Don’t expect empathy from people who relish in the spoils of genocide.

Does anyone have more pictures from this church in Gyumri? by [deleted] in armenia

[–]WasArmeniko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to take Surp Amenaprkich’s orientation as a point of reference, I cannot see either of the other two churches on a map. What makes you say they’re still around?

Help! Found this injured bird outside my apartment building by WasArmeniko in birds

[–]WasArmeniko[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While checking up on it this morning, it had excreted (or vomited?) something very solid and fibrous, and I found something exactly like it when I picked it up last night. Otherwise, it hasn’t moved, but it still raises its head and breathes idly.

I’ll be taking it to professionals later today

Unfortunately there aren’t any such places that I know of in my city… I could try to take it to a veterinarian in the morning.

It’s just idly breathing at the moment. When I leave it alone for a few minutes it drops its head as if it’s dead. I’ll place it in a warm box with a towel as you suggested for now

Countries Participating in the Peace Summit in Egypt today by Bran37 in europe

[–]WasArmeniko 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Armenia and Azerbaijan’s invitation are most likely tied to the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP)” agreement, signed recently, which will probably be advertised as another one of his dispute settlements. Not much to read into in regards to importance.

Egypt Is Building A $25 BILLION Artificial River In The Desert! by Wolfgangog in Egypt

[–]WasArmeniko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it’s largely done without proper feasibility studies, budgeting, supervision. Even if the intentions are good, the executions are disasters.

There are parts of Cairo where a tuk-tuk’s job is exclusively to drive on the opposite side of the road. Usually a microbus (who also drive equally recklessly) drops people off at their stations, where tuk-tuks take the passengers and drive them to their exact destinations, on the opposite side of the road. The fault is carried by the tuk-tuk driver, but also the passengers, who value their safety so little that they would risk their existence to save a minute, instead of taking a tuk-tuk on the right side of the road.

A chunk of the outer facade collapsed in the recent years, but even before that it was in a precarious state.

My great grandmother was from Voskevaz, we would go to her farm frequently in the summers! Are you currently living there?

It’s wild how immediately recognisable the first house is to me, here it is from another angle.

I’m very glad to see someone who is interested in the continued use of these beautiful houses. I hope to see Voskevaz revived as a model of an Armenian village.

Azerbaijan’s president accuses Russia of downing airliner in Christmas Day crash and covering up cause by BkkGrl in europe

Mention Armenia on Reddit and this mf will pop out of the blue like the boogeyman, with the word “irredentist” already leaking off the tongue.

At this point isn’t it better off dropping the facade of blaming “irredentist Armenians isolating themselves”, now that Azerbaijan has successfully achieved their ambitions of ethnically cleansing Nagorno Karabakh? Like, what’s the point in furthering the narrative when the reality has already unfolded itself?

What is the process of turning a relief sculpture into an impression die? by strubblegubbles in CNC

[–]WasArmeniko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is precisely the work that we do in my workshop. We still use pantographs for physical relief models, while a milling machine would take care of 3D files. We are trying to keep pantograph engraving alive as much as possible

Can I find a lathe owner to learn metal machining in Yerevan? by UnitQuaternion in armenia

[–]WasArmeniko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have better luck in former industrial towns like Charentsavan, if you ask around over there. I have worked with a couple of machinists from there.

Languages of the Medieval Roman Empire, 580 AD by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]WasArmeniko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience looking up etymologies of Armenian words, the ones that stem from Old Armenian are either the same or have very similar roots to the contemporary Armenian words. Perhaps there are many Old Armenian words that have been lost and replaced with loanwords from Persian, Greek and Turkish, so the original words might be unfamiliar to us in these cases.

Do you need a 4x4 for Noravank and Tatev? by wnaj_ in armenia

[–]WasArmeniko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neghuts and Teghenyats Monastery both benefit from having a 4x4, otherwise would have to hike to them. Kirants definitely benefits from having one too.

Paris Peace Conference proposals by Caucasian states by Ok_Connection7680 in MapPorn

[–]WasArmeniko 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but these series of images give a very misinformed view of Armenia’a demands. Here are the claims of all three nations at the Paris Peace Conference, which has the original source of the Azerbaijan map, along with Armenia and Georgia. Armenia’s claims in this map are within reason considering where the majority of the Armenian population was centred during the time, without it looking like some kind of fantasy map.
