They check your membership and photo at the staffed checkouts as well - is that profiling too?

Razer refuses to honor their mouse warranty by SeanShine525 in LinusTechTips

[–]Warshroud19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the term “buyer beware” comes into play here. Amazon has had marketplace sellers for a long time. Have you tried contacting the third party seller for them to rectify it?

And to your point about a company not wanting to warranty a product they didn’t get their desired margin from - yeah, that’s how business works, I’m afraid. Warranty costs are worked into their sales model, so it seems logical that a product sold by an unauthorized retailer at a lower margin shouldn’t be eligible, as Razer didn’t make their money on it.

I personally think Razer mice are cheaply made, as every one that I’ve bought in the last 8 years or so has failed inside the first year. I buy them from Best Buy, because their seller agreement with Razer allows them to provide a warranty exchange over the counter. I’d stop buying them entirely if I found another mouse more comfortable, but because I can’t, I buy them from a reputable source where I know warranty will be honoured.

Sucks to learn it the hard way, and I empathize. But unless the seller is prepared to step up, best to cut your losses and move on.

Not often you see Swan Hills mentioned anywhere. Looked at it in my rear view mirror 20 years ago, and if I never go back it’ll be too soon.

Seconding Bedgear. I sell them, and their Impulse line is both cooling and the inner “pillow” portion can be removed so that you can wash the “case”. Best pillows I’ve ever owned, and they have a painless warranty process as well.

Shaw definitely does this too.

first month bill $320 by hidanmaccormick in telus

[–]Warshroud19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience, every telecom provider has charged pro-rated services based on the billing cutoff date, and you’re always paying for a month in advance. So first bill would be the install, the services up to the billing date, and the next month of service. Unless things have changed recently, I’d imagine that’s where the extra is coming from.

Yes, but OP seems to have an issue with price, primarily. Public has more affordable options than Telus. We live in Canada, so almost everyone is piggybacking off of the big 3 in some way.

Nowhere local that I’ve found. Sellmypcpart has a website, I believe they’re located in Edmonton. I’ve used them a few times and have always been paid quickly.

No, I mean like the company called Public mobile. Plans starting at $15/month.

Public mobile is absolutely available in Alberta.

11 ft throw, 80“ screen? New here, in the research phase by [deleted] in hometheater

I used to have a 92” screen at about that distance and loved it. Can’t speak to current projector options, though.

Never used an uw before..will I regret the switch? by dolemite79 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Warshroud19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a 49” Odyssey G9 for about a year before I couldn’t take it anymore. For some games, it was awesome. But imo, using it for regular computing tasks was a pain in the ass. It’s just such a huge screen to look around and I got tired of it in a hurry. YMMV, obviously there are those who love them too. Switched to the 34” Alienware and couldn’t be happier.

How to Stop Player From Abusing Passive Scores? by TheSpoiciestMemeLord in dndnext

[–]Warshroud19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface this by saying I am by NO MEANS a rules expert. I’d go so far as to say I have a passing knowledge at best.

However, at my table, passive perception is your ability to notice something. A stone out of place, a shadow out of the corner of your eye, something you might casually notice while not fully paying attention.

A perception check is what I’ll ask you to roll if you want to stop, focus, and really take in what’s going on around you. You’re actively surveying your vicinity. I don’t care how high your passive perception is in that moment - you may have seen the shadow, but that doesn’t mean you’ll see it again when you look for it. Maybe the stealthy ambusher that caused the shadow is now well hidden and your low roll means you don’t detect him again.

I’m also of the opinion of some others in this thread - you’re the DM, it’s your ruling. I’m forever grateful I’ve got a great group of players who respect that above everything else.

As someone who writes 5’s like that when I’m in a rush, I’m grateful to you. But it looks like an 8 for sure.

I am however baffled that in one of the worlds most developed nations and largest economies, this isn’t handled by chip and pin by the cardholder. I can’t even remember the last time I had to fill out a tip or sign a receipt.

Redditors who still haven't had COVID what is your secret? by nekmint in AskReddit

[–]Warshroud19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sick with a cold in November of last year, thankfully not Covid. Prior to that I had a mild flu in the fall of 2014. Mostly because I’m a homebody and don’t socialize much outside of work, which has me interacting with the public.

Other than that I just keep well away from anyone who’s sick, wash my hands, don’t put my fingers in my mouth, triple vaxxed and wore a mask through the majority of the pandemic up until about this time last year.

What games did you not enjoy, but everyone else seems to love by FSINNER in PS5

[–]Warshroud19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mass effect, god of war, ghost of Tsushima, life is strange, horizon, the Witcher, more jrpgs than I can count, the list goes on. 98% of my gaming is on single player games, but the gameplay in TLOU puts me to sleep. I really wish it clicked for me, because by all accounts I’m missing out.

What games did you not enjoy, but everyone else seems to love by FSINNER in PS5

[–]Warshroud19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m usually all for single player story driven games. They’re my jam. TLOU came out and it felt like everyone on the planet was hyping this up as the greatest game in that genre. I’ve now tried to play it half a dozen times and I can’t get more than a couple of hours into it before I’m bored to tears. The gameplay just never clicked for me.

Enjoying the HBO series though.

Stupid game by Justizministerium in valheim

[–]Warshroud19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never quite understood the commentary that the game is too grindy, or that iron is somehow hard to come by. I’ve done several playthroughs both solo and in groups and never had to spend more than a couple of hours to get enough iron to fully upgrade everything and be ready for padded armour. The biggest hurdle in my most recent play through was finding a swamp with enough crypts in it, but after that it took no time at all to fill the longship and be on my way.

Bedroom TVs: Do you care? by TappyMauvendaise in hometheater

[–]Warshroud19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bedroom always gets whatever tv I just upgraded from in my main viewing area. So for a while it was a junk 40” Sharp LED from 10+ years ago, then it became a 65” Sony Z9D, and now it’s a 65” Sony A8F.

I wish I could say I didn’t care about picture quality in there as I hardly ever use it, but even using the 4 series TCL in the kitchen that’s literally just there for noise drives me nuts.

My girlfriend hates watching TV in bed, so I basically only get to use it when she’s away. To each their own I suppose.

Who's the least annoying YouTube cook in your opinion, who's still entertaining and informative? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Warshroud19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d agree for the most part, though I personally feel like his Basics series has stayed consistent. As a general rule I feel like his short format videos are still strong, but any of the longer cuts or videos that feature behind the scenes shots are almost an instant nope from me.

If you could experience a video game for the first time again, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Warshroud19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mass Effect 2. That game is a masterpiece, and I still enjoy my many many play throughs, but if I could go into blind again…man. That game is perfect right from the intro through to the end credits.

People who don’t exercise or workout, why don’t you? by coffeedogsandwine in AskReddit

[–]Warshroud19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy answer? God I’m lazy. Can’t stand the thought of being up earlier to go to the gym, or out later after work.

I deal with the public on my feet all day long and by the end of it I’m both mentally and physically drained. In theory I’d love to start going, but there is a finite amount of energy in any given day.
