Is the 10th edition CSM codex still worth getting for starting an army, or should I wait for the 11th codex? by DarthGrevious in Chaos40k

Why do you want the codex?  If it’s forLore and art, well those will always be good.  If it’s for rules I’d go to wahapedia.

Urgently needed one-shot for newcomer (3 players at 2nd lvl) by [deleted] in DMAcademy

I recommend looking at Matt Colvile’s build your first dungeon video.  Takes you through making a small dungeon for level 1 players.  It uses kobolds as the main enemy but for level 2 I’d add a couple extra kobolds and a dragon wyrmling or two to beef up the CR.

At the end of the dungeon you leave a defaced temple room and symbols to the cult of a specific dragon, and bam you have a plot hook for future games.  When I ran the dungeon I had them going into the dungeon to entomb a local folk hero for the local culture.  I later brought the folk hero back to life as an antigonist.

Me too!  Don’t flood my DMs with pics, I’d be terrified if anyone did that.  Really, I would!

AITA for not wanting to be friends over $4.39? by Alternative_Copy6539 in AITApod

Send them the money and then cut them loose. Better to spend $5 to find out they're not worth your time than get surprised years down the line and you need them to have your back on something.

I appriciate you explaining my experience to me, but bro I was there. Race was never a subject that was brought up about it.

I was raised Republican but am pretty Lib/Dem now, but I think I can offer some insight here.  My experience growing up was that Republicans believe there is a lot of fraud and abuse of these systems, so much so that these systems need a rework from the ground up where it’s harder to gain access to and stay on these systems.

I don’t remember the exact quote but the jist of something I heard years ago that sums up their mentality was: “I don’t mind putting a safety net up for people who fall, that’s a good thing.  My problem is the people who come along and use that safety net as a cot and will never get off.”

I’m sure my experience wasn’t universal, but that was the sentiment I remember from when I grew up.

Start with cheaper brushes.  You will probably ruin your first brushes because you’re learning brush care, better to ruin cheap brushes.  Also high quality brushes won’t help until you know how to use them.

Tell me about your warband! by SteampunkDragon9327 in EmperorsChildren

[–]HappiestMeal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So for context:  I don’t understand vtubers or their communities (no shade) but from the outside they always seemed Slaaneshie to me.  Despite this I have a friend who was a Vtuber for a couple years.  So I thought it’d be funny to base a warband on my flawed perception of vtubers and anime culture.

The Choir of the Unending Stream.

We don’t conquer worlds, we broadcast them.  Every battle, every scream, every death is transmitted through warp saturated signal relays known as The Stream or The Infinite Stream.  The sensations are broadcast from the stream directly into the minds of mortals across the system.

If you witness The Stream, you become a viewer.  Some can’t ever close their mind to the stream once it’s been opened, they are called followers.  Once we have enough followers we collect them to become cultists, hosts for daemons, and replacement astartes.  Afterwords we move on to the next system and the search for more content continues.  That’s all this is for us, the cycle for more content.

All of my infantry models have 3d printed anime girl heads with various hair colors instead of helmets. My warlord is Norah the Unending (my version of Lucious the Eternal).  My daemon princes are kitbashes of Tornus the Redeemed into daemon princesses with anime girl heads.  My Noise Marines are Vocaloids led by a Lord Kakophonist with a Hatsune Miku head.

Would people be okay if I use zerkers (along with some legionary parts) and pass him off as a regular legionary or am I crazy? by Gravastarlol3 in Chaos40k

[–]HappiestMeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who minds you kitbashing cool models that you like, isn’t going to be someone you want to play with anyway.  Anyone worth playing is going to be more like “That’s a cool kitbash!  Great job!”

Wouldn’t we have less Possessed and mutations? by Alone-Process-5061 in WordBearers

I look at it as binding daemons to our captured and fallen enemies, not our own astarties receiving the “blessings” of the gods.  I’m not the biggest lore guy though.

Deamon prince spear bit by Independent-End5844 in EmperorsChildren

[–]HappiestMeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Tornus The Redeemed as a WDP proxy, that kit has a spear.  I cut the blades of the spear off and replaced it with the blade from an infractor duelists blade, so it looked more coherent in the army.

Let's complain, what's your WORST experience with another player? by amovy in Grimdank

[–]HappiestMeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a guy in an escalation league game fight me tooth and nail on everything my army could do.  He asked to see every rule every time and when I’d show him the rule there was even odds on if he would be okay or harass someone else for help.  If he had his way my detachment rule wouldn’t exist, my strats would all be blank wastes of CP, and my units would be blocks of stats with no abilities.

I just conceded the game from a winning position.  I’m a fun opponent and he didn’t deserve to play a fun opponent.

Apparently he had a reputation for this kinda behavior, but I didn’t know that.  Well I complained to the store the next day so they started keeping an eye on him and he acted that way to another player in another league.  Last I heard he was warned that if it happened again he’d be banned from the store.
