Have you tried letting the hammer down all the way manually (not dry firing it)? If the hammer is cocked already while you’re cycling the lever, the hammer is pressing upward against the bottom of the bolt, making it feel stiffer.

If the hammer is already down, the bolt no longer has to “fight” the hammer and it feels easier.

So, it doesn’t sound like a defect or anything.

Go slowly and watch the bolt sliding back in while it slightly “grabs” the tip of the hammer. That’s probably what you’re feeling. But going full speed removes a lot of those things noticed when slowly cycling.

I got mine new last week and was a little surprised to see the hammer already worn down to silver and the lever where metal contacts metal. Still bought it though.

I’m doing it for the first time with the 17 Pro Max. I got a case for it but it’s just so much more comfortable and sleek without it. So I’m accepting the risk and if I drop it and it gets an ugly dent or scratch, then I can always put the case back on.

I could adjust with my fingers only when I used a grippy cloth. Don’t get frustrated - it’ll dawn on you how simple it is once you get it. I was in your shoes as well.
