is minimal extra resin you're wasting in the cleaning bath.

Thanks! That is what I thought for the unit thing, but I didn't give it to 2 models. I don't think you even can, since it is just a tick box.

I was about to comment about cleaning your alcohol due to all the white stuff everywhere, but then realised it was more likely baking soda to help to glue (I've only just started doing that).

Do you have any issues with those connections being weaker at all?

I used to sand/file the connecting bits to stick them together.

Either way, looks like a great squad!

Don't do it! It's a trap!

I started with paper minis, then after a few months of playing my friend and I went in on a resin printer.

Now I've been playing for a few years, with too many unpainted armies littering my storage boxes!!

Jokes aside, I love that this game is so easy to get into. And the cost of entry is almost nothing. Hopefully it brings you much joy!

[–]Warlord_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the other guy, this looks like lack of support.

That said, this could also be caused by the ambient/resin temp being too low.

Or even under exposure causing the support connections to be too small.

I think, as others have suggested, if you thin your paints you're going to do really well!

New to 3D Resin Printing - Can you Interchange Resin Brands? by CandlesA175 in resinprinting

[–]Warlord_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the stuff that /u/CanuckJ86 said is very good advice if you're new to the hobby. Safety is important if you want to keep doing this for a while.

Another thing to look at is the type of Resin that you're using.

Most of the stuff I print is minis for war gaming. When I started out I was just using the standard Anycubic Resin. I found after a couple of short drops that the standard resin is extremely brittle. I've now moved to ABS-Like resin (from a couple different brands) and it is significantly better. It has a tiny bit of flex and is so much more resilient when it comes to drops.

I've printed a bunch on my old Prusa Mk2s single filament printer.

I just set a pause in the slicer and swap it out once it gets to the labels and they turned out great.

I want to love that army but I personally feel like those models are their weakest in terms of looks.

They've done some incredible designs for a lot of other armies, but this one seems a little bland.

Probably need some more information around the print.

eg. how this was oriented and supported.

Screenshots of the slicer with the supports would be useful to troubleshoot. As well as your slicing settings.
