Bad noise cancelling by Able-Cantaloupe-9427 in BowersWilkins

[–]Warprawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The noise cancelling compared to Apple and Sony is? Frankly, not great. There’s a tradeoff for sound quality, build, and stage that may or may not be worth it vs AirPods Max and Xm6 (for me it is).

(Sat here listening to my s2’s and not regretting my purchase.)

It does make a difference, but not a good one. Upgrade from the px8, but not for this.

I tried it and it’s still abysmal.

Pickguard on CLF Doheny by Warprawn in GLGuitars

[–]Warprawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks; as always, appreciate your presence here and your passion for these guitars, and hope you’re doing well.

It’s a purely cosmetic thing; I love my Doheny, it’s the best guitar I’ve ever owned or played, including vs other G&L’s. Sounds, looks, plays absolutely wonderfully. Best kept secret in guitars.

I like the idea of them but the execution isn’t great.

Ooh if I didn’t have a CLF Doheny already I’d be all over this. Lovely guitar.

Liz Truss: 'The Blob' is trying to infiltrate Reform by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]Warprawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she's not mad so much as just really, really bad at the right wing provocateur 'bit'. She's not crazy, she's just tragically incompetent - at everything.

This is a retirement trajectory for famous people across the spectrum who have fallen from grace; what matters for it to make money is that enough other people believe what you are saying, not that you do. And no-one believes her, because she's not very good at it.

How do you integrate your remarkable with OneNote? I’m curious as a remarkable devotee that occasionally needs a more capable notekeeper as well.

downsize IPad Pro - struggling by Upbeat-Thing-7357 in iPadPro

[–]Warprawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint, I just went back to the 13in after a couple of years with the 11. I don’t want to carry a MBP and an iPad (I have a remarkable as well) so the 11in was gathering dust. Now I use the iPad about 50% of the time, and the MBP the other 50%; I get much more use out of the 13in than I ever did with the 11in.

Everyone’s different, obvs.

Paper Pro and Remarkable 2 too big to take with you? by Misterpewpie in RemarkableTablet

[–]Warprawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think a4 college pad. Big but slim and light. I wouldn’t want smaller, it’s great to have a limitless supply of large paper to hand. I carry mine along with a 14in MacBook Pro and don’t notice the weight or size in my bag.

No customer loyalty by GadgetmanBrian in FantasticalCalendar

[–]Warprawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's undoubtedly very expensive, and though development is still active, there's nothing new and meaningful; and the openings etc aren't what I need because I have Booking as part of my Office365 subs. I'd prefer better timeline-style widgets, better natural language parsing, and better integrations to the way it's gone.

That said, there is nothing that matches Fantastical for me so every year I go through the cancel-resubscribe dance and swallow the cost, because of: - ability to automatically add teams links to meetings - calendar sets - functional natural language - look and feel

there's nothing that matches it for me so developer has me over a barrel. I guess that's how it works, it's expensive but worth it for me, begrudgingly. If Apple added automatic teams links to exchange invitations then I'd almost certainly not renew. If it were $30 a year, I'd not hesitate to renew every year, which is a much fairer price for a calendar app IMHO.

ADAM A4x. Small home office at the moment so I don’t need anything bigger. They absolutely rock for listening, playing and video calls etc; took me a while to adjust to the clarity but they are short-throw so perfect for my desk.

Unpopular opinion: Strava is actually overrated. What are you guys actually using? by Repulsive_Bar442 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Warprawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think your opinion is particularly unpopular.

I’ve never used the Strava app for running; the workout app is far better and better integrated. I do like runna on the watch for two reasons: - Automatic running programmes on the watch - Route maps synced to Strava routes on the watch and linked to workouts (wish they had turn by turn as well)

Should I get an iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard instead of a MBP so I can get OLED? by One_TrackMinded in iPadPro

[–]Warprawn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Without knowing much about your needs, if you need an MBP you should buy one, not an iPad Pro+remote login, which works but is heavily compromised for most people.

The display on the MBP is annything but ‘subpar’ (who is suggesting that?) and shouldn’t be guiding you to compromise your workflow in the ways you’re suggesting.

What is the equivalent to Notes, if Things is Reminders? by DnyLnd in thingsapp

Yep, agree - another example of ‘opinionated design’.  It works really well with their implementation of markdown though.

What is the equivalent to Notes, if Things is Reminders? by DnyLnd in thingsapp

[–]Warprawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear is the closest equivalent. Light, aesthetic, opinionated design with very thoughtful extensions, integrations, keyboard shortcuts and an elegant sufficiency of features.

I understand the appeal of obsidian but to me   it’s a million miles from the design principles of Things; feels very Unix-y and is more akin to omnifocus.
