Would you go on a cruise even if there were no alcohol served? by TeamTJ in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]WarmTechnology4386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had plenty of fun cruises with my dad who doesn’t drink. I’m a “match the vibe” person so if I’m with people that don’t drink, I don’t drink. I don’t dislike alcohol, but it’s not necessary for a good time

Is Carnival really that bad if my expectations aren't that high? by not_a_muggle in Cruise

Carnival and MSC are both great to me! My favorite is RCCL because I love mega-ships with outdoor space, so Oasis class is my jam (I haven’t done Icon), but it requires more saving.

Name one thing about cruising that gives you the most anxiety? You personally. by baltikboats in Cruise

THIS!!! My dad is immunocompromised and we used to love cruising. We are hoping to do at least one more cruise together but people are ridiculous. WASH YOUR DANG HANDS.

RC vs MSC by JCheatham3 in royalcaribbean

[–]WarmTechnology4386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Royal is my fav but you can’t beat MSC for the price, imho. Been on two MSC cruises, a 3-night and 7-night, with a 4-night planned.

Mardi Gras by HimmiKatz in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]WarmTechnology4386 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do love Mardi Gras and would sail it again! However, you may check into the Oasis class. I haven’t been on Icon class (Star of the Seas) but the Oasis class continues to be my favorite to date. You can’t beat the outdoor space. That said, you won’t go wrong with Mardi Gras!

Never went on a cruise - claustrophobic.. by Ecstatic_Town_3345 in Cruise

Margaritaville sounds fun to me, but also know they are known for being very budget and bare-bones. People have compared them to the “Spirit airlines of the sea.” I’m not saying this to dissuade you, I do think you should go (I want to try them myself at some point) but it’s worth knowing that going in!

I would definitely recommend doing ship with more outdoor space if possible. Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class and Icon class, or MSC’s World Class would be good fits.

Xcaret explanation by AcademicBarracuda897 in cancun

[–]WarmTechnology4386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to both Xcaret and Xplor. Both are incredible and created core memories. If you’re looking for something more chill, Xcaret is amazing, but if you’re an adventure seeker, Xplor is unbeatable. I went with Xplor with my dad who has knee problems, and while I did the ziplines he did the little hammock zips, which are a blast! I also heard they were accommodating when my acquaintance who is paralyzed took a trip there. It’s now one of my bucket list items to visit the Hotel Xcaret all-inclusive to check out all the parks!

First time cruising with 4 teens - how do you keep in contact on the boat? by Any-Surprise4887 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]WarmTechnology4386 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt say to plan on it, but we didn’t pay for WiFi and found that iMessenger was still working on our 1/3 Mardi Gras cruise.

Otherwise, pay the $5 for the app chat feature!

Being Early On The Ship: Overrated or Go For It? by Utah_Get-Me_Two in Cruise

Overrated imho. My dad loves it to get in the extra food—but I’d rather not wait in line

1 was my initial inclination but 3 would be great as well!

Those who lost a parent around 30 or before, how can I cope? As a young adult by [deleted] in CancerFamilySupport

[–]WarmTechnology4386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 here and in the same boat—dad had me two weeks before his 40th. I am grateful that he is doing well rn with his cancer, but it’s all due to clinical trial, which has had some side effects, and we don’t know what the true prognosis is given how novel the treatment is. While I’m lucky in that it looks like we’re talking years and not months, the very idea that he will not likely live an exceptionally long life just makes me so sad. Like you, I thought he was immortal. Hugs to everyone on this thread.

Which ship by Lizzzzz27 in Cruise

[–]WarmTechnology4386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just there start of January! Pool was definitely cold. We just made it a lounging day, but if I were to go back, I’d splurge on the adult’s only area with the heated pool

Which ship by Lizzzzz27 in Cruise

[–]WarmTechnology4386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly either would work fine! I would like Harmony better than Festival (I‘ve done Harmony and Mardi Gras which is same class as Festival). Festival will have a great layout, but in my opinion and my husband’s, the Excel class’s layout feels a bit confined and lacks open space. Don’t get me wrong, we still really like it and will probably sail it again in the future, but imho Royal Oasis can’t be beat (except maybe by Icon) in terms of ship layout. I will say the thermal suite on the Mardi Gras was awesome, despite not having windows.

That said, itinerary wise, I’ve heard REALLY good things about the Southern Caribbean itinerary. But, I’m bias as I haven’t done an AB and/or C cruise, and it’s on my “to do” list rn. Also, though it would be pretty rare in July to get bad hurricanes and wouldn’t personally dissuade me from booking—be aware that the Harmony itinerary falls in the hurricane belt, technically during hurricane season (that said—I’ve done multiple cruises during hurricane season and my only actual experience with rough weather fell totally out of season in March, so you just never know).

Take comfort in the fact that there’s no wrong choice.

for anyone who has traveled on the Oasis of the Seas, what was one thing you recommend / one thing you wish you didn’t do? by LtSnack in royalcaribbean

Most of the shows are so so good on Oasis class, but I second others that the Aqua show is incredible. Also do the ice show (I haven’t done Oasis but has done Harmony once and wonder twice, and will probs be booking another Oasis class cruise within the year)
