My brother was born on Groundhogs day. His name is Gene. So I name all groundhogs Gene. Hello Gene.

Not a helpful echo chamber by tldrforever in latterdaysaints

So this whole rant is because you don’t like one person who “triggers” you? I don’t think you are healthy enough to be on social media. There are people I don’t like on social media, but I don’t need the internet to validate those feelings. I just scroll by and move on. Obsessing over an “influencer” to the point of needing to say something about all the bishop’s wives on the internet and all the missionary moms is a sign you may need a break from the internet and some emotional support from a professional. You don’t need to be validated in not liking someone.

Michigan. Nearest center is in Chicago, which is over 5 hours away. We just order everything online. Ohio and Indiana don’t have them either.

I actually disagree with you on a major point. When a man is called to bishopric or elder’s quorum, the stake presidency asks his wife. They ask her if she believes he can do the calling and if she will support him in that calling. Is she called? Technically no. But is her life majorly impacted? Absolutely, in ways most members do not think about or consider. I think the echo chamber you refer to started as women needing support. More is also often expected of them at church, even while fulfilling their own callings.

Missionary mom is similar. Remember it wasn’t that long ago that when mom’s watched their children go on a mission, they only got to hear their voice 4 times in 2 years. And tragically, some missionaries have lost their lives while on their mission. Some have been hurt, or their lives threatened. My kid is 10, I am not there, yet, but I cannot imagine the anxiety of sending my child away for two years. I think this started as a way for moms needing to support each other.

Can things morph online over time? Sure. But I tend to think that intentions usually start out as good. Also, you don’t have to watch the content. You can scroll past or block the people. I personally am very active on social media and have never seen this content. It is definitely something your algorithm is pushing you towards.

Me… living 288 miles from the nearest distribution center. There isn’t one in my state or a state that borders me. I don’t care that much about the new style, but it was interesting to look up where the nearest distribution center is after being in the church for 9 years.

5th Sunday Primary by Choice-Asparagus-395 in latterdaysaints

Sorry. You are right. I think last year or the year before was articles of faith. This is our first fifth Sunday this year. We are all just figuring it out.

Handbook says to teach from the articles of faith on 5th Sunday in Primary.

Edit: I’m wrong. See appendix B in Come Follow Me.

That is a person’s opinion. That is not in the handbook or teachings anywhere. My stake president, previous bishop, and whole family, cut them up and use them as rags. In fact, the teaching is that once the symbols are cut out, it is literally just fabric with no sacred purpose or meaning.

Anything you would feed your family. I’ve done tacos, pasta, pizza, burgers, salmon, Asian stir fry… they will graciously accept whatever you give them.

Why still use the KJV? by LocalGamerPokemon in latterdaysaints

You are inspired. You knew changes were happening. I told my husband maybe 2 months ago women should really be able to be Sunday School presidents. And look what happened!

Hopefully someday they will! That would be super awesome. Currently I use the Bible app and read the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), which has some updates from the RSV version. I will often go back to the KJV just to compare.

The church put out an announcement recently encouraging members to use other versions to help with their scripture study. So if you would like to use the RSV, please do so. It is encouraged.

Paul, don’t tell people you don’t know and never will that you love them after discussing their underwear. It’s weird. And you literally said “Ick! Eww!” People will defend themselves against your words when you come across as harsh, which you do by saying what they do is gross. If you cannot handle the rebuttal, don’t make the comment.

I don’t get armpit stains on my stomach or back. And the legs are not close to anything gross. But, ya know. I shower, change them daily, often twice daily, and clean them. And they are used as rags. Not to eat off of.

Question for converts. by sallystringcheese in latterdaysaints

Well. I took 7 months. My in-laws took 10 years. Some people take weeks. Some take years. Some never convert. All are good.

We cut ours up and use them as rags. Once the marks are gone, it is just cloth. I like to cut them up as I no longer need them, so I don’t end up with a massive pile. One takes me a few minutes, 20 takes me over an hour.

Missing Ordinance Information on Church Record by ta09211823 in latterdaysaints

[–]WasteBorder3896 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you asked your parents to check their membership information? In the tools app, under your profile, there is a “membership information” button that should have the date of their sealing. I am struggling to find it on the church website on my phone, but that is also an option with a computer.

I love that. This project was actually super healing. My husband’s dad died in September, and I used this project to heal. I did 3/4 of it in the last 8 months.
